Re: Tsunami/Sceptre continued......

Well.it has been quite a while since I have posted regarding the Sceptre..that I sold to a friend :D..
Windshield is off and have been moving along on filling all holes on the inside...
Questions
Regarding the windshield..we are going to go white...should we have it powdercoated or paint it with some type of two part epoxy and prior to paint use an aluminum etching primer????
We are going to go fighting lady yellow on hull and green bottom...not my choice of course!!!!
Pics to follow!!!!

Re: Tsunami/Sceptre continued......

Dont know of any two part epoxy paints that work with UV exposure. I did mine with Awlgrip. Sand the windshield frame wash and spray with Awlgrip 545 the same day. Then paint with Awlgrip 2 part polyurethane when you wish. No etching primer needed in this application.

I don't know if this will have enough juice to clean up the windshield, but it's worth a try.

Tim..thanks for that DIY...will try it out..windshield not that bad but we decided that it will stand out like a sore thumb when boat is painted..!!!
We are just trying to get all holes filled etc and get it sealed up!!!
Strick...I was thinking of awlgrip as well....have you used it on aluminum in the past and how does it hold up in your opinion..looks great on your Seafari!!

Re: Tsunami/Sceptre continued......

First time using it on aluminum so I will have to tell you in a couple years how it holds up. Looks like it is on there pretty good. Awlgrip usually wont budge. I re did my outdrive on the 25 with zince cromate primer and then spray paint from Moeller. The windshields sand very easily. If there is lots of corrosion and pitting then you may want to blast with the contraption Tim posted. :D
