I would have loved to have been an overgrown long haired leaping gnome at that party.
I could have probably laid in the tall green grass with one or two of them fair maidens. You know how the ladies get at a wedding.

Lordwrench 06-04-2013 05:20 PM

On with the boats, or split this thread.I just had to go through 2+ pages of material I specifically come here to CSC to avoid in hope of seeing an update of a beautiful boat... nothing.

The internet is awash in this material already, can we get back to boats please? There are literally billions of people on this earth,I could care less about these few I do not have the pleasure of knowing. I adore a championship party,I can compete in this realm for eons, but wrong forum...this is repairs/modifications section.

Your fantastic boats and stellar craftsmanship and ideas interest me far more than who you enjoy hanging with... unless she can talk boats real well.... or turbines ;)

I knew that was coming.
I apologize for inputting anything other than what the OP contributes to his boat thread that is not boat related.
I saw the pic of it in the water on the other site. It sure looks fine.

If the balloon and dart concession at the county fair had wares that overinflated,
I would be awash in stuffed animals. Where is the Schraeder valve? Armpit?

A once in a lifetime event there. They say the best revenge is living well.
A man must come ashore eventually. Any pics of the ruins? Papa loved the Druids.

I love booze and broads and good time gatherings, and I swear on all that is holy to me,I shall never quit the vehement and furious pursuit of vice until life deals out my inevitable demise.I applaud the raucous times detailed here, believe me.

A well told, and illustrated story of life and soul evolving, woven with a classic boat given the pure loving gift of evolving, life turning a fresh page of a new chapter for both.A VERY lucky boat indeed, and to a human aware enough to take change by the hand, before change inevitably takes you by your throat, kudos, you are a rare and wise soul my digital acquaintance. And thank you sincerely for taking the time to share. Should the day come fate sees fit to cross our paths in life, the first few rounds are on me.

The rest of this is for FB or a hundred other places I can't possibly find the wonderful things I come only here to CSC to adore.I am mostly phantom on this site, my name is Bryce and some of us will be drinking and swapping lessons and wisdom, of many kinds, afloat on sunshine boats soon..

.......speaking of cocktails...I must go immediately...

I do not even Facebook but thank goodness Parker Yachts is an open page. From what I know of Oly (if I may) is through this site and He has put the vices mentioned above well behind him. Congratulations on your nephews wedding I enjoyed reading about it as much as I have the Coral Reefer and the build in this thread

Hmmm, let's see, where to start-----.
I could inject some humor into this or I could address it seriously or I could ignore it.
Soooo, let's try all three.
First off, thank you for the support, all of you, on both the boat building aspect and on the personal level.
-Lordwrench is right (to some degree :-). The writing of this thread has become a waterfall, closure and rebirth, the building of something new, while letting go of something that was great and very close to me.
-The story of Sean is an interesting one, one day there will be a book, whether you choose to read it is up to you.
-I am not a personal Facebook fan, having gone through a break-up with SYT and having it played out on FB, didn't do much for my well being.
This is where is might get dicey, some may think I am protecting Sean, some may think I am just flat out lying.
-I was at the wedding, don't believe everything the press writes, prints or post.
-Some of the pictures printed/posted are not from the wedding day.
-There where no ruins.
Without going into a long dissertation, ahhhhh nevermind----. It was a very nice wedding, some people had a nice time, some people made some money and two people who are in love got married. Oh, and it was a 5 day party. :-)
Now, this is a guys forum, for the most part, most of you won't appreciate the beauty of the wedding or the "small touches", it was something.
Here is a pic of the "Gate".

Ok, lets move on.
Yes, I have more pics of the wedding. But I will keep them private, this is after all the WWW and gosh forbid I post something that will offend someone. :-)
Ok, back to boat building.
Pics are slow, finishing up on the tedious stuff.
Here we have the console mostly set up, got some final stuff to do.
Under bracket port and starboard.
Pump/filter area, things are tight.
And the bilge, the "konkwell" drain has a tiny kink, but it is what it is.
Obviously it needs to be cleaned up, soon come. :-)
Boat should be ready to go in this week-end, this is not a THT crowd, but I can't wait to hear the tunes. And yes I will be playing Edward Sharpe.

strick 06-05-2013 10:41 AM

Oly you had mentioned about bracket height to me when you were here. What is your distance from keel of bracket to bottom of boat? Looks nice and low to me. And which Lencos are you running?

From the bottom of bracket to bottom of boat is 5", I mounted per Hermco's instructions, I would have liked to get a little more flotation, fact of the matter is it is fine, plus I needed the room for thru hulls, lights, etc.
Lenco's are 9" x 12"

drtyTshrt 06-05-2013 12:06 PM

Wow. I was just fixin to post a question about what size tabs you are running. I responded to newellchunker about the bennets he posted for sale on here a while back. His are 9"X 18" and I told someone I would probably cut them down to 9"x12". My friend said "why don't you ask the guy that is building that boat what size he puts on his."
Looks like I was right in the ball park.

Caymanboy 06-05-2013 12:22 PM

I had 9" x 9" on CR, they were fine, on the small side if you needed to really balance a load, these where as big as I could get under there, did not have more width area available.

flyingfrizzle 06-05-2013 12:48 PM

If you don't mind what is the height of your swim platform? (From the boat bottom to the top of the platform?) I am trying to set one up and I got the top of the platform set at 24" and the tub is 4 inches up from the bottom of the boat. I think the motor will need to be around 27.5" mounting height due to the 24" set back. I can adjust the motor mount height due to it being at 32" now (original) so I will be cutting it down but I haven't yet. Also the tub has been cut down but might need to be shortened up a little more. I will be making my own swim platform due to the bracket originally had a splash well built in and it had bolt on side platforms (20x20) on each side. I would like to get the swim platform closer to the water line but don't know where due to not ever having the boat in the water yet. I got a good guess at the water line due to the bottom paint. At the 24" height it look really high and like the platform will be way above the water. Any help will be appreciated.

By the way your 20 is top notch and turning out to be one really nice ride!

Caymanboy 06-05-2013 12:57 PM

From the bottom of the boat, to the top of the swim platform/bracket is 21".

flyingfrizzle 06-05-2013 01:04 PM

Thanks, That sounds more like where I need to be at. Got my core-cell foam yesterday and will be making a mold tonight so I can pop my platform out this weekend. :)

Love that color by the way too. Nice seeing a boat a different color other than the standard white, blue, or green.

drtyTshrt 06-05-2013 01:52 PM

Is this boat going up for sale when complete?

Standard answer "everything is for sale if the right price is right".

Are you planning to put this boat up for sale when complete?

Caymanboy 06-05-2013 02:17 PM

The boat is not for sale at this time, my plan is to use it until I get the next one going.
Unless of course someone comes along and offers me Sean Parker wedding type money. ;-)
Too bad Sean isn't into boating------.

Can you please explain the purpose of the extra loop is? I must have missed it somewhere along the way. Is it for towing behind a bigger boat? like the pic of the CR being pulled.

Caymanboy 06-05-2013 02:57 PM

The smaller one on the top is for trailer loading or short tows.
The larger SS welded bracket underneath is for ocean towing. (It is through bolted with backing plates on the inside.)

drtyTshrt 06-09-2013 12:37 PM

Do you have two primer bulbs? One at the filter and one for the motor?

There is only one primer bulb, I choose to mount them on the tank side of the filter.

Launched the boat over the week end, went for the initial sea trial and engine break in.
Exceeded all expectations but will take some getting used too, it is bigger than my old 20.
Stereo kicks a--- and it's not even dialed in yet.
Engine is quiet (too quiet for an old analog guy like me?), hmmm, we shall see.
Got the boat on plane, (don't tell the Yamaha Dealer, :-), just had too, she will ride differently than the old boat.
Pretty happy with everything, I have lots of "Tightening up" to do, final touches, but I feel a Bahamas trip coming on, sandflats, fresh conch and LLL/TM II pics. :-).

drtyTshrt 06-10-2013 07:10 AM

I am new to the SeaCraft and do not even own a classic but your work has given me the bug. CR and this latest build are two of the most exceptional boats I have seen. Beautiful work.

flyingfrizzle 06-10-2013 07:24 AM

All I can say is wow! Good looking water line. Love the windshield. Is it custom? I like the way it comes all the way down to the bottom of the second flat of the console. Cant wait to hear the stats on that new 200 4 cyl. Neat little light on the motor hood too.

Snookerd 06-10-2013 07:40 AM

The Abacos are calling........great job once again! Your innovation may be getting our forgotten brand too much attention for low prices in the resale market :)! One question- weight. Most of us realize that CG at rest due to Don's bracket (it's a Hermco, right?)is great, but........what is your low end planing speed? Tabs are a must and are you satisfied with the planing CG since that's when that great buoyancy of the bracket tub disappears?

ct9amr 06-10-2013 08:04 AM

That has got to be one of the fastest rebuilds I have seen.
The boat looks great and I love the color.

Caymanboy 06-10-2013 09:07 AM

Lets see If I can address the questions:
Windshield is custom, everything is custom.
Not going to be able to do Abaco's, Cat Cay is calling though.
Wasn't able to play with planing and speed's, just had her on top for a second, but she did take longer than the other boat to get up.
I had the hull done for awhile, then when I sold C/R I jumped all over it, plus the project was a little more advanced than the pictures showed, now everything is even.
Yea, I'm happy with the color, it's different. :-)

OP

Are your friends LLL/TM II responsible for the braziers hanging under the chickee @ Fernandez Bay Village

Caymanboy 06-10-2013 02:26 PM

Hmmmm, I don't think so. Is that Cat Cay or Cat Island? Haven't heard of that on CC. They have Bu's Bar, don't think the local Membership would appreciate the braziers, at least the wives wouldn't. :-)

Old'sCool 06-10-2013 07:08 PM

What are the two SS pieces ~ 1/3 way back from bow on gunwale?

Caymanboy 06-10-2013 07:14 PM

Those are pop up button fender holders.

CaptLloyd 06-10-2013 07:40 PM

Awesome job!

I bet it feels bigger, eliminating the liner and adding the bracket opens up some deck space. I love the layout.

Cool idea for fender holders, where did you get them?

Lloyd

YeA 20sF 06-11-2013 12:12 AM

Ok so when i get another 20sf you gotta do mine just like yours ok. Thanks

Mikem8560 06-11-2013 12:40 AM

what degree angle are the flush mount rod holder on the bow ? I want to install similar and do they interfere if you have the undergunnel rod racks I cant tell if you do

Caymanboy 06-11-2013 06:22 AM

-The fender holders are Accon, I got those from Lewis Marine supply.
-It does make the boat bigger, I like it, nice and clean.
-The rod holders are 30 degree, they don't interfere, but you better plan on them before hand. ;-)

Billybob 06-11-2013 07:12 AM

Beautiful job, I would say that is "just right".

Now if you happen to get in a relationship with a sweet young thing, and it goes sour, and you decide that there are too many memories wrapped up in this particular boat so you are going to sell it and start another one, would you please pm me?

Mikem8560 06-11-2013 07:41 AM

Thats the problem with bad memories
Things get tainted.
Ive got a resteraunt ill never go in again.

Yea, funny thing with that and SWT's. Hopefully I have learned my lesson on mental involvement with them.
As for boats, I will be starting on the next project soon. There will always be a SeaCraft 20 in the stable, but I need something with a little more WLL. :-)

Calibogue 06-15-2013 08:05 AM

Your lenco actuators mounted through the bracket!
I will need to do the same for them to fit and get the bracket height correct.
How much rise did you use per inch of setback?
