Thanks Josh, I had those too, but I'll get something a little newer. Thanks though.

Got a new power plant yesterday. 2001 115 yami with 400 hours to replace my 23 year old merc. Got it for a good price from a guy in Maine. I just got it mounted yesterday and hope to have it operational by mon or tue. Lower unit needs some cleaning but new t stats and water pump have been installed. A lot better technology from my 1990 merc. Where do you guys mount the external oil tank? I thought it would fit in the old batter comp. in the starboard seat, but it is a little to big.

There is plenty of room in the bilge under the splash well for the oil tank if you're willing to put a water tight access hatch there. I also have a Racor filter and the trim tab pump under there. I cut out the splash well and installed a hinged lid over it when I installed the bracket, but you can see the edges of the old splash well in the attached pic. My boat has the live well under the port seat.

CHANCE1234 09-14-2013 05:35 PM

Thanks BW. I thought about that. I really want it to fit where the old battery was, so I may make some modifications to it so it fits just right.

wattaway2 09-14-2013 07:05 PM

Chance is the option of having one made out of aluminum a viable option? A small tank like that mightn't be to costly.

CHANCE1234 04-20-2014 05:52 PM

So I've been sanding and sanding and went from this:

To this, which is only 2 coats of interlux epoxy primekote. I still have one more primer coat and than two color coats of perfectin in Snow White.

Then I've got to do the same thing on the inside. Gotta get on the water soon...

CHANCE1234 04-25-2014 02:35 PM

All done with the bottom finally. Now to move my efforts to the inside...

looks good capt. looks like new. where are you storing it now?

CHANCE1234 04-26-2014 06:37 PM

On Otis, we live on base now.

CHANCE1234 04-29-2014 04:30 PM

Too cold to paint up here. Yeah, almost may and it's still to cold. I did use my time after work today to install 9X12 bennett trim tabs though. Interested to see how they do on the 20. I had them on the 23 inboard but don't remember using them too much. That ol girl was a tank.

CHANCE1234 05-03-2014 12:20 PM

Got all the painting done. Now just need to do where the back boat stands were. The hatch on the front seat is a tackle locker built by custom marine plastics in RI

In the water today. She looks a lot better than last year. On the ramp, a guy stops and asks who the manufacturer was. After I said SEACRAFT he said, "gorgeous boat" and drives off. Love it!

Sweet pics love the front shot

CHANCE1234 05-09-2014 11:42 PM

Top end with crappy quicksilver beat up aluminum prop was 32.6 knots at 5700. I still need to raise it up a hole which should get me another hundred or so RPMs and than dial in the prop. I have a used semi clever yamaha aluminum 17 pitch I want to try too.

Miles Offshore 05-10-2014 07:51 AM

Love the top cap and deck color, what type paint and color is it Elijah? Going to do mine and was thinking going with the Signature that El Capitan Chuck used?

DonV 05-10-2014 08:32 AM

Capt. Chuck has led us in the proper direction. I used Signature paint on my transom, it's been five years and it still looks great. My original off white hull color was matched with Signature 162A color.

Miles Offshore 05-10-2014 02:28 PM

Thanks for that Don, im not certain yet but the off white was my initial choice. The color Elijah chose looks awesome though so now i must choose i guess, lol.

CHANCE1234 05-10-2014 02:59 PM

It was just interdeck I believe. I have the can somewhere and will let you know what the actual color is. It held up good on the cap but not as we'll on the deck.

CHANCE1234 05-10-2014 03:20 PM

Sand beige Craig

That was the best prop for us as well. Beautiful boat.

CHANCE1234 05-10-2014 08:57 PM

Thanks Tiny. Good to know.

erebus 05-11-2014 02:12 PM

Hey Elijah did you paint the black bit on the bottom of the windshield or did it come that way?
I got a new windshield fabbed this winter, but it doesnt have the black on the bottom. I kinda like that, but not sure what to paint the lexan with.

Thanks

CHANCE1234 05-11-2014 04:51 PM

It came like that. I got it off a junk boat and it just happened to fit perfectly with no mods. What are the odds of that...

htillman 05-11-2014 07:12 PM

I have a windshield and aluminum grabrail from a newer 20' Seacraft. What width console do you have? This one has a black trim at the bottom.

RUSTYNTABATHA 05-12-2014 03:46 PM

is the Signature 162 a match for the white on most of the hulls ??? i would like to repaint the inside and top cap and would like it to match the console without having to paint it rite now ...

yes, Signature 162A is the best match to the "Hatteras Off White" gel coat used in the 70's.

erebus 05-13-2014 09:45 PM

Awlgrip "Eggshell", which I had Tom (@ Signature Paint) mix up for my 1975 18SF is also almost a perfect match.

Miles Offshore 05-27-2014 07:50 PM

Talked to Tom last week an apparently there was a fire and the 162 formula is no more.

Capt Chuck 05-27-2014 09:27 PM

Just send Tom a sample of your Gel coat and i'm confident he can match it. I still have some #162A (mixed before the fire) he can duplicate it. I gave him a sample of my glass a few months ago. I'll call him and see if he has smoke inhalation or not

RUSTYNTABATHA 05-29-2014 01:50 AM

Thanks !! I saved the glass i cut out to mount speakers .... i knew it would come in handy !!

Tested the minimum planing speed with 9X12 Bennett's fully down and a Yamaha 13 1/4 X 17 semi clever aluminum prop on my 2001 115 2 stroke. It's tough to see but GPS says 11 knots and even could have got it lower than that after looking at the video again.

dave s 06-19-2014 01:39 PM

Cool! When it's too rough for me to run faster I'll high speed troll at 12-14 knots on the way offshore, on a 18' SeaHunt, no tabs.
It helps when your hull can plane at these slow speeds.
Can't do this with my 25' Contender; have to use a lot of tab and run 20+ knots to stay on plane.

CHANCE1234 01-18-2015 01:20 PM

After exhausting prep work to the hull, I was able to apply the first coat of interlux perfection in fighting lady yellow. I'll end up applying at least two more coats.

Been a while since I updated this. She now has side/down scan, fusion with two JL speakers, 2015 Suzuki 140 and now new gray kiwi grip with 5 new pull up cleats to be installed today
