Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Check for that BP station that must be close and also the Sunoco at MM90 when your out cruising around - they are supposed to have non E10 fuel - the Sunoco is supposed to have it on the water as well.

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Of course there is Holiday Isle as back-up.
Or the Lorelei For breakfast there is Mangrove Mike's For dinner (4 star, golden spoon, Zegat recommended) Lazy days Lupe used to be at the Marker 88 of which was a premier dining experience in the Keys... I would recommend Old Tavernier But the Ole' hostess is a smart azz B---- agh, never mind. Sad to say Manny & Isa's second try did not make it. They had the best fish fingers, black beans & rice. Salad dressing was to die for. Their real Keylime pie was the best as well....... You get the picture... We will have fun with or without.. :) See ya all soon, Ken |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
i was in the keys 2 years buying fireworks at phantom and after i went to a restaurant called sundowners. it was a little small place but i thought the food was really good. people were bringing their boats to the dock in the back and coming in. id really like to do something like that. i just think it would be pretty cool to hop in the boat and go to dinner instead of the usual hop in the car.

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Mr. ESD
FYI....Just got back from the Keys a little bit ago, the Marlin station at MM88 had a banner advertising 93 octane non ethanol fuel. |

He will want you to throw the net for him to get bait... See ya there, Ken |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
I see your point.....I will be more careful, my mistake!! We sure don't want the "Mr." to go to his head. However I will be happy to throw the net if he fills my boat with non-ethanol 93 octane fuel.

Thanks Don as long as its someplace and I have 2 other leads already - as far as the net we always have snookerd, banana is being kind - wad would be a better adjective :D :D I hate throwing it but I'm good at it, unless Don wants to show me how good he really is I'll let him try :D |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Never said I was good at it, however if you fill my 144 gal tank I can prove I can throw a "figure 8" with the best of them. Oh yeah, the only thing worse than the cashier calling you Mr. is telling you are older than my dad or even worse, you're as old as my grandfather....I hate that.
|
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Something tells me this gathering will be interesting...
With Island Trader being in the Bungee, agh agh I mean mirror, no, what the heck do they call that room... Oh yeah, The BOOM BOOM Room.. yikes!! Hey Don, I hope your ready for this group, plus have thick skin, cause the insults fly regular with us.. :D Can't wait, Ken :D |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Mr. ESD.............. :D :D :D. That's all we need, a little more power to his head. Mr. "I'm the best BLAH, BLAH, BLAH...............".
|
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
I second the recommendation for Breakfast at Mangrove Mikes. Very fast, clean and lots of good coffee. Loreli can't be beat for 5'clock happy hour............that's where alot of the fishing guides wind up.
Last several times I went to Holiday Isle tiki bar for happy hour it was not good. Very very expensive. Probably a good spot to see some late night drunken 20 somethings practice their mateing rutual. |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering Poll
don't forget to take tons of pictures for us frozen northerners we'll be there in spirit!!
|
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Are there any thoughts on a Saturday night get together for grillin and chillin?
I could possibly host something at Breezy palms. They have a great beach setting, pavillion and huge grill. Thoughts???????????????????????????? |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Quick safety question. I don't have brakes on my trailer. My Volvo has awesome stopping power however the law in the keys may think differently.
I have heard stories of the local police impounding boats/trailers that don't have brakes. Any truth to that?????????? |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Bryan, I think Fla. law requires brakes on any rig over 3000 lbs. Haven't noticed it being enforced very much, but if you ever got into an accident, it could be an issue. Also, the better your tow vehicles brakes are, the easier it is to jack-knife the trailer in a panic stop! Trailer brakes add a lot of stability during a hard stop. I towed my rig for years without trailer brakes, but adding them made a huge difference in stopping ability. I've towed it over 1400 miles in last couple of years, and I wouldn't consider a long trip without them. If you tow very much in heavy traffic, especially on any sort of freeway at high speed, trailer brakes are cheap insurance against running over some idiot that pulls out in front of you without looking! Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Less than 3 weeks away !!
Here are some thoughts ... open for discussion: Friday night, pot luck dinner: Bring your own BBQ item & one side dish to share at Bowrider Campground Saturday night, (after catching fish all day), lets BBQ them up with left over side dishes (always too much brought), social gathering at Bowrider campground, bonfire Sunday night, spoke to Mike at Snappers (mgr) and he can reserve us some tables at the ocean side turtle club deck for drinks, big appetizers (dinner size) with live music & dancing. Dockage available for those coming by boat. Mike is also checking into having delivery of bagged ice into their freezer for us. With the help of coffee pots, electric skillet, some sweet rolls, eggs & bacon can be cooked up for breakfast Saturday & Sunday mornings. Our house will be totally open with Shower & restroom facilities. With 13 CSC members signed up between Bowrider Campgound & Snappers, thought our house would be a good hangout place for everyone. Just bring your own folding chair & drinks. Any thoughts? |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Carla-Thanks again for the gracious offer to use your location. My clan is getting fired up! I spoke to Briguy and he is going to check to see if the Breezy Palms folks would be ok with our group spending time there. We could have Breezy Palms as the POST Sat. eve cook-out location, with pool, ect!?

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
i see fishing all day is the plan for saturday... what kinda fishing are we going to be doing? i really want to do some bottom fishing. is anyone else up for that for a little while at least then off for some YT's or mangos?
i tried to go today and it said 2-4 but it was more like 3-5. the 20 was handling it ok but i didnt see it gettin better any time soon so i turned back. HOWEVER on my way back in a saw a black boat coming at me and did it look sweet. turns out it was a black 23 SC-CC with twin yamaha's on a bracket. it was having no problem going thru those waves today. |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
What we should do is coordinate and all head to the
hump together Saturday morning. We could even get a little calcutta together... Say $50 or $100.. :D It would be a hoot having all of us running out together. See ya, Ken |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
It all sounds great! Breezy Palms is a nice place, keep us posted Briguy.
Also, if anyone wants to take a break from fishing, there's the Islamorada Island Festival happening that weekend at Founders Park, MM 87 Bayside, 10-5pm. Any arrival time is good at the campground. If launching at Harry Harris Park & coming to Snappers or campground, here's an aerial of the location. There is a narrow channel coming into Snappers & it's only 18" deep at low tide until you get past the little bouy on port side, then deepens. Most boats go in & out on plane, but the first time it might be good to take it slow & easy. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1...S-Snappers.jpg |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
Festival ?? you'd have pry the throttle out of my cold fingers LOL -
ramp is nice and close - hours ? will I able to lauch at say 11PM Friday night I have chum and ballyhoo pretty much covered from Key Largo Fisheries MM100 - we will be able to buy chum by the case since we have a few boats, damn site cheaper too - Carla any extra freezer space like down below, just asking ?? I presume Skip has a battery charger as I plan on using my spreader lights and they suck the juice I am so pumped and excited, we will have close to a full moon also - 4/9 |
Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering
