bildge capacity
 

I have a "newer" 2000 SeaCraft 20. Is there any info out there about how the boat would be affected if the plug was out? I would like to know how the boat would handle with a full bildge, such as if there was a pump failure. The bildge does not seem all that large.

Most people on here have dual if not triple bilge pumps to try to avoid just that situation completely.

The last time I saw alot of water in a bilge the boat sank out from under my feet.
Find out where its coming from and fix it.

I installed 2 1500 rules and a high water alarm to back up my 750 auto after I filled the bilge on my 18. Livewell drain hose broke.

Amazingly, she floated pretty well in calm water. In rough conditions she would have swamped.

After reading and seeing what happened to Wildman, my bilge is mostly foam, along with most other unused areas in the hull and under the cap. But I left space for the bilge pumps.

i had alot of water in my bilge and just about deuced myself. the single 1100 pump had got clogged and the livewell plug was not in. it was filling the bilge. after i made it back to the dock i went to the boat store with the boat in tow and bought a rule 2k pump. now i run 2 pumps in both my boats. i dont EVER want to experience that again.

All of the above, plus I carry a big hand pump .:cool:

Thank you for all the input. I think i may fill some of the space w foam. Would also like to test it in freshwater while still attached to the trailer.
