egg, are you wanting to go night snapper fishing ?
i can bring you a battery charger if you need it. ill have to get a new spreader light if thats the case. for some reason the lens is missing on mine.
65, is there a fee for harry harris park?? if there is i might as well leave my boat in the water.

Maybe, if nothing else just throw a chum bag and see what swims up - maybe just come with me, Susan does not fish much and I drive her crazy. Susans idea of fishing having a rod in the water, if fish keep getting on it every 30 seconds she gets annoyed and is done :D

Yeah, those Sabiki rigs will do that
Dog, if you switch Susan to a larger bait you may improve
the time to every 60 seconds.. :D :D

See ya there, Ken

Last time we went grouper fishing the short grouper and grunts were just all over us, which is what I was thinking about, she'd probably be better trolling. She also mentioned maybe she would like to go to the festival.

She's thinking of taking Fri afternoon off, so we would get there much earlier, as well.

Snappers ... MM 97.5
Harry Harris Park ... MM 92.5 Distance is shorter by boat.
Park is open from Sunrise to Sunset. There is a $5 fee on weekends by non-residences (If Skip goes with you, you'll get in free)

No problem with battery charger, Skip has one.
Sorry, no extra freezer.

16 more days!

Your in Danny, I presume your a crackerjack at catching hoo's on hook and line - I doubt we will use the net

I think that is the price for touristo's - just have skip there and its 5 I guess - wonder if they will question how many boats skip owns LOL
Not sure there but its usually for parking - so maybe put in and flee the area quickly :D

Danny,

If 'yer not bringing a boat, make sure you pack up all your trolling and offshore rigs. Leave the rods at home.

Kimberlee said ok to the girls hanging out at breezy palms pool Fri or Sat.

Hopefully the adults can go out for happy hour one night.

Carla since we don't have an extra freezer maybe don't stock up frozen food that week and we stick a couple boxes of chum in there, what ya think ?? :D

ESD, Styro coolers work good for bait/chum.

There's trailer parking at Harry Harris park, but only daytime. Any campers can park truck/trailers across the street from our place in the vacant lot. Website says $5 fee for non-residents on weekends ... Harry Harris Park, Tavernier, Fl

Heard the Sunoco station has rigged bally, about MM 98-99.
The guy went out the other day & caught Wahoo chest high, day before caught several dolphin. He goes out a couple miles, just past the reef in 100-140 depth & trolls south.

It's been real windy here lately, may need some good tie-downs for the tents.

Blue197320 03-22-2009 11:19 AM

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering

there is a headboat at about mm99 i think and they went out friday to about 100 feet and got a ton of snapper and 2 wahoos a king and a dolphin just anchored. might be something to think about.

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering

Drifting with baits up in the column and near the bottom are excellent strategy - although tough to drift with the wind up. Ballyhoo are readily caught on hook and line in a chum slick with hair hooks, then drifted or put on the bottom. The Gulf Stream had been very close, like 1/2 nautical miles off the reef edge. A little trick I used once is drift down current of the drift boats about 400 yds - double sail hook up, drifting dead hoo's -they make a good chum line

yes i have learned a little trick for that. you have to peel the shrimp pieces and then they attack it. they also like the crumbs in the bottom of the pringles can so i was thinking of trying some little bread balls as well..

I hear they got nuts over a french hard roll in the afternoon but prefer crossants in the am :D

when we go snapper fishing we should just go together and anchor close and all the chum will help - some can catch the hoo's then too

Oh this WIND IS KILLING ME. It has been blowing for about a week now. 30- KTS solid all day today. Oh well, rigging a few of Sandy's baits, a 12 pack and a nice cigar under a palm tree is still not a bad way to live.

My fingers ooopsed ... Snappers at MM 94.5 ...
Directions: Heading south on US1, you'll pass a MM95 sign on right side of road, then 1/2 mile further south you'll see on left, a large Snappers Restaurant & Dove Creek sign. Turn left there onto Ocean View Blvd. Street ends at Snappers, turn left again on Seaside Avenue. (Some GPS will tell you to turn right) We're 3rd house on right, Octagon shape.

If you get lost, call my cell (561) 386-3776.
If you want better directions, call Skip (561) 386-3774.

Overnight parking across the street from us in the empty lot (no overnight parking at Harry Harris boat ramp)

See ya soon!

I have great news! My hard drive crashed this morning at work soooooooooo guess what? I have to work from "HOME" for the next 3-4 days while we Fed EX my drive to Tampa. Gosh darn, I hate working from "Home"

I may be getting a real early start Thursday AM. My cell is 941-544-7400 if anyone wants to hook up. Feel free to stop by Breezy Palms or give me a call to BS. Brian

Good for you Capt. I am also considering working from home starting tomorrow afternoon. An executive decision is in the works......DONE!

Hey Blue...now that I may have some more free time this week, I will make the necessary arrangements to make it down to the keys hopefully this Friday. Boat is ready, new engine, good sound system....now, if I could only persuade one of my Brazilian bikini model girlfriends to tag along.....figure that we will need someone to clean all the fish we all are planning to catch!... ;)

Its funny how I have never been able to sleep before a keys trip either, and Renee cant sleep like a week before a keys trip. She gets as excited as our greyhounds do before a walk

:D Anyways we will be heading down on Thursday as soon as I get off my flight from TX. Between Traveling for work, and semi-guiding Turkey hunts on weekends for extra $$ I have slept at home twice in 30 days.

ICE WILL BE AVAILABLE AT SNAPPERS ... ANYTIME !!!!!

Mike (Snappers) is having a huge delivery of ice coming into the freezer for us. 10 lb bags, $2 each. So much better than running to the store everyday.

You want ice??? just let me know, I have the key.
See you all soon!

Yikes....10 shots. After that I could never shot par.....wait I can't shot par now anyway. I'm hoping Robcar takes it easy on the Braziian bikini models, I'm thinking I'm gettin my hopes up for no reason.

I see the web site is rather busy today

I'm still hoping to make it, about 75% sure I'll be able to now. I'll be coming in Sat morning after running the boat down from Ft Lauderdale.

Is this a pretty accurate guess as to where everyone will be (where the red A is)? I figured an aerial map may help any others who are running the boats down.

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering

Yep if you go google earth you can see the channel that comes straight into Snappers there and get the GPS numbers for the end. With the wind from the south if you can't make it in the boat just come, should be room as we usually have as many extra boats as we do food.
If you don't google earth let me know I'll post the numbers since I have to go them anyway.

zach 04-01-2009 05:20 PM

If you don't mind, that'd be great if you could post them. I'm sure others would find it helpful as well.

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering

Don't worry Don....I will either bring the Brazilian bikini models or a big bottle of tequila. Because after 10 shots, they all look the same and the grunts taste like grouper! :D

Rob

DonV 04-01-2009 05:57 PM

Re: Keys Own the Poll Position 4/3/2009 Gathering

Yeah.....after 10 shots it's way too late to worry about minimum standards!! They are WAY out the window!! One thing that does seem to improve after 10 shots is the number, size and quality of the fish you caught that day!!

Looks like a great weekend is coming together very nicely!!
