Got the livewell plumbed earlier in the week and last night my son and I installed the bracket :D

Going to keep moving forward on my punch-out list. Really hope to have it 100% done by the 16th...

Topflitegraphics 07-08-2019 03:39 PM

Installed new latches on the transom pieces plus two new rod holders, hung the electronics/storage box, as well as reinstalled the grab rail on Saturday.

Today, the afternoon rains are putting a damper on things for me. So far I got all of the old rigging removed. Removed old gauges. Started pulling out any old/unnecessary wiring. Might run to West Marine and get a rigging flange while I wait for the sun to come back out.

Also need to add to my punch-out list -

New guide posts and lights for the trailer.
I may also install new wheel bearings and hubs if I have the time.

No pictures since it is pouring down rain right now :(

Finished removing all old rigging, made and installed new doors for the center console, installed a new livewell pump, and repainted the deck since it got all screwed up from my carelessness while redoing the transom.

Almost ready to bring to International Marine on Tuesday!

Topflitegraphics 07-14-2019 06:09 PM

Guide posts installed on trailer, new trailer lights on guide posts, Rigging tube flange installed, ping pong ball scuppers installed on outer drains and rear bolsters installed.

Couple of minor things to do after work tomorrow before hooking her up to the truck to bring down to IM first thing Tuesday morning :D

Looks like I will also need new axles and leaf springs for the trailer pretty soon. Getting kind of rusty under there...

Topflitegraphics 07-16-2019 12:17 PM

Dropped her off at IM at 8:30 this morning :D :D :D

Looks good. That’s me on tht that just gave the update on the merc 150. I had originally planned to go the same route as you with the Suzuki 140, it was a fair price and quick turn around. I was thrashing until the wee hours the morning every day on the boat to get it ready for our scallop trip, I couldn’t afford the time lost to give it to them for a week to hang the motor. I bought the merc and hung and rigged myself while several other things were going on the boat simultaneously.

The cost of the merc 150 alone was not much less than what they quoted at IM for the Suzuki 140 hung, rigged, tested, and out the door. Your setup should run great, just being in the position of the boat build you are in a couple weeks ago your almost there, good times are ahead. Give an update with how it runs if you can.

Jared,

I looked at the Merc 150 as well. Pricing helped me decide for sure. Plus, after all that I have done myself, it was nice to drop the boat off and let someone else deal with something for once LOL

I will certainly post an update once I get her back and in the water :D

Topflitegraphics 07-18-2019 06:34 PM

Chomping at the bit here...Waiting to hear if I can pick her up before the weekend. They promised her back by Tuesday but said before then was a definite possibility. I believe in possibilities LOL

Topflitegraphics 07-19-2019 03:57 PM

No dice on getting back for the weekend. :(

IM said they are behind due to the heat causing their guys to need more hydration breaks than normal plus needing to cool down every so often in the AC. I work outside a lot too so I get it. The summer heat does slow you down a little...

My son was next door to IM picking up from one of my suppliers and took this picture this afternoon :D :D :D

He said it does not have the steering wheel or gauges done yet but this is progress versus what I saw on Friday

I like your choice!;)

Topflitegraphics 07-25-2019 11:03 AM

Just heard from Brian at International Marine, he said the boat was sea trialed and she runs 40mph at 6000rpm with optimal cruise is 27mph at 4200rpm (IIRC)! I love the sound of those numbers!! Hopefully I can pick her up later today :D :D :D

jorgeinmiami 07-25-2019 01:30 PM

Congrats!!!

I heard they raised the motor one hole and got 42 and 30.
Good numbers indeed.

Like those even better. Perfect for me. I don't need to go any faster anyways. Supposed to pick her up later today.

I really want to install the GPS/Fishfinder and VHF before I take her out so hopefully I can get that done later today...

You got that right!

In over 38 years of boat ownership (I got my first boat at 14), I have NEVER had a brand new motor. I have repowered several boats through the years but usually with a "previously conditioned" engine. All of the boats I have owned have been at least 10 years old. This will be a brand new experience for me :D

DonV 07-26-2019 12:34 PM

Hurry and get it well broken in for the Bahamas gathering next year!!! :)

She is home!!!

Have to install the leaning post in the morning before taking her for the maiden voyage...

DonV 07-26-2019 09:49 PM

Shoot....just throw in a couple of lawn chairs!! :)

CaptLloyd 07-27-2019 09:57 AM

What prop did you get?

Topflitegraphics 07-28-2019 09:09 AM

Prop is Suzuki SS 14x20. Not much of a hole shot but she certainly cruises nicely. Gas mileage is amazing. We were out for about 4 hrs yesterday and did not even use 5 gallons of gas between running, cruising and trolling (plus about an hour or so drifting).

uncleboo 07-29-2019 06:45 AM

Oh what a feeling!

Topflitegraphics 07-29-2019 06:31 PM

Next step - install fish finder!

Tried to get a couple of things done before the afternoon rains. Only got the GPS/Fishfinder and stereo mounted but not wired. Wicked thunderstorm about to start...

Had to rewire the switches and label them from when IM installed new dash panel and remounted the switches. Nothing was really working when I got her back :(

Thanks Fred. It was nice meeting you yesterday :)

uncleboo 08-06-2019 12:43 PM

The only time I had to dodge the rain was during deconstruction as I was not going to "glass" the shop. All grinding was done outside and I still had some complaints from a couple of my mechanics. Looking great! Can't wait to see her get wet!

Haha.

Topflitegraphics 08-13-2019 07:25 AM

Took her out Saturday with a buddy I used to fish with 30 years ago. Was just like old times...including calling BoatUS to bring us back unfortunately. Did some trolling and drifting and when we went to fire her back up, nothing. :(
Pretty sure it is the battery cables and maybe the a/b switch. Going to replace those and take it from there. While I am at it, I might install a new fuse block as well.
