Anyone wanting the 2019 edition of the Cruising Guide to the Abacos before the trip: you need to order it today on Amazon to get it by Tuesday. It is $29.95 and to get it by Tuesday it will cost you another $15.

Jim-

There is a procedure for approval for drones in the Bahamas. Have you seen the authorization procedure? Probably fine, but people take it seriously. Just a heads up in case the Bahamas Defense folks confiscate it.

No, I was not aware of any restrictions. I will look into the "authorization procedure"? If it is going to be a hassle, I'm just going to leave it at home...

Jim

Briguy 07-07-2019 09:47 AM

Almost forgot, always bring a good book!

Jeeez....what does the Bahamas have, three john boats for their Navy?? :)

Snookerd 07-07-2019 12:10 PM

They rarely will inspect a boat at check-in. The chances of getting boarded are slim. I think most boaters probably don’t get authorization and don’t have an issue. The problem is when you are flying from what I hear.

dirtwheelsfl 07-07-2019 12:21 PM

Cant remember the last time i havent seen a drone over there... someones always got one at the dock or double breasted.

Weve had em over our boat at dusk bottom fishing the edge of the bank multiple times, US gubmint id assume... the Electric eye!

Looks like the weather window for the trip back is a good one. Little breezy in the morning but smooth sailing by mid day.

Snookerd 07-13-2019 06:42 PM

Thanks Ken – that’s what we’re banking on! Should be a great trip back tomorrow. We had a great day trolling and some extra snorkeling. Getting ready to put the banner up and take some photos ...
