HermCo Bracket Installation Question
 

I just picked up a used Hermco twin bracket for my 23 center console project. I’m planning on hanging a single 250-300 4 stroke 30” shaft engine on it. Can anyone advise to what the mounting height of the bracket should be off of the keel?

30" from center of keel to flat part of platform. The rise due to setback is accomplished by the engine mount tab.

I mounted mine higher due to my raised deck and where the bolt holes would come thru on the transom. I can't remember how much but it was at least 1 or 2". This worked out very good for me as others have complained they can't get their single 30" motor high enough. Even with raising my bracket higher my motor is mounted on the second to last hole from the highest setting. If you are going with a single motor I would highly advise you go up at least 1.5" higher than the instructions say. The pic below was before I moved the motor up.

Moose- Does your bracket have a 30” setback? Looks like it could be less in the picture. I will definitely consider the extra height when I bolt it up.

Would you happen to have the installation instructions for your bracket laying around? I wouldn’t mind getting a copy if it’s not too much trouble to send me a scan or even a photo of the documentation. I sent Don Herman an email about getting a copy but I haven’t heard back from him yet.
