You should come for lobster season, its Oct to March. Its great. 50 degF water, murky from the winter swells with things that go bump in the dark.

Recently great white shark attacks have resulted in deaths on the beaches. Meanwhile people argue over access rights - humans vs seals - at the the Childrens Pool in La Jolla. Those arguing for the seals are never in the water and fail to understand that the Great Whites love seals. This problem will get worse.

But hey, that sweet, succulent, savory flavor of tasty as spiny lobster after you thaw out makes it all worthwile:D.

Down south the seaside farms grow tomatoes. Private gardeners grow interesting weeds for medicinal use.

Oh Yeah, there is no fishing allowed in CA, warm or cold water...

Oh s---- that is just too funny!!!
Sooooo, I can now officially say that I have sailed in the Pacific Ocean. Why you ask would I do tht?? Well that's what good friends do. My Dr friend wanted to take his saily bote out, for his annual pilgrimage and that's what we did. (After spending a couple of hours getting the acid rain off from the battery charger soot). Getting dowsed with freezing water while smelling and listening to sea lions fart on the sea buoy, what better way to enjoy the art of Yachting?
I must admit, pretty good food out here and the womens are pretty soft on the eyes.

RUSTYNTABATHA 05-27-2013 06:20 PM

I got sideways out here Offshore buy asking a " turtle watch employee " how many turtles they have rescued... and if a turtle didnt make it did they make "sauce picaunte"
with it ???? They both gave me a "GO TO HILL" look and stopped speaking with me... Ill have to get into that Hole story in another thread.. i have some good ones from out here... lol

Made down the coast of Cali the other day.
Hanging out in Monteray/Carmel, watching old Spaghetti Westerns in the town that ol' Clint resides is as close as I will get I guess, pretty damn good though.
-Does it ever stop blowing out here?
-Ya think stone crabs are expensive, try Abalone, oh my----!
-Well, this is the w/e of the wedding in Big Sur, Mumford and Sons is playing, normal stuff, ho hum. Ha Ha! Right--------.

Loons are better divers than I. Did I just say that? They really are. Have you seen their feet?

Nope feel fine, sinus's are a little stuffy but all is good.
Spending 3 days with family before a four day wedding event is like bait though, after a couple of days it's getting a little old.
See you Sunday, say around 1800?
J-----, we went to the beach today, Phieffer Park, part of Big Sur, Holy s---, it sandblasted my legs up to my knee caps. Got sand in places I didn't know I had.
Aneyway, time to get home, got a boat to seatrial. :-)

strick 05-31-2013 09:15 AM

Sounds good. I'll be doing a couple little boat projects this weekend so I'll be around. Supposed to get hot I heard which would be nice because that means the wind will die down some. Text me when you are on your way back. What cigars you like? sorry no Cubans around here :)

Caymanboy 05-31-2013 11:02 AM

No Cuban's? That's right, we are in California, you do have Mexicans though. ;-)
Maduro.
I should be fine, no cegars at the wedding, they don't want us burning down Big Sur, no cameras or cell phones either. :-(. Darn--------.

Please do not take offense, none was meant.
If you look further back in the thread you will see that Strick and I have a dialog going.
And since you don't know me, I do have a strange sense of humor.
It was not meant to disparage your family.

Someone is a little sensitive. :) Lets not take this road on this thread. It is a thread about a boat...mostly well and a few other things. If you would like to comment to either Oly or myself about your issue please do it through PM's ;)

The wedding:
What can I say, it was something. Pictures cannot describe it.
It was magical, it was a production, it was an experience.
Funny thing was, two rules, no cameras, cell phones or smoking.
One thing about this crowd, they do not listen to rules, soooooo, after I figured out EVERYONE else had a camera, I trucked back out thru the forest and got mine.
Still could not do this whole thing justice.
I mean, how many weddings put grass IN the Porta Potties?? Really???
You will just have to believe me on this one. ;-)

DonV 06-02-2013 10:36 AM

"I mean, how many weddings put grass IN the Porta Potties?? Really???"

Which kind of grass?? :) After all it's Cali!

I wil admit I do have thin skin for that, especially on the net. Its hard to get a read on what is really meant when you are just reading vs face to face. No big deal but it is comment on a public thread that talks a lot about other thing besides boats so I felt it was ok to go a little off course.

infanterene 06-02-2013 12:52 PM

Nice wedding. wow. A few years ago my wife and I went to that area to pick up a classic BMW. We spent a week driving up and down PCH in it. The second best vacation Ive ever had. If you have to go somewhere and can take the long way via PCH, do it.

Caymanboy 06-03-2013 06:51 AM

Well, the Cali trip is done, sitting here writing this as we pass over New Orleans, isn't technology a wonderful thing--->
For the final of the Cali trip we had this brunch overlooking the Pacific, Post Ranch Inn, you ever get a chance and someone's else is springing, go for it, you will not regret it.
Left there and drove back up to San Fran, stopped in on Strick and his wonderful wife Lisa, saw his boats and his "worK" area, would love to have either.
Strick, thank you and Lisa for your hospitality, I owe you one!!
Now it is back to reality, and as the project of the "Red SeaCraft 20" is getting close to completion, sea trial and more pics> :-)

Mikem8560 06-03-2013 07:57 AM

Looks like sombody just spent a ton of money.

That wedding. ;-)
Now, I'm not into Sean Lennon too much, but his girlfriend? Oh yea----!

drtyTshrt 06-03-2013 11:16 AM

You sir are an inspiration. I shall attempt to live vicariously through your endeavors.

DonV 06-03-2013 01:23 PM

You 'da man!!!! I'm bowing in awe as we speak........

gofastsandman 06-03-2013 01:40 PM

I worked a wedding at Versailles. The cake was not that
nice. The food and wine pairings covered 8 hours and
then the real party began after midnight. Was Michelle
Denis the pastry chef?

Copy of the menu?

Caymanboy 06-03-2013 02:15 PM

Ya know, I meant to get a copy of that, plump forgot.
I can tell you one thing, there where many beast slain for that feast.

Too much to say that can not be said here.
To each his own but I'm with all of you.

Mikem8560 06-03-2013 06:27 PM

I got to ask who do you know to get into that party?

Caymanboy 06-03-2013 06:55 PM

I know them both, but more so the groom. :-)

gofastsandman 06-03-2013 07:00 PM

I think he and the groom may have met at some point in their lives.

drtyTshrt 06-03-2013 07:09 PM

Caymanboy is a wildman. An animal. I'll bet he has had so many women. I want to party with you.
Lifted from the movie Stripes and I'll go out on a limb here and say you have played golf with Bill Murray.

Caymanboy 06-03-2013 10:30 PM

Sorry to disappoint, my party days are over, and no, no golf with Bill Murray, I did play on the same course that Caddyshack was filmed at. Does that count?
I don't know who this girl is, but she was somebody, the cameras where following her like crazy.
And the band was Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's, that girls voice is awesome.

When you see her in person, the last thing you are thinking about is dem bones, other than jumping them, trust me-----. ;-)
And she is a TALL drink of water, there were not many women out there that I was looking down at.
One thing I kinda figured out, the weirder you dressed, the richer you were.
And there were ALOT of strangely dressed people for Elegant dress.

Well what can I say. It was a real pleasure to meet you and BS about boats and stuff even if is was only for a few hours. When you first told me about the wedding and your computer geek nephew I thought it was maybe some spoiled kid whose parents were forking out some $$ for a real nice ceremony. I had no idea the kid was a BILLIONAIRE :) And I dont think that he would have minded if he knew that uncle Oly was sneaking in a few photos!

Just read on Fox News that Sean Parker got dinged $2.5 million in fines for holding the wedding there. Evidently a protected coastal zone that didn't have the necessary permits in place.

Islandtrader 06-04-2013 09:14 AM

Since we were travelling and I am late to the party...all I can say is WOW!
