1977 20ft Master Angler Restoration

Time to start tearing into another project.
On tap is
-New floor raised 4"
-New enclosed transom with bracket
-Recore top cap
-Add glass and fair out sides of boat on inside
-Fix all holes, cut outs, scraps, dints, dings etc...
-Blast bottom paint off
-Fix trailer fenders
-New 50gal gas tank
-New rub rail
-Repaint outside fighting lady yellow and off white inside
My father had a couple days off from work and started taking the motor and t-top off for me today. Then I brought it home and started taking all hardware and things off. Amazing how fast you can tear down a boat compared to how long it takes to put it back together. The first pic is with a Johnson but recently bought a Yamaha 150 4stroke.

Nice ride! I am assuming that the previous owner was the cut the gunnels back and exposed the inside of the unfinished fiberglass? I ask because I would like to cut mine back as well. Unfortunately I don't have floor there so that could be a problem. Id like to see more pics of how the gunnel/line is cut out in the front if you don't mind. Thanks and good luck!

That's how the MAs were built. The cap and liner are different from the 20 SF. MA's gunwales are wider and rise higher above the hull/deck joint.

Oh gotcha. I can see that clearly now that I look at the photos again. Thanks.

A lot of similarities to my 79 MA. Didn't realize that other interior gunnels may have had carpet glued to the unfinished woven roven glass. Thought a previous owner had installed it for some type of sound deadening or something. Would look a whole lot better finished right. Best of luck with your mods.. Part II.

I was under the impression that carpet was put on all of them, but I am not sure. Got some work done today. All I have to do now is remove the gas tank and get the bottom blasted next week before I put it up on boat stands. I will get some more pics this evening. Thanks

Yeah, I've had a '75 and a '85 and they both had the carpet.

Tank is out and the rub rail is off. I still have about 25gal of gas left in the tank that I need to pump out before I take it out the boat. Hopefully cut the floor out in the morning.

Ended up getting 30 some gals of gas out. Floor is out along with all the foam outside the stringers. Trying to figure out how exactly I am going to do the transom and top cap. Thought about using the gas tank but I am going to go ahead and buy a new one.

Put some sides on my shelter and will get some tarps to put on the ends tomorrow.
