1984 23 O/B Open - fuel tank capacity?
Hello all, I am new to the group, have had my Seacraft for 10 years now. I have appreciated it immensely. I knew I was buying a good hull at the time, but really had no idea of the quality, design and ride I had lucked into.
In any event, here's my question: I was told my fuel tank is 90 gallons (almost certain it is original), and that seems pretty close to my calculations. Can that right? The specs on this site say 100 gallons?? |

My'73 was listed as 100 gal. When I had a new tank made they said 100 capacity, 95 gal. usable.

Thank you all! That did clear it up. Somewhere between 90-144 gallons. I'll check it again to see what numbers I can read on the tank. (I have easy access to about 3 square inches of the tank) Or maybe I will just have to run it dry sometime. Seatow loves that.

Re: 1984 23 O/B Open - fuel tank capacity?
sasquatch, don't know if I would do that. When you run with real low fuel you stand the chance of all the junk on the bottom of the tank gets sloshed around and the junk ends up in you fuel filter. I did that on the 15th and ended up with a clogged filter and primer bulb sucked flat. Thanks goodness for a kicker.
