With a combination of F Troop and McHale's Navy watch'in it. It would be safer in Liberty City.....!

Sad indeed. Radio silent.

DonV 02-01-2014 08:45 AM

I'm looking up Gucci right now to see exactly what it is. That's why I have not went on a cruise, afraid I might get the norogucci virus they have been talking about.

Stay'in on point to Long Point

The Moderator is going to come down on us like one of them 120 CF scuba tanks what Kmoose dives with if we don't quit mess'in arond like this is the Southern Rock and Soul Chat Room. So swing'in around to the proper compass bearing, I was study'in' the Navionics I-pad Google Earth chart for the Sabastian and Long Point area and noticed a couple of what appered to be sandy swash cuts just north of the pass on the inside. I was wondering if you can slip throught there and ease north to LP or if you have to run west to the ICW then north up the channel, then east to the park. Also I was wondering about the flounder gigging around those sandy spots right up next to the grass, in the evening. The chart shows "mud", "shell" and "grass" BOTTOM in that general area. Being unfamiliar with that area, I was hoping for some local knowledge from Professor Ken or Doctor Sandy about the "BOTTOM" in this area, because the only thing I am certain of is -
"If we just add a little "BOTTOM", so that the dancers just can't hide
and do you you wanna' hear my organ? I said, ride Sally Ride, now"

(Conner, In case you got your elbows is all rodded out but you ears is still plugged up, that be Dance to the Music, by Sly and the family Stone, yea now. Just ask Gillie to confirm)

kmoose 02-02-2014 03:23 PM

Now that we are talking fishing, I was hoping to run out and troll for a half a day being June is the peak of the season. It would be nice to put the adult sized SeaCrafts out in the water they like. If they ain't hitting the hoos I think I can acquire a few spots that me , Terry & Conner could put the steel bait to enough fish to keep our "Master Chef" busy....

DonV 02-02-2014 04:05 PM

Hummm.....Chef GFS, Chef Moose and hoos?!?! Now that sounds like a good idea!!!!

Please Mr. Weatherman do your job!!!

Yea Buddy. I'm in, but Conner and I are both really old and I think we're both roll'in the odometer on Thursday, if my memory serves me correctly. I know I am anyway. This Cracker Boy is still on air so you have to keep me inside of $1.25 or I get "Smoked up" down there. Don't drag me out to that tri-mix zone and want me to do too much except run the boat, I don't care what the bottom machine says - I ain't gone down, and that's it.

Well, if the chevrons show real big and it might be AJ hangin out around 140 and we lure 'em up with some of those CD's on a mono line tied on the bow eye, I might be tempted to just go take a look anyway. Let me know if you need anything from Ocean Rhino or SpearCrafters. They are both friends, right in my neighborhood and they both "owe me", which is they way I like it.

With gag's shut down until June by those dumb asses at NOAA, I'm going Hog and Mango raid'in the weekend before off of Egmont, just for backup. I might see if Danny or Conner want meet me offshore to see what we can round up before hand just in case we get shunked or the wind is howling in Sebastian on first of May. Who knows, it might be howl'in at Egmont the week before. Seems like I'm always having the "hard way to go", I've worn out 3 of 4 perfectly good Guardian Angles. Hope I don't run out soon....!

Don't forget, if you fish OUTSIDE of state and federal waters (like off Andros, or on the Cay Sal Bank of the Bahamas), the limits do not apply. However, you cannot stop your vessel once you cross back inside the 12 mile limit, and you must check in by radio or cell-phone with Cuss-thems BEFORE you tie up to any place but a Customs dock.

I went fishing on the Cay Sal Bank 3 years ago, leaving out of Bud & Mary's, and we came back with Black grouper out of season. They were legal to take in the Bahamas, but it was off-season in Florida. We checked in with Customs & FWC on the radio, met the FWC officer back at the marina, showed them our GPS track, and they said 'have a nice day".

"Spidey" stands on three legs and votes simultaneously with the rest!
Gillie, You know we got crazy people here in Florida who can vote, but nothing like you have in Cal-e-fornia. Why you always send'in them crazy nut-case ladies to congress? We can't follow their logic and they wear a blister on the rest of us just listen'in to them.
We'll find you a nice place down in Fowlers Bluff, St. James City or Goodland where you can rehabilitate yourself. Bring your Jeep and the Mosley, you'll fit right in, Buddy.

The start of May will be the beginning of the dolphin run. The average fish caught during this time should be all gaffers plus some big bruisers 40-60 lbs. Start fishing in depths from 120-250 ft. Depends on the gulf stream and where the edge is.

If you want to sling some steel there is good natural bottom running from right on the beach south of the inlet. In 60 and 80 ft there are ledges that will hold some nice fish. Gags should still be around along with some cobia.

Awesome! Dolphin is my favorite fish to eat so if I could get into them for a couple of days I would be thrilled. Thanks for the info!

You, Capt. Skiblet are a Gentleman and a Scholar. Thank you for this most helpful information. I hope you are planning to be part of Long Point (SeaCraft Island) in May.

Skiblet 02-07-2014 08:19 PM

I do plan on attending. As the date gets closer I will give updates on the fishing in the area.

Islandtrader 02-09-2014 09:26 AM

The name escapes me right now...but there was a fellow SC who caught and shared a huge dolphin last spring...and if I remember correctly he too is a fisher person that knows how to catch them.

Skiblet oysters again?

DonV 02-09-2014 11:26 AM

Terry, I think his first name is Eric. He did a FINE job cooking that dolphin!! :)

gofastsandman 02-09-2014 11:57 AM

If we all get on the coconut telegraph and run n gun we should find them. Maybe Pooh Bah will bring his crows nest and fetch up some cobia. It`s quite simply the best time of the year for fishin`!

This looks like it is shaping up to be a great weekend! Unfortunately I am not going to be able to make it, baby #1 is due on 5/5 soooo mama's not gonna let me sneak away for this one. I will be there in spirit though!

NaturalHigh 02-13-2014 10:53 PM

Slacker says your gonna eat your words (Mahi Mahi) this year too!!!! We hope to go on Thursday and fish Friday and Saturday again So we all can eat some fresh fish :)))

NoBones 02-13-2014 11:20 PM

Oops, Cindy must be with you...

Cause I know you have a hard time with passwords...;)

See you there Eric and Cindy!

DonV 02-14-2014 08:51 AM

Don't tell me Ken, Eric has advanced his PC literacy and is stealing passwords like Edward Snowden?? This could cause serious security issues with the CSC site. Next thing you know he'll get a smart phone. Might want to let Trayder know. This is more serious than the NSA crap. :)

It's all good Bro'. Professor Davis and I are scoping out a possible south-west coast location for the November Gathering at Boca Grande. If approved by CSC, gather up "Baby #1", "Baby #2" (the child bride), ease out Long Boat Pass, come around to 176, mash down on the "loud lever" until you hit fiberglass and let the "Big Baby" eat. People will be turnin their heads like Hoot Owls when you pull down the channel at Cabbage Key with that Seavette. "What the Hull....!"

NaturalHigh 02-15-2014 09:35 AM

We got camp site 84. They say good boat access. Does anyone remember that site? Good or bad?

DonV 02-15-2014 09:57 AM

Good! It's just a couple of camp sites north of the end of the island. Nice and protected for your boat when you tie it up. Plus the most important item, you are closer to the bathrooms. :)

Sailfish Sighting

A couple of weeks ago me and Leon Padilla was choogl'in east on that channel between Useppa and Mondongo Island, cause we had been out cast nett'in mullet for the Mount Zion Baptist Church Fish fry next Saturday under them docks north of Pejuan Cove on the backside of La Costa Island. Anyways, we had the one speaker that ain't blown out yet, play'in "Come on down to my boat baby" by Every Mother's Son, on his eight track and we was drink'in a couple of beers what were pretty cold considering they was buried with the mullet in one of those wooden orange crates all afterrnoon. We was out in that "well boat" that Leon made out of that Seacraft he bought from the insurance man that got rolled around in the high and dry marina that collapsed in Hurricane Charlie over there in Pineland.
So everything was looking pretty good until I seen three guys do'in jumping jacks like they was at the middle school Cheerleader tryouts, off to the port side. I eased off the throttle and spun around to see what what their deal was and they were in "heron wad'in water" with their engine down. Had one of them big 'ol silver Hondas that looked like one of those side by side refrigerators they got at Lowes that Tammy Sue keeps "Jones'in" about gett'in.
When we got up by them I noticed they was dressed up real fancy with them real loose fitt'in, colorful, fish'in shirts wif all them pockets and "D" rings on them so I guess they can lash off their sunglasses. They looked to me like they might be a little light in their deck shoes, so I just stood off a few yards and tossed a line to them. I told them to tilt the engine up so I could drag them back to the channel and the three of 'em looked at me with their heads tilting back and forth like the neighbor ladie's jack russell. Here they were out in one of those new Sailfish, I think, and they didn't know the motor would tilt up plus they still had it stuffed in forward. one of 'em said they borrowed it from his uncle. Leon told the one guy to clear out from behind the leaning post because he could get crushed if they tilted the big 'ol Frigidare motor all they way up and he told the guy behind the wheel to mash the little toggle switch on the side of the throttle handle. We drug 'em back to the high and dry marina with out tell'in 'em that if they put the throttle back in neutral, it would start. It was easier to just pull 'em home than hav'in to go rescue them again.
I guess one of them was an interior decorator so he picked up on the reverse strakes on both boats and tried to tell Leon he had a Sailfish too. Well, he got them straighten out about that in a New York minute, but he mess'ed up a little by go'in on and tell'in them there ain't even no such thing as a Classic Sailfish Gathering. Leon kinda' blurted out about about the Long Point - Sea Craft Island deal in May and those three knuckleheads were all over that like a duck on a June bug. Anyway, I wanted to mention to you'll that these guys might show up in a big motorcoach pullin' a pea green Sailfish. As we eased off down the channel, I fix'ed it up as good as I could though, by tellin' 'em to get a site next to Danny - that he just loves Sailfish.
I keep tell'in Leon we need to get them speakers fixed and and put that cassette player in the Seacraft, that he's got in his Ford Maverick. That way we can play Sandy's Grinderswitch tape at Long Point.

Man Danny, I am loosing my touch. I thought for sure I'd get a Sand(y) Perch hit on that. Probably not enough colorful streamers in the skirt or I didn't use black swivels, wrong big lip bomber or the leader was the incorrect length. Who knows, it's always something with fishing. I guess fishing is like doctors do with medicine - they practice!
