trailer for sceptre

what weight capacity trailer do you sceptre owners have? i did a search and didnt find much. right now im looking at a loadmaster 5900lb w/leds ,front and rear bunks ,torsion axles ,kodiak brakes, and guide posts price seems pretty reasonable too at $3200. what you think? oh yeah its an aluminum I Beam

Re: trailer for sceptre

I paid roughly the same for a Venture Aluminum roller trailer for my 73 Tsunami about two years ago. That had the cadmium kodiaks on both torsion axles but no guide posts and no LEDs.
Location (I'm in CT) and AL prices seemed to be a big variable in pricing when I looked in to it. The brakes are a big variable too. SS is a lot more expensive than Cad and doing both axles is a lot more expensive than one. CT requires both.

I'd have to check but my guess is yes. I never did get a chance to weigh it. I went by the specs listed on this site, then added for the motor fuel and "other".

Should be OK at 5900..
If no brakes on the trailer be sure your vehicle can
handle the load. IMO 3/4 ton would be sufficent.
I have seen a lot of people towing 25ft + boats
with CJ Jeeps. It may tow fine... but stopping is
another issue.

Re: trailer for sceptre

I just picked up a 5900# Aluminum bunk Venture with brakes from Rick at Coastline in falmouth MA. I'm going to get it weighed, then when I put the 23 Sceptre (1975 i/o) on it, I'll get that weighed. I'll keep you guys posted on what those weights are. Now, I'm shopping for a replacement for my '98 4Runner; maybe a Tundra or Sequoia. It's amazing how much missinformation there is out there about trailers and towing....

Diiligaf,

I had bad luck with the leds, I'll never use them again, I just carry some 1157s (bulbs) and a spare set of L and R lights (cheap!). Guys at West marine laughed and said yeah those leds are a joke. And, I remove the lenses and spray WD-40 or Boeshield in there when I think of it. New set of lights wires and all every spring; easy, $30.

When I bought my trailer for the 23 I got it from NexTrail. They have great pricing and the trailer is a tank. They make a great product and you can customize all you want.
