Re: I'm confused
I guess the bow isn't a part of the hull...for that matter WTF, I guess when you work at the SC factory and your boss says "get to work, you have 3 hulls to lay up today" you can just point at an empty mold and say "BOSS I'M DONE! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. I crack myself up!
I' GOING ON FULL CAPS LOCK NOW. THIS POST STARTED AS, " I THINK I HAVE A LITTLE PROBLEM" THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM, SEEING THAT IT STARTED ON FUDGING JANUARY 20TH OF 2004. SUZUKI JUST HAD A MAJOR MAJOR RECALL ON THE 4 STROKE V6'S. THEY PUT OUT A BULLITEN, SHIPPED ECM'S TO DEALERS AND VIOLA, IT WILL TAKE 5 MINUTES TO FIX. NOW THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE. INTERESTING QUESTION TO ASK BPS, IF THE TRANSOM ISN'T PART OF THE HULL, WHAT IS IT? |
Re: I'm confused
They are now holding the paper work from a Texas Board Certified, Texas Deceptive Trade Act attorney.
I assum they will define "the hull" in their reply...or they can wait and tell the judge. |
Re: I'm confused
Good for you. I hope you come out well.

Boat-US article |
Re: I'm confused
Hey Captn C- this is leslie from The hull truth. I had written to you some time ago regarding your hull problem. I own the Mako 282 in the boat usa article. we have been fighting with tracker/mako for two years. the coastguard just initiated a recall. no repairs yet. I feel your pain.
|
Re: I'm confused
I thought it was from the way the story played out. I have filed with the USCG against Tracker Marine too.
Hard headed bunch of fools up there in Springfield! I have found about 6 or 7 25' SeaCraft for sale at Yacht World.com and two (can't really see the rest of the boats transom very well) of the boats that are for sale have had the transoms repaired like they did mine, were they put the angle on top of the transom. I e-mailed both brokers about the repairs, but neither has replied. |
Re: I'm confused
Glad to hear that you have applied with the coastguard. keep after them. they are a group of great guys but they are very busy. i am also glad to hear that you have located other vessels with similar problems. the coastguard's standard is design defects and not just one lemon off the line.
Good luck to you. keep me posted. |
Re: I'm confused
one more thought. you didn't happen to see any 282 mako's on the lot with cracks, did ya?????????
|
Re: I'm confused
I was looking at boats on the internet. Thats why I didn't get to check all the SeaCrafts. Some don't have good pictures of the back of the boat. Only one boat had a decent photo of the transom that didn't have the angle on the top of the transom.
I also got an e-mail from a guy in VA that said his transom was starting to crack a little....seems his boat was 2002 25' SeaCraft. |
Re: I'm confused
hi again,
check these out and decide what you now think of tracker. http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff36631.htm http://www.ripoffreport.com/results....=&searchtype=0 http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff36631.htm seems everyone has the same problem. great friendly service at sale time and no information when lodging a complaint. i must be niave. i have never seen a manufacturer do so little to keep up consumer confidence in their products. |
Re: I have a little problem?!?
Any updates on this s&*(-fight?
|
Re: I have a little problem?!?
No, they have ask for the survey...again....I guess they lost the first one. My lawyer said it would be a slow process, he also said I didn't really have to "be quite" or "behave" on the internet...so I haven't been. He said we are still looking at about 18 months.
I think the word is starting to get out to the general boat buying public. Over on The Hull Truth others are informing the unsuspecting of my boats problem and what they can expect from Tracker Marine. I am starting to find more boats with problems like mine. So far though mine is the only one that has all the common problems on one 25' boat. FIGURES! I'm sure there are some....I'll find them! |
Re: I have a little problem?!?
Capt. C,
I will keep my eye's peeled over here. That Causeway Marine they talk about in those links Leslie gave is over here by me. I'd be happy to go talk with them if you thought it might be any help. |
Re: I have a little problem?!?
If you happen to be in the marina you might ask them if they have seen problem with the 25' SeaCraft like I have had. It would be valuable info in court.
One thing I really would like to have is pictures of one of the newer boats bilge area. I don't beleive there is any more new SeaCraft boats in Texas right now....for sure no 25'ers. I know there are none in Houston. Bass Pro is the only dealers we have for SeaCraft that I have been able to find. Just a reminder to everyone. If you find a new 25' SeaCraft (2003 or newer) I would like to have a picture or two of the area where the stringer meets the transom and the top area of the transom inside the bilge area. |

Re: I have a little problem?!?
Travis Marine in Stuart had a pretty good stash of SeaCrafts when I was there a month ago. I won't be back there for nine weeks or so, but maybe one of the other Stuart members could swing by there.

Re: I have a little problem?!?
New update.....
I had planned to have the engines serviced after getting the boat from Tennessee and I have had to take it back three times. I have not been able to put a single minute on the engines! They've replaced a number of senors because they were damaged during the engine removal process. I picked the boat up last week and finally got it in the water. While I was about to decarbon the engines, I was only 100 yards from the boat launch when the port engines shift cable breaks. I removed the lower cowling so I could see and the knuckle heads in Tennessee had twisted the cables which put them in a bind! Also! The deck now has cracks in it on both sides of the front legs of the T-Top! I have been surprised it hadn't cracked sooner. I guess the deck flexing while it was being trailered back and forth to the shop is what has caused it?!? |
Re: I have a little problem?!?
this is one situation that refuses to have a happy ending
It would certainly give me pause before buying a current edition. |
Re: I have a little problem?!?
With all the other people with these boats, the dealer complaints, and the USCG reports, how can they deny not having a problem? I just don't get it? Do they really think they can let this wash under the bridge?
And it's true what Fellow-Ship said. I see countless older restored SC's here and have never seen a new one. |
Latest Update 11-22-04
I ran the boat for the first time over the weekend. Well I can now tell you that the use of transom savers has had nothing to do with my problems. Both corners of the splash well are cracked BIG TIME after a easy cruise on flat water in ICW with an average speed of 20 knots.
I was doing the "SeaFoam" treatment on each engine so during my 36nmile trip one engine was only run at 2800RPM. I have done a couple before and after photos that I plan to TRY to post if I can recall how to do it. |
Re: Latest Update 11-22-04
Well here we go....I hope this works!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...tarB_Atext.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...ortB_Atext.jpg Remember these photos were taken just a few hours apart. Plus the worst wave I encountered was the wakes of a few bay boats! |
Re: Latest Update 11-22-04
I know a good glass guy in Stuart, Florida, that could fix that transom once and for all

Re: I have a little problem?!?
Ha Captain C
I haven’t said much regarding your boat but have read this “I Have A Little Problem” thread since January of this year when you started posting in. I Really Feel For You like everyone else on this board for the raw deal regarding your 25 footer and their poor manufacturing attempts with a uni bracket. I wish things were different for you than what they are, but I really don’t think there are going to help you out on this problem because of their non transferable warrantee that went into effect that same year (some where in your thread you mentioned it) I am just going to say that: IF IT WERE ME I would count my losses and Move On. I know you don’t want to hear this, but if it has taken one year to get nowhere than it could take 3 more years to still get no where. Again IF IT WERE ME I would either, sell her as is, or pay someone or fix her, or fix her myself. Those Yellowfins you use to talk about are still waiting for you and your fishing life is to short to waist it on a broke boat. [censored] Happens and I’m sorry [censored] Happened to you. If you ever make it down here to South Florida let me know and I’ll take you out for the day fishing with me. I’m sure there are at least 10 other guys that will extend the same offer. Sorry again. FellowShip |
Re: I have a little problem?!?
Like Fellow-Ship, I too have not said much (if anything) with regards to this thread, although I do empathize with you Captn C. I also believe that it may be time to cut your losses and move on, especially if there isn't any warranty coverage. I'd sell it as is and move on. The negative publicity that this thread has raised is probably enough for it to hurt new SeaCraft sales, which IMO is a decent dose of retribution on your part.
BTW, is it just me or are the "before" pix out of focus? I see the difference between "before" and "after", but the "befores" look a little fuzzy. |
Re: I have a little problem?!?
Scott,
Yes the pictures are a little out of focus because of the light....or should I say the lack of it. But you can still see what I wanted seen.....the fact that the transom cracked some when it was being trailered and cracked a bunch once it was in the water. My lawyer seems to think I have a stong enough case (under the Texas Deceiptive Trade Act) that he is willing to take his money at the end. So I can last as long as Tracker wants because it hasn't cost me dime for his fees up to this point. Thanks for the offer guys.....I may just take you up on your offer one day! |
Re: I have a little problem?!?
Good luck CaptnC, It always amazes me how companies that wil not back their products stay in business. I think with the increased use of the internet, poorly ran companies such as this wil be forced to close their doors. Rightfully so, I might add. I had a similar experience with Mako. What it boils down to is poor workmanship on the part of the guys who build the boats, AND the supervisors who are supposed to SUPERVISE.
|
Re: I have a little problem?!?
capttwb,
Not sure if you know this or not, but Mako is owned by the same company that owns SeaCraft.....Tracker Marine...thats the reason you've had had similar problems.... I have tried to tell folks on the internet about my problems with Tracker Marine and they continue to still want to buy their products....until people quit buying their junk they will continue to build it! |
Re: I have a little problem?!?
what ever happened it's 2008 does anyone know?
|
Re: I have a little problem?!?
Hey everyone!
I still got her and she is still been racin across the gulf! Just not lately I hope to soon have her back in service. I've been grinding and laying glass for a few weeks. This weekend I hope to get her wet. I stopped by to see if I could get some tips on Gel Coating. |
Re: I have a little problem?!?
Did the Seacraft manafacturing move from Miami in 98 north to NC area? I have heard that the last Miami built boats 97-98 <before move> were pretty good. Wondering where this boat built...hmm...there is a 98 Miami built boat for sale in SW FL that been eyeing on CS.com.
|
Re: I have a little problem?!?
did they ever fix it right or give you a new hull just wondering
|
Re: I have a little problem?!?
Neither....they now own me...if you know what I mean.
I can say the work I have just finished should solve all the problems I've had. Seems they moved in 2000 or 2001 to NC. |
Re: I have a little problem?!?
i cant belive the crap you had to go through
good luck and tight lines |
Re: I have a little problem?!?
Captn C: I tried to send you a PM but it would go through. I live also live in Houston. Send me a PM when you get my message. If you have problems with mine let me know.
