That Boeshield T-9 is great as a water displacer, but you might want to shoot it with some Corrosion X now. Shake the can constantly to keep it from clogging the nozzle.

As a very young child, we were driving around Padanarum harbour when a 30 ft sloop caught fire and burned to the waterline in about 5 minuites flat. I don`t carry a fire extinguisher, I carry 3.

FluidFilm is very similar to Corrosion X, but must also be shaken frequently. I've been using it for years, spraying the motor 4 or 5 times a year. It feels like oily paraffin. These are essential products for boats that live in saltwater.

I carry 3 on my Seafari as well: one on the bulkhead by the helm, one on the riser in front of the motor well, and one under the passenger side seat. In 40+ years of boating, I've twice needed an extinguisher. Once when a friends 302 Formula blew oil out of the breather and caught fire, and once when a nearby boat had an outboard motor catch fire when the owner sprayed ether into an overheated motor. The first one had a non-functioning automatic halon system, and burned to the waterline, the second one we put out with my extinguisher, took the plastic bag off the lower unit, and he drove it home.

Thanks for your expertise, Fr. Frank. Looks like your method works well. Hope I never have to deploy it but I think I might just tuck a few tractor tubes in a hatch along with a 12 volt compressor, and a manual diaphragm pump, too.

the 12v compressor idea won't work that well. You need the attachment to go onto the low-pressure inflater hose from the 1st stage of your SCUBA regulator, or a dedicated low-pressure hose. You can buy both easily. $35 for the attachment last time I bought one about 8 years ago.

I'm glad you are safe and you salvaged her!! I also must say how I may have to rethink my thoughts on my seafari. Like seafari25 i've got lucky too. Actually lucky three times with mine. Two times on my moring and once at about 1:30 in the morning. Two times I showed up at my moring to see water right over my transom completely flooding the boat!!!! Couldn't believe she was still floating the tuff part was just spining her around carefully not to flip her and once she was spun around me and a friend pulled as hard as we could to get the transom pulled up on the shore so the water would go below the top of the transom so we could bail her out. And the third time was one time in the middle of the summer SLEEPING!!! on her and waking up at 1:30 in the morning to go to the bathroom and as I got up and put my feet down the water was above my ankles!!!!!! I freaked out and got her running and it took for ever to get her up close enough to a plane (because of the weight) so I could have my frantic girlfriend take the wheel so I could pull the plug in the bilge and drain the water out while taking our freaked out early 2am drive around the bay!!!! lol funny now that I think about it but man were we lucky!!!! Just felt like putting out a couple of story's so you wouldn't feel alone!!! Glad everything worked out for you!!! Good Luck!!!!!!
