Spider's Girlfriend

Sandy, I was layin awake the other night think'n 'bout Spider Crabs Girlfriend. Do she got any sisters or anything? I know she's Spidey's cousin an I know you guys is pretty good friends. She got most her teef an she real cute, but she's a little shy and I was wonderin' what you could tell me bout her sisters? I know her Mom's workin' on the chain gang and a gator got her granny but then when I run her family tree on Ancestory.com it looks like a mangrove or a banyan tree! Anyways, gittin back to the main topic at hand - Do she got any sisters cute as her an do you think they like Stone Crabs???

Homosassa Gathering

Gentlemen, I released the Room "block" today, as required to not be penalized. I think they do have a few vacancies at McRae's on the weekend of November 7th. It looks like 20-24 are coming at this time. Call Wendy or Lynn at (362) 628-2602, if you are able to determine a "trajectory for your life" on that weekend and want to enjoy good friends, good food, good times and good boating.

TomParis 10-22-2015 10:35 AM

15 days, who is getting excited!

Vezo, Part II 10-22-2015 12:09 PM

Ok, I have been relinquished of my responsibilities! I will be twenty miles south on Wednesday and have ample room for a boat, trailer, rig and a couple if anyone is traveling early. Does 300 little necks sound sufficient? Also, I will have enough aged firewood for one night but cannot stay overnight because of my dog. And my MA will not be in tow. But I am Pumped!!!

Vezo, Part II

pelican 10-25-2015 11:54 PM

looking like i'm gonna take a ride over for this gathering - no boat will be coming...

just me, and the road king - quick day trip

put a name to a few faces

kmoose 10-26-2015 08:22 AM

Mel and I will probably just sleep in our own bed at home considering we live 30 or so minutes away. Any trip set up overnight requires the puppies to be put in prison.
What are the options for keeping the boat in a slip there? If someone without a sled is staying and can add my Tsunami to their room we will be more than happy to pay the premium.

Excellent, I was gitt'in worried about two things - 1) Hush Puppies and 2) Corn Hole!!
Bring the Biloxi Raider, we'll figure something out, Capt.

DonV 10-26-2015 10:00 AM

Jeeeez Terry, I was hoping Mel would leave those Philadelphia Eagles corn hole boards in Ocala. Maybe she has some Buccaneer's boards she could bring, then like the Bucs no one would be able to win.

Vezo, Part II 10-26-2015 11:08 AM

Ken, there are ample slips available there. If you called, and enough rooms rented as a group, I'm sure they will allow you to keep the boat there a couple of nights. Whaler events there in the past are a little blurry, but it's not the type of place to take inventory. The Tiki Hut is very popular on weekends with tons of bikers coming thru, and the ramp is public. Tow rigs park up the hill from the motel area, but rentals can park inside and insight of the rooms. I think everyone is really going to like this spot. About the dogs, how many are you talking?

Michael.

I don't think we are bringing any dogs but maybe a Grandbaby. For the most part we are just going to commute back and forth from the house to keep the puppies happy at home. Daughter and G-baby will probably make appearances throughout the weekend. If I have a slip to keep the boat there under somebodies room name I'll be good. I'm off as of the 5th. so if the weather cooperates my sled will be offshore most of the time.

Ron, Snookerd says the Captains Meeting starts at 7:00 PM on Friday night at the Freezer (5590 - S Boulevard Drive, Homosassa - about 4 block SSE from MacRae's) Order the steamed shrimp - it's the best!
We'll put the Yamaha I-4, 200 hp torque curve discussion on the agenda under consent items - it'll go better with a beer!

DonV 10-28-2015 06:37 PM

It seems Terry, Marsha and friends know where the fish are holding ready to be shot for Saturday's dinner, that's not counting the one's in the vacuum bags looking forward to be fried and then devoured. That being said, I'll bring the propane, cook stand, cast iron pot, peanut oil, hush puppy mix and fish fry mix for Saturday night.
I'd rater talk about which is best, Ford/Chevy/Dodge or Booker/Daniels/ol' Pappy versus the Yami I-4 200. Should be more fun. I'm mostly over the Yamaha thing.

bumpdraft 10-28-2015 07:02 PM

I'm done talking about yami I 200s. Just trying to keep my whimpy 225 going. Shrimp always sounds good.

Yea, some of these guys would argue with you if you told them "Good Morn'in!" Of course the Irish comes out in me sometimes and I dive right in - chromosomes, I guess! Then the Swedish kicks in and I think "Who wants to be seen standing on the street corner arguing with an idiot?" People might be confused about who the idiot is! It's just too funny.
We'll get all this Chit straighten out in Homer Sasser, Trooper.

Homosassa Gathering Weather forcast

Weatherbug shows wind at 2 mph from the NE on Friday and 4 mph from the NE on Saturday - bring the Scampi, we'll run to Cedar Key!
The neighbor caught a 28" grouper pole fishing in 8' of water.
Hitch 'em up and point 'em toward the "Sasser" - might be real good this year! No "fronts" yet to stir things up so far.
I'm running to 28' of water tomorrow to "scout" (20 miles out!) I will report back on Sunday.

TomParis 10-30-2015 07:55 PM

Cant wait, really looking forward to next Saturday!

Sounds good Terry! If the weather holds I'm going to opt for a little longer fuel burn and run out to 80'. I have a couple of spots that have been unmolested for over a year and I don't want the season to pass without a chance to shoot a couple of black bellies.

Good morning Kmoose.

I'm pretty sure I saw your old Fleetcraft listed for sale in the Tarpon Springs section of Craigslist. I have my brother's 1974 23' T Craft here in Geneva, Fl. with me and the hull looks very similar.

I had hoped to make a day trip over to Homosassa and meet some of the club members, especially Skip and Carla who graciously looked over a 76' 23' Seacraft inboard for me in Tavanier.

Would anyone have any available deck space for another rider/fisherman? I've been told that I'm a decent deck hand. We mainly fish out of the east coast at Ponce Inlet or Port Canaveral.

Yep, that's my ol girl and the original photo I sold her with in my front yard. Pat bought her and commercial spearfished for quite a few years on it. It is a very fast and light hull and the layout is rare. Probably a one of a couple made as I have never seen another one ever. It is a true formula splash and whoever did it did an exceptional job. I'm sure it is banged up pretty good by now but it's a rare find and a sexy hull worth a restore.

Mel and I drug out the sled and thoroughly scrubbed and waxed her to a gleaming glow. Well Mel did most of it but I really worked hard rinsing the soap off and keeping her in clean buffing towels..... She really cleaned up nice and I wouldn't sell her for double what I have in her.

All ready for next weekend! Anybody getting there Thursday?

NoBones 10-31-2015 09:05 PM

Thank God I have my in house boat detailer on site...;)

We ran south to about 22' off of Aripika, worked northwest to about 30 off of the Chaz. Grouper were bigger toward the North, many of the undersized everywhere. Lots of Hogs and Mangos all along the way. WATER Conditions : Temp.- 77 degrees, 15-20 viz., Full moon tide driven current will ease up by next weekend!

Good deal Terry. Mel and I took the sled over to MacRae's Sunday morning to scope out everything and run the channel as it has been a while. MacRae's was pretty crowded and parking was very limited due to the overall crowd that congregates at the tiki bar. It will be important for all coming to get there early and stake a claim on parking if they are trailering over. The whole place has had quite a makeover since I have last been there. Docks are all new and we should have room for all the boats without issue.

Mel and also decided to crack the piggy bank open and get a basic room from Thursday thru Sunday as we just don't want to miss what happens when the sun goes down on a gathering of this magnitude.

Terry, do you have or know anyone with a cooler/gear cart we all could use for the event? I have procrastinated to long putting one together and I don't want to wear Mel out schlepping tanks and ice back and forth from the room and boat.

I'll bring a little wagon. Is small but I can fit in it if I'm curled up. Marsh brougt me home from the bar a couple times in it - she's the "Designated Draft Horse"

It saddens me to have to cancel my trip to Homosassa this week. My surgey two weeks ago is still bothering me too much. Can't stand for very long, walk very much, or sit without my dognut. The only thing not affected is Happy Hour !

My wife and I was really looking forward to meeting The SeaCraft crowd. Hopefully we can in the future
