Looking good there Mr Kent. Are you going to put a boot stripe ? I tried putting an adhesive type on mine and it lasted about 36 hours before it started to fall off :) Best to go painted.
|
Looks great! After the paint is hard you can hit it with a medium rubbing compound and knock off the orange peel . . . it'll shine like a mirror.
|
looking good that blue will look sweet with the tan window and top!

Dave I used a paint called Insignia Brilliance...it is only sold through distributors like Fiberlay. It is an Awl Grip type paint. The reason for this was Awl Grip and Immron would not hold up under the water line for any reasonable length of time. Like no more than four or five days. I tested Insignia for 30 days and it had no break down so that is why I chose it. I was thinking ahead like if we went to the Bahamas for 2 weeks or so. Strick I will boot stripe it with tape first to see what size and pattern I like (or what Sharon likes ) Then maybe a paint job. Very surprised that the stripe did not stay on. I was in the vinyl graphics business and we very seldom had a problem...the tape you used has to be very old. Sometime the rolls sit on the shelf and don't get rotated. I would definitely return it. Shrimp...I think I will get it wet a few times before undertaking that task  (however I did wet sand and buff the gas line tower and you are right it is a mirror) That's what I am hoping for Mike...;) |

As usual, you've done your research. That's the same reason I used gelcoat below the chine on mine. There's still some Awlgrip in the water above the chine, but I've had the boat moored for as long as a week without problems so far. Dave |
Terry,
your doing a great job....paint looks great! Also, very very impressed with your craftmanship on the wooden window frames. Not long before you'll be on the water! |
Trader, I'm highly impressed wth your dedication and hard work. You've done a great job! Can't wait to see the finished product. You should be proud!

While waiting to get the boat back to my area 442 :D
I am doing a little detail work... Steering Wheel Hub Logo http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psa0ae3756.jpg Attachment 3931 For the life of me I can't figure out how to rotate this stuff...I do it in photo bucket or in picasa and yet when I bring it in here it is always screwy... Just to clarify my post....the black and white logo is what I am talking about. That is a insert into the original (gunmetal) steering nut cover. |
Nice Detail !
And the hub was made out of ??? |

Terry,
That's a great looking cap for the wheel! Sign me up for one too! I'll need to figure how to adapt it to the 2 7/8" hole in the destroyer wheel on my boat. Maybe glue it to a piece of mahogany that's the same diameter as the current teak plug? Denny |

Back Home FINALLY!
Warning! There are a lot of self biased photos coming up, so if you are offended too bad :D
Finally after months of delays and other unforeseen obstacles the 21 is home. Most of the pictures are the boat now in its raw state before the jewelry and etc. go on in finishing the boat. Loading up at the paint shop. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps5f6bd6a3.jpg Home at Last http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psa64a981b.jpg Showing off the reflection (hey Big I did not know the painter was going to color sand the blue...so all orange peel is gone). http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps07741941.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps38d4e10c.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps3b55a486.jpg Splatter inside of V-Bunk http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psd8bc50fd.jpg Just had to put the flag on :D http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psa1e5eb2d.jpg Front Deck with No Skid Stripes http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps07fddd2f.jpg Old Seacraft shirt (and older owner) http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psb2088951.jpg Morning Dew (my artsy fartsy picture) http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps359ce37c.jpg Now to decide on how to finish it up...I think I will start with the rub rail first...that way I can drag cords and such over the side. Make a punch list and see if it can be in the water by Memorial Day :D |
All I can say is wow! This makes me want one so bad!!!
|
Nice

I have decided it is prudent to work from the bow to the stern. That way no jumping around willy nilly
So the first couple things done are the lift eye and v-bunk filler. This is a S/S piece that I had a friend of mine modify so I could make it work for the 21. Attachment 4357 V-Bunk Attachment 4358 More to come as every day is an adventure. |
Is that daylight coming throug the deck or do you have some slick recessed lighting in there?

"That way no jumping around willy nilly "
Say what??? I thought that was the only way to do things!!!!! Looking good Terry!!!! |
Adding More stuff.
Some more pics of things being done...99% of everything on the boat was assembled and holes drilled before painting. However I swear that either there are in fact gremlins or when I was drilling holes I just said looks good and in fact it wasn't.
While putting in the head covers and hinges, I had to re-drill 4 of the 20 holes, because they did not line up  no great tragedy. since they are covered by the hinge. Riser for the Head http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps69bd5065.jpg Detail of custom lid holder http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psc689199a.jpg Head Installed http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psed2d376a.jpg Position for v bunk cushions http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps4bddd6a1.jpg Hidden from view http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps471176a8.jpg Getting closer now to tackling the instrument panel and gauges. Now if only can remember what that red wire was for:confused: |
Ooooh, that was well thought out. It's all in the details.
|
The red wire is for the three way switch for the cabin light
|
After all that work please dont ever let anyone use that head. Not even the Admiral.
Looks really incredible, almost there! |
