Don's a member of this forum (as hermco), so why don't you just send Don a PM with a description of work that needs to be done?!

Old'sCool 05-20-2015 01:49 PM

Or call him. He spent a great deal of time on the phone with me before and was very generous with information. He builds a mighty fine bracket too!

Well its been ages..the weather is cooling and I am itching.. Started back. With cutting down the console and refit it . then cut out the ice box.. Waiting on some glass to build the floor in the stearn up share the engine cover was..FYI if you want to get your boat worked on , do not go to escape boat works in Panama city.Fl... As you can see I am working on my boat again. Cause.he failed to fulfill his part of the deal... I actually pulled the plug two months early cause I notice other boats getting done before mine.. But with all my products. About 700.00 worth.. Most of my foam core and a roll of 1808 ,paint ,faring and resin were. Gone... I guess I should have taken pictures of all materials and put my name on everything I gave him to do my boat... Lesson learned...

Modified console abit . cut the top down 4.5" for the teak pod . and re glued the top back on. Then will work out the pop up display...cut out the hatch for the ice box. Need to sand and gelcoat the inside of box....and inside console. And install a couple drains for console

Console

The 2nd and 3rd photos you see where I ground out the core some and made sure to grind each side of glass.. Also used alignment marks to help with install.. Also cut the bottom of console out. But made sure to bevel my cut so it will make glassing in much easier and to be able to glass the top on from inside...

Here are some more photos. To trim out the drip channel I used my 4.5" diamond wheel to score glass
Then used my router with guide collar to grove out the foam. Next I cut glass 1708 and layed two layers in the channel and up to the floor... Next I layed a tube I pre cut and fit in there to try to keep the shape of channel..I did wax the tube.. Then installed the hatch cut out back binnhole , and weighted down with batteries..

I cut this piece out and glued to the underside so I can cut in a drip channel later... With all foam cores I use my die grind er and take out about 3/8" of the core and back fill with thickened resin...on all edging whether exposed or not...unless wrapping with glass

Bull nosed the edge of the hatch cut out and now layed alayer of 1708 and a layer of mat. Ground out the core of the hatch cut put and backfilled with thickened resin, made from cabosil and ground fiberglass.

Yea it is a bear.. I took me about 2 hours sanding and fitting the hatch.. It not as pretty as ya'lls but I'm going with teak sole.... Thanks...

martin 10-03-2015 07:25 PM

I have just been grinding on the deck some. Started shaping the console some. And also fitted the front hatch...

martin 10-03-2015 07:38 PM

Shaping the console. Therer are three lines drwn on top. Port ,starboard and center.. This is the part that will be cutoff so that the console will receive an electronic box.. I do not like my GPS or bottome machines in the ttop box.... It makes for along day and a sore neck...especially if the gps and bottom are separated . along with compass... It just chaps my ass......so compass will be in center and will,be flanked my GPS and sounder...vhfs will be in ttop box...

martin 10-04-2015 02:28 AM

I drew a rough sketch of what I wntd the console to look like.. Then took some scrap foam from the floor hatch cutout to shape.. It had glass on one side so it made it easy to shape. I gutted some foam out of the console ,pealed 2" off the foam cutout and inserted the foam. Used a string to draw my arch. Reshaped it, And then made alignment marks on the foam.. Pulled it back out and back buttered it with cabosil and glass resin then reinserted..I'll let it set up then cut out the whole top and build electronic box..with gutters and such..

Layed up one side of the forward anchor bulkhead hatch.used the outside patio table as my layup table.. Layed some visqune down. Cut the 1708 and wet out, then wet one side of the foam. Set it and forget it. Well not until I layed another layer on top of foam and added weight to pull the excess resin to the top.....

martin 04-06-2016 08:56 PM

As I will do the final fair, prime and paint...

martin 06-19-2016 08:18 PM

Started faring the rubrail out. Got the port side pretty close. Now to do the starboard side. I measured Frome the chine forward and at the top of the rail. Then I measure From the chine up to the bottom of rail..write that measurement and record..so i can transfer the same numbers to the starboard side... as long as the are within 1/8" I'll be happy...
