Re: Trim tabs

thanks rich that was informative do they really help in rough seas as my boat planes fairly quick but in rougherv sea conditions when she starts to come off plain aliitle i have to trim the motor way in to keep the bow down will this help? will they hurt my top end b/c the stingray type hydrofoil hurt my performance and I took them off thanks for any advice.

Re: Trim tabs

Trim tabs will help improve the ride of your boat in many different conditions, especially in the one you describe. With the tabs in the down position, the force of the water against them will push the stern up consequently lowering the bow. The tabs shouldn't hurt your top end.

Ken the sticker may say 200, but we all know that Merc`s been worked. 250 sounds closer! Do those spray rails ever try to dig when chine walking?

Sandy, with them big ole' tabs there is very little chine walking !!! The only part of the boat in the water WOT is the tabs and about 6 inches of the bottom end of the boat.

Go with as big as you can fit. Tabs are magic on small center consoles for making way in a head sea. By the looks of the pic you own a 21 Paramount Superfish. I owned one myself......pad hull with a notched transom, with a 225 they will show their AZZ to about anything of the same size and power in up to a 2 ft chop. I went with 12x12 Lenco tabs on mine, great warranty and easy to install...here is a pic of my old superfish.....really fun boat. http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...paramount3.jpg

Kmoose the boat is actually a bullet boat built here in NJ. She does have a pad and a notched transom. The boat is rated for a 150, but I have a 130 yammi on it. The boat is fuel efficient and pretty fast. She will do 40 mph at wot. By the way the pic of your boat didnt show sure would like to see it.
