Somebody is doing more than playing a Banjo at 3pm on a Sat afternoon !

NoBones 01-22-2018 07:15 PM

Dueling banjos

uncleboo 01-23-2018 07:51 AM

Shall I bring some moonshine?

DonV 01-23-2018 01:44 PM

Heck yes!! Spidey likes moonshine almost as much as he likes his 400 pound girlfriend!! :)

kmoose 01-23-2018 04:38 PM

Is anybody coming early? Mel and I will be there Sunday the 6th and will spend the week hunting gaffer Mahi and bagging our two grouper a day.

Hey, if the weather is good I'm game. There are fish between FP and West End and you can always stop a try your luck. Still a ways off but ya don't want to wait until the last minute. :)

Are we talking a day trip or multi day? 82 nautical is a hike one way to reception for a day trip. If the weather is good and you can cruise @ 30 knots you are still looking at a 2.5 hour run which isn't too bad but weather can be a factor either way. When Mel and I went last time from Boynton it was only 52 nautical. Getting there was a breeze but it took 4 ugly hours to get back.... Well, it was ugly for me but not so much for sleeping beauty.

If this is really being considered for some you may want to get on the horn for rooms. Vita's place is usually booked solid but their prices are reasonable. The other place right around the corner usually has availability but its going to be 300 a night if you're not staying a full week.

Not worth it, IMHO. I did the run last year (2.5 hrs with great seas, 4 plus hours with anything else-That's crossing 56 miles, not 80-90miles). It would need to be overnight, which kills the chance to hangout with the CSC crowd who doesn't go (most members). No reason not to get way out there hunting dolphin during the day, though!

NoBones 01-26-2018 07:20 PM

You guys are cracking me up...
Oh my a 3 hour boat ride to catch fish....

That is the norm for us running out of Ponce Inlet ! :)

You clear the inlet at 6AM, Lines out of the water at 3PM....

Head in :D

I get what you are saying as last week I had to run 51 nautical to get AJs out of Cedar Key but I didn't run 80 nautical and have to deal with forms, fees and permits at reception at the west end. By the time you get back to where the fish are you are 5 hours into your day with another 3+ hour ride back. I'll take a Ponce run any day over that cluster. I'm willing to bet you would out fish any of us out of your home port than two of us running over there. :D

That's why the CSC Bahamas Gathering at Grand Cay for 3-5 days needs to happen. Next June, brothers........It is not Grand Bahama version of the Bahamas, actually Walkers Cay type seclusion with way less pressure from the SE FL crowd. Rooms are only $125 a night for a suite with a kitchen at Josey Wales place......

gofastsandman 01-27-2018 09:12 PM

Also consider that halfway there is considered fishing in Bahamian water.

We always produce food to make Cape Cod jealous.

bumpdraft 01-30-2018 04:41 PM

out to lunch

Took wife out for lunch today at the edge. Wind was blowing a good 25 out of the north across the channel.

NoBones 01-31-2018 01:03 PM

I hear you on the 25 MPH out of the north Ron....

Driving down A1A through Flagler Beach, FL. yesterday and yes it was brisk !

The ditch (Intracoastal Waterway) would have been the channel of choice
for sure..:)

Can't wait, I really have a good feeling about this new location for our gatherings on the East side...

Time to sign up and join the fun before it is to late !

Well, I got this e-mail this morning;

Marina Construction Update

Dear Cam Benedict:

The construction of our new Marina has not moved along as we originally planned. It was our plan to complete one dock and open it before any other docks were demolished. We were recently informed that we are not going to be allowed to open any of our new docks until the last dock has been completed.

They are going to start demolishing our last remaining dock on February 13, 2018. We will not have any boat slips available or facilities for fishing until completion of the project.

Eric B 02-05-2018 12:08 PM

Got the same email........

bumpdraft 02-05-2018 12:52 PM

Uhh o , now what? When I was there, I asked about the new marina, if it was going to be done by May. I got a hope so, but I figured that the other dock would be there.

Vezo, Part II 02-05-2018 01:18 PM

Is the Sebastian location from 2 years back available again? That was a cool venue with ample parking to your room, and safe place to secure trailer. I liked it anyway.

Part II

bumpdraft 02-05-2018 02:41 PM

Wish it was now. When I checked months ago, they told me that they were only going to have rooms on a weekly basis. I could ask again or look at this other place up the road. Problem is, a lot of us made reservations. This all might just work out and the docks will be done by May, but I don't think I'm into leaving my boat on the trailer parked across the street.

NoBones 02-05-2018 04:28 PM

We may need to re-think this dock issue...
Natural High (Eric) called Saturday and they informed him of the issue.

I have not heard from Dock Side which kind of ticks me off !

There are several places in Stuart that are "Cracker" style which would
work... Have to get Capt. Chuck on recon..

It is always something !

DonV 02-05-2018 04:51 PM

Sorry did not see the post string from Old'sCool down. I just got the call this morning from Dockside, no email. Anyway, see below.

Alright.......here we go......

Some very bad news, the Dockside is in the process of putting in new docks, marina, fuel docks, etc., now the bad part, they were informed Friday by the contractor the docks will NOT be ready by May. I asked if there was any options such as leaving our boats on trailers in their lot, and she told me there is only room for five or six which is not good enough for us. I also asked if there might be another location she could recommend, no luck.

Anyway suggestions are needed on how to proceed. I guess we can try to reschedule or cancel. I told her I would get back to her this week.

Follow up....I called back and the best they can do to block off rooms and reschedule us would be after the summer, September at the earliest.

bumpdraft 02-05-2018 06:28 PM

September at the earliest? No ambiguity there. (sent pm btw)

NoBones 02-05-2018 07:13 PM

Capt Chuck said check out River Palms
in Jensen Beach, which is just past FP..

Bumpdraft (Ron) is going to check about Capt Hiram's in Sebastian...

Either way I vote dump Dockside !

DonV 02-05-2018 07:47 PM

I'm with ya Ken, it's not like the Dockside just found out yesterday out of the clear blue sky they were going to be working on the docks!!!!!!! :(

River Palms looks sweet, I like the old time Florida places!! We had a nice number of bookings at the Dockside, hopefully this forced change in venue will keep everyone coming!!!

Dang it!!

NoBones 02-05-2018 09:02 PM

The place is pet friendly Mike & Lucy are safe !!

DonV 02-05-2018 09:24 PM

Lucy I can see.....Mike being safe?...let me think about that for a minute!! :)

New fuel docks?

PSL/Jensen ok?
I can make 2 calls.

Vezo, Part II 02-05-2018 10:15 PM

You guys know I’ll be there, wherever it is. This one was not only closer to Palm City, but I did notice the Pet Friendly sign. My mom battled three different types of cancer for 22 years, passed in 2000, and yes a big contributing factor in my PTSD diagnosis in 2014. The happiest day she ever saw me is when I pulled in her driveway, New Port Richie in 1996, with my MA in tow. I can’t think of a better place to be than with my fellow SeaCraft nuts on Mother’s Day! She’ll be shining on us all that weekend.

GFS, don’t panic for a room, we were on Standby for (FlexPat) Mitch’s room, just like last time in Sebastian.

Michael and Lucie standing by with full intentions of unveiling/transporting the Ma out of her garage.

NoBones 02-05-2018 10:37 PM

We need to act fast, whatever the group decides and go with it..
Sandy, make your calls tomorrow !

Reach out to who you have a number for that has not chimed in
to get the ball rolling. I texted Snooky, & Capt Terry..

I think the River Palms looks real nice and affordable after
going through there web site...

I posted the link above.

Will call them in the AM and report back..
Hopefully bumpdraft does the same ..

Lets roll.

And thank you Don for your concern of my safety. I sincerely appreciate it. If anyone would rather I bring Part I’s senti-MENTAL value, with APBA helmets and racing vests, he’d probably let me. Don’t worry GFS, the shit will fit. Just know that my brother will require I where my helmet from the time Skiff leaves SC, until it is returned to SC. Fortunately both helmets are OPEN faced! Haha!!!

DonV 02-05-2018 10:45 PM

Hey, no problem Michael, just trying to keep an eye on you!! :) It's not a one man job!

From my PMs and from today's "chatter" on this subject the Dockside Inn is pretty much kaput!! Let's hope between Sandy and Ron we can pull something out of the hat, or out of our rear, for the FL east coast gathering this year.

Snookerd 02-05-2018 11:08 PM

River Palms looks good. After Chucks recon, lets pull the trigger!
