Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
Glad you are planing to join us bbh57,
We will have segregated areas for non-SeaCrafts :o Just kidding!!!! We are over 60 confirmed as of today, this does not include those who have said if they plan on kids, wives, girlfriends and or friends coming with them. As we get closer, I would like to get a better count, so that if the Bennett raffle goes well the club will furnish the main coarse. Bennett Raffle See ya, Ken |
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
We are doing a practice run camping this weekend, forcast is 80'+ a little windy but from the east so doable.
|
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
Is it pay camping or just find a spot? Do we need to make reservations? I do not know if I will camp or not. It depends on the wife's back. Going to make the run from Bradenton either way.
|
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
Rock on! I talked to Rick last night and he's all fired up about it as well. He's gonna load the wife and whipper'snapper and bring the 32. I have my new tent, air matress, etc. We're gonna be camping like a couple'a yuppies ;) Ya know, speaking of whipper'snappers...... Congrats, bro! :)

Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
resurrection812-It's free to camp. We just need to notify the park ahead of time and give boat reg# and what nights we are there for CG puposes and their stats. Talk to No Bones on a PM to get more info or just check out the link to the park on this thread. Bradenton SC's are going to have a strong showing!

Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
For the wifes sake you can checkout the hotel in the link I posted if its a problem. I think its around $70 and an easy run in and I will have the GPS numbers availible.
|
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
I looked at the hotel and did not see that docking is there. I am going to be coming by water so I need a hotel that has a dock. It does take dogs so that is good. I am pretty sure I will camp Saterday night. The weather looks good this weekend for a grouper run!
Thanks tugboat. She when in for a runny nose and came back with that result. |
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
Correct they said no docking sorry, just pick ups

Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
I used to be able to buy that 3M Ultrathon at Walmart but they don't have it there anymore. It is hands down the best bug repellant. What store are you buying it at.

Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
This is the new stuff out by Repel. Plant Based & It's non greasy. I have used it in areas with No-See-ums and it worked. It was written up in Fla Sportsman. Get it at Walley World about $7
- The first truly effective, plant-based insect repellent on the market, Repel Lemon Eucalyptus has been proven to be effective against mosquitoes, deer ticks and no-see-ums for up to six hours. -Derived from Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus, a renewable resource, this non-greasy lotion and pump have a pleasant scent and are perfect for the whole family. Oil of lemon eucalyptus, in addition to DEET and Picaridin, has been recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for effective protection against mosquitoes that may carry the West Nile virus. -Repel Lemon Eucalyptus is the only personal insect repellent product commercially available in the US made with oil of lemon eucalyptus. http://www.repel.com/NR/rdonlyres/28...F33F/0/OLE.jpg |

Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
Rode up the river yesterday and had a beer with Carl and Jeanne Moesly at there house on the river. I had just returned from trolling and the boat was clean so I thought I would show it off. They both said it was great to have a Seacraft at the dock again, Carl crawled all around it and sat behind the console ready to go. Jeanne is working on a scrap book of their years racing and building boats and plans to bring it to the hotel for everyone to look at. Be sure she shows you the pictures of Carl in the water, I'll leave the story to them...
Jeanne suggested since no one knows each other that we should have some kind of name tags. I'll pick up a pack of stick on name tags and a Sharpe for those of you who don't make your own. |
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
Wavelength- Is that a CC or a SeaVette on your Avatar? I would really like to get a first hand look at one of those SeaVette. Maybe I'll get lucky and one will join us at the gathering.
I did see a fairly good deal on a Sceptre, in case anyone doesn't have a CSC and would like to drive themselves to the festivities  http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/3/6/87377336.htm |
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
His is a 23 CC
|
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
For those of you trailering to the gathering you can get an overnight permit for Anclote Park and boat ramp for 5.00 a night or 20.00 per month, day use is free but they close at sunset. Call the Holiday Rec. Center @ 727-934-4198 for directions. You must pick up the permit at the Rec. center but It can be done in advance for the weekend you want. No mail in or online registration and they close at dark.

Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
You must have your boat and car registration, it was just such a pain I never even did it. I will checkout a spot to park around the corner by the power plant that might work but thats why I suggested Nicks Park on the Cottee River in NPR

Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007

Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
I'm leaving shortly and this just popped up:
Small craft exercise caution in effect from this evening through Saturday morning-except SeaCrafts |
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
LAST TIME I GOT AN OVERNITE PASS IT WAS VERRY EASY AND THE EXIT GATE WAS MOTION ACTIVATED SO YOU CAN LEAVE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IF NECESSARY ALSO GOOD SECURITY PASCO DEPUITY LIVING AT THE PARK. YOU JUST CAN'T GET BACK IN
UNTIL MORNING. |
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
OK on the ramp issue- we can get the info they require and I can have Mike at American Marine swing by and pick them up ahead of time. This will certainly be the best ramp option as to ramp quality and safety, plus its the closest. Required info:
Vehicle: make-model-color-and tag # Boat: Registration #- make and model- trailer tag The next hurdle will be to get them to folks depending on when the arrive. PS Had a great weekend out there and learned alot, will give a recap with pic's but left the camera at Susans. |
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
Is their a marina near by that has fuel? I can hold enuff to get there and back from bradenton but it depends on how much fishing and how far I plan on run and of course how fast. At WOT an EFI is a thirsty animal!
|
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
Yes fuel is not a problem you run a short distance up the Anclote River there are marina's
|
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
Anything I can do to help let me know park passes etc. I also live on the water nearby so if anyone needs to pick up drop off or whatever. We could proably dock a few as well if anyone staying in a hotel didnt want to pull the boat overnite. Bill 727-422-3885

Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
Thats great I didn't know you were in NPR, I was just trying to figure the parking pass thing out, I'll call you. Also appaerently a guy came in Mikes Marina that has a '72 20 and knows some other guys that have them around NPR and Mario sent them to the site, he was amazed himself how many are around.

Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
BBH57 I'm gonna park my boat behind your house so I can reach the grouper quicker LOL. Did you have a chance to check out the boat parade for the Chasco Fiasco Saturday? It was madness, there was a 57 ciggarette boat tooling around the river, Lots of fun! Will see everyone in a few Saturday's.

It looks like we may have more than enough shrimp for the grill.......they (shrimp) haved moved into the flats around here. Last year our group picked up around 25 pounds on a relaxing May evening. :D

Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
bbh57, please IM resurrection from page 7, his wife has a bad back and he might want to leave the boat at your dock and do the hotel. It is only 5 Mi to the entrance to the channel to the hotel, Gulf Harbors. I have the camera and will post pic's of the actual site tomorrow-lightning game tonight and typing is hard :D one more step to the cup

[image] ]http://www.forumpictureprocessor.com/pictureprocessor/images/100_0045_6.jpg[/image] The Lagoon from in the boat from low tide spot http://www.forumpictureprocessor.com...100_0055_6.jpg Susan using the new open fire cooking rack on the Chicken http://www.forumpictureprocessor.com...100_0058_9.jpg Even the ranger said I picked the best spot, should work well for us, bathroom was close back in the tree's and nice. The swash channel into the lagoon stayed knee deep at a full moon low so any other time is fine and well protected. Reference the pic I posted earlier of the entire point. |
Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007
Thanks for pic's and the info. And I love the long sleeve shirt... makes a daddy proud!
