Re: some more work, Non skid , console modification
THX for the post...The cooler is molded into the console..one continuous piece and forms the seat in front of the console. But your post gave me an idea, perhaps I can screw some stingers/angle into the deck that go between the outside and iside of the cooler's sides and secure it with some screws fromvthe outside.

Followed this over from SFC. That is one beautiful boat. Excellent craftsmanship as well I will be referring back to this when I start my project.

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...7/DSCN1555.jpg here is the leaning post I put in the boat. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...7/DSCN1547.jpg here is the final engine rigging I didnt really show in any pics. I also put two rod holders in the transom. I also to an extra plug holder cut the back of it off and mounted it next to the engine rigging. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...7/DSCN1548.jpg here is one of the scuppers http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...7/DSCN1551.jpg me and my buddy Kevin in the bow http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...7/DSCN1556.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...7/DSCN1557.jpg |
Re: Finally pics in the water

Re: Started 20' upgrade and restore
Please HELPPPPP... I also have a 20 footer (1979 center console seacraft) that I am trying to restore but I am having a heck of a time getting the fuel tank out... I pulled my console, pulled the 3 "decklids",, un-bolted the 4 brackets on the fuel tank from the hull (2 bolts each),, took a sawsall and cut into the foam all around the tank,,, thinking that all of that would allow me to pull the tank out - I then took 2 floor jacks/double 2 by 4's and steel braided wire to pull the tank up and it didn't budge,, in fact the 2 by 4's were about to snap... Is there something else holding that in??

Re: Started 20' upgrade and restore
Guys thanks again.

Re: Started 20' upgrade and restore
Beautiful! ALso like the fact that you didn't use a bracket, I know they work great but I've never liked the look, I prefer the classic look like yours, congrats!

Re: Started 20' upgrade and restore
bota thanks for the great comments. I put about 150 hours on the boat so far and everything has been working perfectly. Still need to get a 20"pitch prop just to cheap to buy a new one.

Re: Started 20' upgrade and restore
I hate to rehash a old post but I figured better here than a new one.
I just had to post some of the pics of my new windshield that I installed this weekend, I had it made last summer and just never had time to install it until this weekend. It is 3/8 thick plexiglass, I installed it with 1/4 20 bolts with fender washers to keep it from going anywhere. The windshield is shorter than most put on, the reason why I kept it short is I have seen to many people use one as a handle and they end up cracking at the screws. I wanted just enough so if it is raining I can hide behind it and still see. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...7/DSCN1745.jpg side angle. The windsheild is only 10 inches high overall. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...7/DSCN1746.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...7/DSCN1747.jpg I just got her all shined up to drop her in this week sometime for some winter flounder fishing. :D |
Re: Started 20' upgrade and restore
How many hours do you have on her now?
|
Re: Started 20' upgrade and restore
zach I have about 100 hours on it. so far so good. i did have a leak on the livewell at the end of the season so instead of using it, I just decided not to use it until it was fixed. Now that its all fixed. I am ready to go.
|
thinking about selling her as It has not got the use it should. Not sure if I can bring my self to do it.
|
Dont sell man, you put toooo much time and effort into it. Keep it for life and please dont delete the pictures from this thread. I need them to re do mine ;)

Fu%King Awesome Job
Wow that is one nice boat
I was looking at the wiring under the console and started to smile ... my wife asked if I was looking at porn .. I answered yes and turned the screen around to show her .. she shook her head ... they just don't understand Did I read this correctly that it sold for $15,000 .... if so that is a STEAL |
It is true , i sold it for 15k . Should I have asked for 20k maybe , I was realistic in this market didnt want to waste time with 30 people looking at it . Just wanted to move it, a vey good friend bought it so I know where it is. Gonna have to build one for my daughter in a year or two. Might look around for an 18

Want to build one for me?
|
Hey Bill, who manufactures that bench seat pictured in post # 35 of this thread ?
|
Does anyone know where I can get a bench seat identical to the one pictured in post # 35 of this thread posted by Billythekid ?
|
PM responded to, got it off ebay. Had them make it narrower then the one shown

HAHA it would be cheaper for me to buy one for you. They are a labor of love when restoring. I figure I sold it for half of what I had into it with my labor. |
I was'nt refering to the LEANING POST you had in the boat but rather the BENCH SEAT pictured in post #35 sitting on the deck in your shop.
|
C'mon Billy help me out with this one !
|
Hey Billy,
I learned a lot from your thread. I noticed several people including me who used the 2" strips of plywood to make template for the deck. One thing I do not recall is what you used to bond the deck to the stringers. Would you use liquid nails, thickened epoxy or something else? |
Don't mean to hijack this thread but does anyone recognize the helm seat in the mock up picture in post #35 on page 4 of this thread or know who makes it or where it can be purchased ?
|
Seat
Saw one similar on Fabtechmarine.com
They can make any type you would like if you would like if you dont see one. |
