Hey Brandon-

Thanks I appreciate your valuable input. From looking at most of the pictures of the 25 seafari in the water it seems to sit perfectly at rest (hard to tell in the pictures if people are in the cabin). I'm gonna go ahead and slide the fuel tank forward about 2 feet from were they would normally sit. Therefore it will extend about 2 feet under the cabin deck. The extra 2 feet of deck space I will gain by sliding the tank forward will allow me to place an in deck fish box which this style boat needs badly. I'm thinking the tower will counteract the weight of the fuel tank while at rest. It's going to be a crap shoot either way and if I don't like the way things are when it's finished I can always slide the fuel tank backward to were it was previously. :)

Since that's probably a pretty big tank, why not consider 2 smaller tanks like Skip's doing on his 21? That would provide some ability to adjust CG, plus you could leave 1 empty for short trips. Since it's not good to leave a gas tank partially filled with e-10 gas for extended periods, it would also be easier to keep a smaller tank full too! Denny

Exactly what I am doing (done) a 55 gallon in the CG area and a 25 gallon up front between the seats.

Funny you guys mentioned that! After Brandons post I got to looking at things more. One of my buddies has a 60 gallon V tank that would fit under the cabin deck. I could run off that tank first for long runs out and then switch to the main tank when needed. Also I could use the forward tank as a ballast like you said maybe keep it 1/2 full all the time.

I was originally leaning toward 1 big tank for simplicity (less hoses,valves gauges etc) but now I'm starting to like the idea of two separate tanks. Remember John Denver :o

but I guess thats not an issue with boats :D

I'd have to do some checking of my thinking and maybe I can do that here.

Assume a fuel tank that is partially full. The vent tube allows atmospheric air to circulate into and out of the tank with changes in temperature, windage (running, fuel consumption, etc.) Now consider that CO2 is heavier than normal air, so does it follow; if one were to shoot some CO2 into a fuel tank and it being heavier than air, it would tend to stay in the tank cutting off the source of humidity (H20) coming in with normal air? Would the ethanol be deprived of the moisture source for absorbing it into the fuel?

A possible source of CO2 would be a CO2 fire extinguisher or an old scuba tank filled with CO2 of some other similar source. When you put the boat away for any period of time- shoot some CO2 into the tank and put some non-porous or masking tape over the vent tube opening.

Any thoughts? Just wondering.

Here's another option to consider if you're going to have fresh water wash-down. I've picked up a 32 gallon polyethylene fresh water tank that fits under the cabin sole. That will provide about 260 lbs of ballast forward when full. Here are shots of the tank, the space under the cabin sole, and the tank slid in place:

Thanks for the photos and info. I was talking with Capt Chuck about that very thing earlier. I will probably go with a small bladder type water storage somewhere low in the boat. I need to figure all this out. The boat really needs an in deck fish locker....for all you 25 seafari owners were do you put your fish?

That's a good idea Sam although I don't mind a little slime on my sausage.

Strick, Gramps used to have a big steel cooler in the Salmon charter days. I usually catch and release unless I'm hungry.
