Spashed the 21

We splashed the 21 today thanks to WildlandsJeff and his Duramax. While the truck was up to the task, mechanically, the boat was not (sure looks nice afloat, though) . The motor fired effortlessly and I backed it off the trailer toward the dock. I put it in forward gear to dock but as I neared the dock I tried to slow it down and bump it into reverse only to find the shifter cable unresponsive. :o

Much to my dismay I was very close to an 83 year old skipper's beloved Whaler with a brand new Verado.

I killed it, jumped to the dock from about 7ft away and did every thing I could to keep my bow off the new Verado. Fortunately there was no contact. Glad the fellow wasn't right there or he might have had a heart attack. For me that save made the mechanical failure more tolerable. Jeff busted out the wrenches but after a few adjustments it appeared that maybe a cable or its attachment broke...
I have some time off this week so hopefully this gets resolved w/o taking it to a shop. Hopefully next outing we can give a ride report.

Jeff took this nice promotional pic of San Diego Bay and skyline which I snagged this from his photobucket.

Yeah Terry,
The wife called it lemon and put it on ebay this morning. I don't know how to access her account to remove it

You wanna know if I got wet feet???
I dang near kill myself and risk a full bath in 56 degree water trying to save a whaler and you wanna know if I got wet feet??? Why I ought-ta... :D

No but really, not really sure about the scupper height - I put the scuppers plugs in before dipping it, and since we immediately crowded the stern to wrench on it I never really looked. Also found some water seeping in along the shifter cable due to a torn cable bellows so I never thought about pulling the plugs. You can see where the water line came to as we were both along the transom trying to deduce where the water was coming in and how to fix the shifter.

Hopefully get you an answer next time out.

Well she got her first taste of San Diego bay. First impressions she's a Big 21' boat and if you can't find a place to store something in all her cubbies, you just don't need it. Second Impressions she started on the first bump of the starter and backed off the trailer with ease ( I thought WINNER!)And as I was trying to get my phone in camera mode all the excitement started Gillie did a good job of keeping her off a really nice boat. Lessen #1 With old boats be prepaired for anything and have someone at the dock ready for that aw $#!t moment.

Sadie telling me I ajusted the shift cable the wrong way! There was only a couple more turns the way I should have went so she's probably due a new cable.
