There always has to be a critic somewhere. :-)

You could put the final "Gucci" touches to her like "Polishing" the heads on those Carriage & Engine Bolts ;)

Blue_Heron 05-18-2013 10:25 AM

Wow. She sure is purty. The blue with the coral is a very nice combination. Wish I had your eye for color, Oly.

Those would be nicer if you laser cut the Seacraft logo into each of them! :D

DonV 05-18-2013 10:56 AM

Hummm...lots of sixes in the FL numbers! :)

Chuck is right, Gucci all the way!!!

Ummmmm, that has already been done sir, thought that was why I got the reeward?
I will take closeups towowwo to prove it.
I have a laser cut "SeaCraft" steering wheel nut, does that count points?? :-)
Since this is such a tough crowd, I will be sure to post forensic photographic evidence in the future.

Aneyway----where was I?
Oh yea, polished bolt "heads".
Well, don't want to loose my "Gucci" stamp so here are the pics, not quite as good as Chucks but polished just the same.
Couple of more things. I had mentioned earlier that the "Konk" would have fresh and salt water washdowns. What I did not mention was that would be achieved with one pump and a "Y" valve. Probably one of the items I change out the most is the salt water pumps, they just sit most of the time. This way I can hose down the Mimmossa's/blood/konk guts with salt, then rinse down the decks/womenze with fresh water.
This is a pretty cool washdown quick disconnect.
Having Lewis Marine right out your front door is not always a good thing. For me or the guys, they think it is their personal stock room.

Thank you. Very nice compliment. If I stay with the normal colors I am OK. Get fancy on me and s--- goes south quickly.
This boat kinda transgressed over to the blue side, the Trawler has green in it, but CR was green toned, been there and done that.

RUSTYNTABATHA 05-19-2013 07:01 AM

I LOVE THE COLORS !!!!!!!!!! but i am a Auburn fan... and Were a orange watch...lol My favorite colors are LOUD !!! lol as for the brand.... DAMN !!! hoping my wife of 20 years ( as of May 8th ) gets that figure back.. so i can brand her.... lol

FossilMan 05-19-2013 07:31 AM

Ooooo. I may have to sign up with Lewis just for that quick connect. Very nice! That's a great idea using one pump. I was worried about the saltwater eating the pump in no time. I have one of those Y valves somewhere..... Looking good.

Looking good looking forward to it all done. Perhad the trawley is due for a mAkeover

Pics of the trawler would be cool when you have a minute.

bitsamonkey 05-19-2013 02:53 PM

Hey, nice work. I like the color and layout. I guess that '69 you picked up from me a few years ago was just a little too far gone. Too bad, the underwater before" pictures would have made the "after" shots that much more impressive.
I would like some more info on the trawler too, I'm really starting to think that's the perfect combo.

RUSTYNTABATHA 05-19-2013 04:48 PM

Since we are kin and all .. I may have to stop in for a visit on my way to or from the keys this year... we head down the 28 th of june to Islamorada till the 4th and check in Key West on the 4th till the 7th... Brother in-law is bringing his Hydra sports down from Orlando.. we fish hard till we head to key west....

Caymanboy 05-19-2013 06:13 PM

Yep, since we are kin and all. One question, you did say you like Auburn, right? Cause I see Orange Beach Alabamy on your hailport, and I am no fan of that Bama coach. :-)
Now, late June, there is probably a pretty good chance the new "Konk" and I will be on a photoshoot with LLL/TM II in the Bahama's mon. :-)

Two women in the fishbox is one too many unless you are faster than Bruce Lee and have lots of fried plantains and sushi.

RUSTYNTABATHA 05-20-2013 02:38 AM

WAR EAGLE... I was born and raised in Pensacola... Great Grandmaw was die hard bama and i sat with her every sunday and listened to Bear on the radio show... I rebel'd against the family deciding i was going to be a Auburn Fan... Never did like any of the Florida teams.. may have to tag along on one of you adventures across the stream one day... don't have a live aboard yet so we'd have to hit a hotel or tent it... at some point i will be making a deck extention and pad for the bow and a "tent enclosure" to go over it... thats a long way off in the future right now...

Caymanboy 05-20-2013 05:16 AM

No problem. I'm not a real fan of the Florida teams either, I am just NOT a fan of anything Sabin touches.
I've camped numerous times on the SeaCraft under the stars, been lucky I guess, I get a room if someone needs creature comforts (bed, a/c).
That would be fun, I plan a couple of trips over this summer, some in June in the SeaCraft and end of July I will take the Mak E and SeaCraft to Cat/Bimini are for a week. No Abaco's this year. :-( don't really have the time.

Boot went on yesterday, came out nice, look's dark, but I am sure when it gets in the sunlight it will be fine.
Got the "pump room" wired up, space is getting to be a premium.
Console goes in today, then start wiring that in.
Cali this week end, then come back and get this thing wired up!
Bahamas weather is here!!

Had a little progression on the bote.
Boot top is done, bottom painted, console in, start to get that wired in.
One of the things I didn't mention was, I changed the cooler in the seat to a water tank.
In the old boat, that is where the batteries, a small water tank (6 gals) and the sub went. This water tank is bigger, but room is tight, need to put two batteries and a sub in still, won't be a lot of room left for bags.
And I must say, laying the boot's on the bow sections of a SeaCraft, is like no other boat. ;-)

bitsamonkey 05-23-2013 09:53 AM

I like that water tank idea! How many gallons were you able to fit up there? Should help balance that bracket nicely.

Caymanboy 05-23-2013 10:22 AM

I'm guessing 25 gals give or take. Not bad. :-)

You could use a "Bladder Tank" for the fresh water stowed in some tight place. (even under deck) They come in all shapes & sizes thus maintaining your Baggage / Cooler area.

Just a thought ;)

Sooo, I made the trek from sunny SoFl to Cali.
Long trip on an A320, Non stop, coach. Couple of observations since my arrival.
-There are ALOT of people leaving the interior trying to reach the coast for a Saturday.
-The farmers must know something we don't in Fl or the Real Estate agents aren't as smart, miles and miles of farmland, RIGHT on The Flippin COAST!!!! The real estate agents from Fla must go B-- Sh--- when they see this, all that prime property growing strawberries..
-It's cold out here.
I will be seeing Strick while I'm here, any man with talent and a sense of humor like his deserves to be met. Hide your daughters. :-)
-There is a "little" wedding in Big Sur this week, stay tuned. ;-)
PS: Stay in touch and visit good old freinds, life is short.

You will be disappointed in real life...I'm not very entertaining.... We have these people in California called environmentalists. They can make life difficult for developers and the like. Enjoy Santa Cruz and Monteray. Try not to catch a cold while you here!

Yea, and what's up with that? I have seem more Tesla's here, than I have in my entire life. (2) Right along side more old gas loving hogs like I own 96' or older Detroit, US of A iron.
But for the life of me have yet to see a "Tree Hugger" or "Manatee lover". Is there a special habitat for them? :-)
Want to go poke my finger in their cage.

RUSTYNTABATHA 05-26-2013 10:35 AM

you guys kill me !! i would sit around a fire and have a beer ... but i heard that fires are by permit only and you have to pay a carbon tax on the smoke from an actual fire there and beer is unhealthy... so have a wheat grass shake and sit in the shade so you dont get skin cancer...LOL sorry i crack myself up sometimes with my sarcastic humor... Would love to hang with you guys and bond over stories of SeaCrafts saved !!!

"But for the life of me have yet to see a "Tree Hugger" or "Manatee lover". Is there a special habitat for them? :-)"

Yes Sir, there is!! You are right in the heart of their habitat (especially if they had Manatees out there!). Be careful and don't say something like...."it's too bad they don't taste like chicken" when you mention Manatees!!! They have NO sense of humor. :)

Funny that you mention that.
I'm staying at a friends just south of Santa Cruz, cute little spot on the beach, quiet.
There have all these little pits for fires down by the beach, never did see an Inspector for the permit, I was just surprised to see the fire pit, I expected to get arrested for smoking my cegar out there this am. Fire pits, beach??? Did I mention it was cold out here??
And quiet? Aneyway, figured later I would take my cegar, head down to the beach and ask them where they do the filet and release on the seals. This is Cali ya know and no self respecting manatee would swim in water this cold. ;-)
Figure tween the cegar and my seal question, it would shake things up on the beach.
Which brings back another question. Is life so stressful out here that you have to go surfin at 0600 in freezing cold water?? What's up with that?
Fishing in warm water I can see, surfin at 0600 in abalone cold water, not so much-----. ;-)

Monteray at Fisherman's Warf. That's where they like to hang out. The Aquarium is the nursery. Watch out down there. I had some boy scout looking type young man run up to me one day and told me I was getting too close to the Sealion. Never saw him coming. They are sneaky. It gets better when you get past Carmel....

DonV 05-27-2013 10:32 AM

That's F'ing funny!!! Sneaky little turds!

Last time I was in San Diego the sea lions had made homes on all the boats, especially those with swim platforms, and they do not go out in the water to "relieve" themselves, they are messy, nasty!! You have no choice but to have full canvas covers or they will poop inside your boat!! :(

Don't like surfin' with an 8MM wetsuit with a hoody? Whats wrong with you?

You should come for lobster season, its Oct to March. Its great. 50 degF water, murky from the winter swells with things that go bump in the dark.

Recently great white shark attacks have resulted in deaths on the beaches. Meanwhile people argue over access rights - humans vs seals - at the the Childrens Pool in La Jolla. Those arguing for the seals are never in the water and fail to understand that the Great Whites love seals. This problem will get worse.

But hey, that sweet, succulent, savory flavor of tasty as spiny lobster after you thaw out makes it all worthwile:D.

Down south the seaside farms grow tomatoes. Private gardeners grow interesting weeds for medicinal use.

Oh Yeah, there is no fishing allowed in CA, warm or cold water...
