Miami Boat Show

I went yesterday to the boat show to see and the new boats and walk around a bit. I noticed that a lot of the smaller manufacturers were not there. I heard from 2 sources that the cost to setup was over the top. I also noticed the prices for new boats. They are stupid high. A new Maverick HPX withe a 70 Yamaha was being sold as a "great deal" for only $72500. No trailer then start adding from there. Anything in the 20ft range if well over $100k and if you want a little bigger it's 180 plus. Crasy prices if you go with a larger open fisherman your talking 300 plus.

The more I saw the more I'm keeping mine

There’s a lot of money down here and we all know boating is expensive. BUT with housing or rent being so ridiculous down here I don’t know how a younger person can think about boating.

So what is the “I don’t want to sell it price” for a new motor.

The bigger problem is getting one. Dealers here tell me Yamaha, and others I'm sure, provide boat builders first. Us re-power guys have to wait.

I went not only to look at all the new shiny things, but to also shop for the engine for my Checkmate project. The engine I want is a Mercury 115 XS or a Yamaha 115 . Went thinking it would be a 6 months wait but when I asked they both had one of each available now. Mercury was 10,500 and Yamaha was 2k more . Just the engine no rigging. I guess the larger engines are harder to get

Go with the Mercury, it fits the Checkmate's "reason to be"!

Nestor. Hope your doing well my friend. I like the Mercury XS better than the Yamaha. Representative said the XS pumps out 125 HP and I like the look for the Checkmate. I'm still a little bit aways from finishing the boat and the Admiral has no idea I have the new project so I have to tread lightly for now.

You think powerboat prices are whack - this little carbon beauty will set you back $225k. It only goes 35 mph.

I'm doing well my friend, waiting for you to bring that sweet SC20 up here! I understand about the Admiral, they sure are opinionated, LOL!

Are you coming up for the Sebastian get together in April? Hope you are!

I definitely agree that checking out the prices on those boats down in Miami makes you appreciate our SeaCrafts even more! I got a chance to meet up with Corbin down there and check out the show. Missed getting together with GFS and Casey. Ran into Briguy and his crew.
