How does it compare to the 2.4 liter 2 stroke? Any regrets at this stage? How does it do with a heavy load?
|
Nice performance numbers!
What do you figure is the fuel burn difference from the 175? |
I installed a square smartcraft system monitor gauge.
Fuel burn with 2 people/full tank and gear (raft, survival suits, fishing gear, 125lbs of ice) 4600rpm is 9gph @ 30/31mph. 4600 is the happy cruise in light chop. In slop it does nice 3800/4000 = 24/25 mph roughly 6.5gph. At low speeds this engine is more efficient than the 2.4L 175. I'm super happy. This is perfect for my needs. If I had to carry bigger loads regularly or wanted more speed, then I would suggest a bigger engine. |
Great numbers but 6.5mpg doesnt seem possible. Maybe 3.2mpg?

thanks CB - that was a typo. 6.5 GPH is what is should be . . . made the correction. fuel burn and speed is nearly identical to the sailfish 220 pdf.

I am thrilled your set up works as expected. Nice package all around for simplicity, affordability, economy and performance. I would expect that your engine rigged out the door is 50% of what a 250hp Yamaha repower would cost.

Tried a powertech 15P four blade OFS and lost 3.5 - 4mph on the top end . . . could only turn 5250rpm @ 35.5mph. 15p enertia is WAY better. Terry the 17P is packaged up and will go out tomorrow.
