Glad you are planing to join us bbh57,
We will have segregated areas for non-SeaCrafts :o
Just kidding!!!! We are over 60 confirmed as of today,
this does not include those who have said if they plan on kids, wives, girlfriends and or friends coming with them. As we get closer, I would like to get a better count, so that if the Bennett raffle goes well the club will furnish the main coarse. Bennett Raffle
See ya, Ken

Is it pay camping or just find a spot? Do we need to make reservations? I do not know if I will camp or not. It depends on the wife's back. Going to make the run from Bradenton either way.

resurrection812-It's free to camp. We just need to notify the park ahead of time and give boat reg# and what nights we are there for CG puposes and their stats. Talk to No Bones on a PM to get more info or just check out the link to the park on this thread. Bradenton SC's are going to have a strong showing!

For the wifes sake you can checkout the hotel in the link I posted if its a problem. I think its around $70 and an easy run in and I will have the GPS numbers availible.

Re: Anclote Key Gathering 04/28/2007

I looked at the hotel and did not see that docking is there. I am going to be coming by water so I need a hotel that has a dock. It does take dogs so that is good. I am pretty sure I will camp Saterday night. The weather looks good this weekend for a grouper run!
Thanks tugboat. She when in for a runny nose and came back with that result.

How did the new camping gear work out? Besides the stuff you took with you what things do you wish you had taken?

We also bought new camping gear...

Everything worked perfect- we did not need the 2 burner stove or the 2 mantle lantern- single burner for coffee with only 2 of us-the lantern was used 10 minutes as we have other more eye friendly lights(these factors would be for 2 people)- Susan cooks the taters/onions and the squash/onions pre-wrapped in foil on the grill before the steaks, so no stove needed. We got a large plastic sealable tub and all the plates, silverware, salt pepper, zip locks and that stuff goes in that- 1 item to the beach and extra table space- got a nifty plastic folding "Cafe" table in the Garden Center at WalMart $20-excellent and recommended for all. Tables really help and its an issue we need to deal with with this size group as we could use a bigger one or 2- IM Ken if you have one. Tent stakes have been an issue in the past -sand- I got 4 12" metal stakes at Sports Auth $3.50 (only place I found them) and they worked very good-standard 6" are too short and don't hold-MANDATORY !!!!! The cots worked great as well, I slept great and the ones we got are 16" high and that left all the room under them for storage and no sand in the bed. We have an 8'x 8' tent, they fit although close, got those at the same site as the tent but your not in there much. Another major highlight- I got a little shovel at Ace Hardware approx 36", light as a feather and that worked great for fire pit and moving the wood around- it also was a crutch to help getting my fat ass out of my low chair later in the evening ;)- otherwise that would been an ugly roll and flop fiasco . A piece of indoor/outdoor for the tent front for sand. We have learned alot the last couple years, thats why I offered my phone # and Susans #, you always want to bring too much stuff and we did it again too. For anyone else looking for a small tent-I posted the link to ours earlier, you have to make sure the rain fly does not come down over the windows, the seabreeze kills you, it has to blow through. We will be going to Anclote this Friday, I guess Susan enjoyed herself. We will have more info on bugs, but I would recommend a Thermol Cell(with refill) and 3D UltraThon bug stuff, the 3D is the only one I have found to be effective on noseeum's. They were not a problem this weekend and I will have more info next week specific to Anclote, although I don't expect a big problem with the seabreeze. Sorry to be so long but I hope this helps.

I used to be able to buy that 3M Ultrathon at Walmart but they don't have it there anymore. It is hands down the best bug repellant. What store are you buying it at.

This is the new stuff out by Repel. Plant Based & It's non greasy. I have used it in areas with No-See-ums and it worked. It was written up in Fla Sportsman. Get it at Walley World about $7

- The first truly effective, plant-based insect repellent on the market, Repel Lemon Eucalyptus has been proven to be effective against mosquitoes, deer ticks and no-see-ums for up to six hours.

-Derived from Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus, a renewable resource, this non-greasy lotion and pump have a pleasant scent and are perfect for the whole family.
Oil of lemon eucalyptus, in addition to DEET and Picaridin, has been recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for effective protection against mosquitoes that may carry the West Nile virus.

-Repel Lemon Eucalyptus is the only personal insect repellent product commercially available in the US made with oil of lemon eucalyptus.

Thats where I found it first, I found some cream somewhere but couldn't find the spray which I liked to use on my hair. Thanks Chuck I have seen that, although I rarely have to use anything and have 2 creams that are about full.

Rode up the river yesterday and had a beer with Carl and Jeanne Moesly at there house on the river. I had just returned from trolling and the boat was clean so I thought I would show it off. They both said it was great to have a Seacraft at the dock again, Carl crawled all around it and sat behind the console ready to go. Jeanne is working on a scrap book of their years racing and building boats and plans to bring it to the hotel for everyone to look at. Be sure she shows you the pictures of Carl in the water, I'll leave the story to them...

Jeanne suggested since no one knows each other that we should have some kind of name tags. I'll pick up a pack of stick on name tags and a Sharpe for those of you who don't make your own.

Wavelength- Is that a CC or a SeaVette on your Avatar? I would really like to get a first hand look at one of those SeaVette. Maybe I'll get lucky and one will join us at the gathering.
I did see a fairly good deal on a Sceptre, in case anyone doesn't have a CSC and would like to drive themselves to the festivities  http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/3/6/87377336.htm

For those of you trailering to the gathering you can get an overnight permit for Anclote Park and boat ramp for 5.00 a night or 20.00 per month, day use is free but they close at sunset. Call the Holiday Rec. Center @ 727-934-4198 for directions. You must pick up the permit at the Rec. center but It can be done in advance for the weekend you want. No mail in or online registration and they close at dark.

OK on the ramp issue- we can get the info they require and I can have Mike at American Marine swing by and pick them up ahead of time. This will certainly be the best ramp option as to ramp quality and safety, plus its the closest. Required info:
Vehicle: make-model-color-and tag #
Boat: Registration #- make and model- trailer tag

The next hurdle will be to get them to folks depending on when the arrive.

PS Had a great weekend out there and learned alot, will give a recap with pic's but left the camera at Susans.

Is their a marina near by that has fuel? I can hold enuff to get there and back from bradenton but it depends on how much fishing and how far I plan on run and of course how fast. At WOT an EFI is a thirsty animal!

Also appaerently a guy came in Mikes Marina that has a '72 20 and knows some other guys that have them around NPR and Mario sent them to the site, he was amazed himself how many are around.

Even the ranger said I picked the best spot, should work well for us, bathroom was close back in the tree's and nice. The swash channel into the lagoon stayed knee deep at a full moon low so any other time is fine and well protected. Reference the pic I posted earlier of the entire point.
