Agree with Don. It's not that difficult to wire the boat.... working on broken engines is another thing.

Plus I have the wife looking over my shoulder...little does she know I already have the engine 😆 |
With work and the rain and heat it's been slow going.
I finally finished connecting the steering and drilled the holes for the key switch today. I ran the 2 cables from the battery switch to the engine along with the shift cables, gas line and harness. Looks like the oil tank is going under the console. It's the bigger of the one's they offer and it could only go in the bilge area and it would take up a lot of space, and it would keep the pump in a wet area and would rust it and fail somewhere down the line. Still waiting for the binnacle I ordered on ebay. When I left I realized I need to seal up the 4 bolts that hold the engine on the transom.. Still need to wire all the accessories or have someone that is reasonable do it. Meanwhile I continue to buy and collect all the goodies I need |

While deciding where to place the oil tank under the console I realized that I don't have the bracket. A quick look on Google and saw that it was $100 +. The heck with that. Had a piece of aluminum and cut a piece of PVC board and made my own bracket. Total cost maybe $10 bucks. Happy how it came out.
|
What is the black stuff on the aluminum...flex seal or something like that?

I had some 1 inch hear shrink tubes that I put on and then heated it up to shrink it. Came out not to bad
Had it in the box and used it, since I’m a cheap bastard |
We the Admiral being out of town for a few days I was able to order a lot of part and get them delivered to the house. Also I was able to bring the boat from where it's parked to my house and work on it there, and with the heat it's nice to be able to come inside ad cool off.
Hers a small list of things I did so far. Installed the VHF and Radio , have not bought the Garmin just in case a new- better options come out. Ran the harness, shift cables, battery cables and oil cable back to the engine. Installed the ignition switch and waiting for the binnacle to be delivered. At least the trim on the engine works. Not happy with the bolts that hold the engine on the transom some are longer than others so tommorow I'll get 4 new one's. Got a nice deal on a Salt Water series prop with what I hope is the correct pitch...19 inch...for $150 in pretty good shape.. put in the pump for the live well even though the well is not ready. And installed the hoses for the trim still waiting to install the pump. An boy was it hot today!! |
Plugging away good on you...it’s gonna be nice when finished

Getting real close to splash
|
So today I used 5200 to glue down the 2 bilge pumps and ran the wires for the 2 pumps, the live well and lights. Also when I ran the wires and cables from the console to the engine I forgot about the wires connection for the command link , it was a royal pain to do and in the 90+++ heat today it was a bitch.
On a good note when I was finished I decided to hit the key to start the engine and much to my delight it starts right up and surprised me. Well tomorrow's another day to get a few more things done....it's getting closer |
Glad to hear it will be finished soon!

Pumped out about 20 gallons of pre-mix gas out of the tank in preparation for the Rec90 I will be using. I ran it through one of those filters that separate out water and debris out of the gas. It looked very clean so I put some in my truck.
Received some goodies today to work on the electrical and some Yamaha connectors for the command link. Here's what I plan on doing as far of the electrical |
I highly recommend an ACR.
|
Looks like a solid beginning point Jorge. In addition to acr between bats. I’d suggest putting mega fuses on each battery positive lead. Breakers if you wish but megas will provide protection in the unlikely event something happens on that length of cable.

Can you please let me know the advantage of the ACR? |
ACR will keep two batteries charged yet separated while main engine(s) run. The battery switch that comes with the system allows combining also. It's a must have for me.
|
Got it! I wasn't thinking about the motor charging, just the Guest 2 bank charger. I have always stored my boat with the charger plugged in. Two green lights means I have two charged batteries. I use one battery all day and the other is charged and ready if I need it.
If the ACR is truly reliable, your way sounds better since it's keeping both topped off. Sounds useful if I'm in a place that I can't plug in overnight. I'll be looking into one. |
Here’s a link to what we are talking about on the acr. The switch also has 4 studs instead of 3. But both exist and will work fine if don properly.
https://www.bluesea.com/systems/42/2...ctrical_System The acr separates them discharging and combines when charging. Here’s a helpful video with graphics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPhD7fgYq3w |

So I'm trying to splash my boat this weekend but the list of the many small things I need done just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
What I have done to get her in is to get the engine wired and running, gas tank in, steering in, and the 2 bilge pumps working along with the nav lights so if the marine patrol decides to stop me.. I have the safety equipment ready. I'm thinking of taking her to the local marina and see what happens before hauling it to the Keys But I guess the details just keep coming. |
Agree taking a shake down cruise is a great idea before dragging her to the Keys and having a issue that ruins your week end.

I can't recall the rule, but I think a fuse to protect the wire within 7" of the battery is required. (AYBC?) At least from an insurance perspective. I have never blown one while cranking, and mine are 175 A. |

It was always a Master Angler , I don't have the experience to convert something like that.
Runs like a scalded dig ...and I mean fast. Need to bleed the hydraulic steering tommorow as it has a lot of Olay. And in the off season I'm getting rid of the scuppers that drain straight vdown but for now I have plugs in them. More to see tommorow |

Tried but could not get the hydraulic steering to work right but we still were able to run up to the local sand bar and had a few drinks. Lots of little things to do but overall I'm pleased

Wow, that looks really sharp! Nice work! Somehow with that color, the cap- which occasionally looks bulky- looks quite nice.
On mine with white on white, the cap seems to stand out a bit, not in a good way. |
Looks Great!!
Congrats! |
Thanks

Had the t top canvas installed. Actually it's weblon. I like the underside being the same color as the boat.
|
Top looks great

Received the insert for the rub rail so while I can't do glass work on the checkmate that will be done today. I'm also taking it to have the console doors and forward and rear doors ordered.
|
Jorge what rubrail did you go with? My cap is painted and I need to order one that will fit.
