Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
Bones I agree - fair does not come into the fishing discussion - I presume in that neighborhood no need to spend hours on mullet and crabs - they seem to eat dead dines just fine too - at least my $10 worth

Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
Ken, I'm less than a minute from Robbies, the greatest business in America!! They buy frozen 50 pound boxes of shrimper's by-catch no one else wants for dirt cheap, give you about five of the little fish for $3 in a bucket, you go down and throw them at the tarpon and fight of the pelicans.....all day and year long. The ROI has to be just crazy!!!

Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
Extra campsite GFS ??? From our group? I am looking forward to the trip! I fished the Skyway a couple weeks ago. Mann stretch 25's and some topwater plugs. Corbin caught a Spanish Mac trolling and we dropped a nice mullet and pin fish (on steriods) on another line around the pilings. No tarpon, but the guy next to us got a sweet hook-up. Looking forward to trolling for dolphin off PB.....

Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
Weird winter. The inversion was much later and the colder temps haunted. Late.
Lucky us. :D Cheers, GFS |
Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
Danny,
Everything was late this spring with the record highs. The Cobia have gone north, but not before I put my old friend from Vt. on a 30#er. Dodo`s are now coming thru in numbers and poundage. Sails are still here and there. Snapper fishing is heating up, just ask Chuck. Blackfin and `Hoos are moving. My favorite month of the year. Michael Barry, host of Reel Adventures was at the club recently talking about deep dropping for Swordies locally. I thought you had to go to Pompano for them. Not so. Anybody got a deep drop set up? His Dolphin electric set up was 4 g`s. :o |
Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
It's all lining up Sandy.........time of year, great location, great SeaCraft Brethren.

My thoughts on the tourney are wide open. I will be putting lipstick on my pig for the ball. I love that about our gatherings. Makes me go all out. Cheers, GFS |
Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
Well the Phantom Vampire has been killed - finally. My issue turned out to be a bad high speed fuel pump, when checked at idle it would show 40lbs of fuel pressure and it would run fine until 3500 - actually checked it twice and a guy had it 3 weeks and couldn't find it. Had to take to a shop with water access, as soon as it got some RPM the pressure went goofy. Intermitent stuff is a gaint pain in the ass to find, I can't believe how long I chased it.
Of course now that it will run WOT - I can't afford to feed it @ 3.70 a gal |
Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
I just figured out my cost for gas in May for my 2 efficient cars and my 18 SeaCraft was around $800. I thought getting an 18 would be affordable

Getting excited about the trip. My wife just gave me a food dehydrator for my birthday. Right now I've got 2lbs of top round drying. If it comes out good(which I think it should) I'll bring some for the group. I also was at a charity event and won a bid on some offshore rigged lures. Hopefully those dolphin and tuna pounce. I want to come home with some big filet's like we did in the Keys.

Dixon- Lets get that thing running! Less than 3 weeks away till out gathering.

Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
Pull the plugs. What do they tell you? Comp? You can pull one plug at a time and look for gas squirting.
Almost sounds like a vacuum leak. Is your idle high? Why did that cyl. lean out? Cheers and excited, GFS Still rude and smokin` |
Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
Nothing leaned out - plugs look fine, a tiny wet but fine - took it out today and it doesn't want to go from 1500 - as I prodded it I finally got it to jump that area and it was OK - later it seemed to come up better too. Will have it over there in the AM - they are good BTW, not just a bunch of pikers
I'll be there, don't worry - it runs great at 3400 and above, better than the reverse I guess. |
Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
I was asking about the piston that let go before the rebuild.

UPDATE - ran pretty decent today with them, the low speed side of the stator is losing voltage at 1500 to 3000 where the high side kicks in - not sure why this suddenly appeared after changing a fuel pump when it ran great at the low end forever. The stator is only a year old and we will try and get it replaced if I can verify the purchase date - that will be tomorrows mission - We'll be there if I have to paddle a raft from Sailfish Wish I had an Etec- just say'in There is a 150 with like 50 hrs down here for 8500 |
Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
The KDW is this Saturday. Had a great club meeting at 13th st. with some local Penn pro staff folks. Capt.Greg Bogdan on Permitted locally. I want that Conch 27...... Capt. George Mitchell with an insane YF 36 w/ trip Yam 300`s. Interesting VDH w/ a stepped design and something fore that caught my eye, and of which I still have curiosity.
Cheers, GFS |
Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
Sandy your entire body ain't worth that to a bunch Indian Dr's looking for organs on the black market - just say'in
My issue is not the stator I guess as it acted different in the AM - still nothing for sure |

Brought mine home today, they found a wire from - the oil alarm module grounding out, put some plugs in it and it apparently ran fine - fingers crossed Maybe now I can bring myself to get the outriggers and stuff out of the garage - couldn't before, just couldn't need to get the parking permit too |
Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
ESD-I found a great diagram on the THT for the system. My repair guy didn't show today, but should be here 1st thing Monday. The elec pump works(when I run power directly from the batt) on the remote tank and the lines are clear. The override manual toggle is dead too. I have seen this system before with my old 130 and I have records that show it was fixed 5 years ago.

Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
Brian,
You can park overnight at Phil Foster if staying at a reserved campsite only. You must call Kathy at least 1 day in advance and provide make, model, color, and tag # of rig, and boat brand, model, fl#, and trailer tag #. DNA sample and 8x10 color glossy. I have an annual, but think it is 10 clams per night. You can also park next to the shop where I work @ Blue Heron and 95 for free. Dirt lot gated and locked at night. Bait is everywhere. Bottom fishing is better off Singer north to the old Juno Ball. Looked like the invasion of Normandy up there. Bug boats from as far as Sebastian. Two boats got 1,000 # of kings one night. I`ll be live baitin` by the Dodge Wall and draggin` Bally. Maybe a ringer for Swordies. :o Just after the full moon so if anyone gets up early.......high speed trolling for Wahoo is a good plan . All over by 8-830 though. Troll with the wind in 90-110 straight out. http://www.wadespage.com/D800DS01RF02.shtml No matter where you go, always ask divers. Fisherman lie. Cheers, BagMan |

Re: CSC Florida Gathering 2011 - Need Ideas
Yes Sir and I have room for three or four folks who want to ride along. Plan on trolling for Dolphin 'cause as they say, "they eat good". Paid the truck/boat trailer parking fees on line today and I'm looking forward to the fun!!
