Sceptre 20 Owners

Anyone out there with a 20 foot Sceptre? I'm looking for pictures (any and all) that I can get my hands on. Hoping to get a firm idea on the color if any to use. but still interested in ANY photos. Magazine photos are ok too. Plenty of bandwidth, so send away.

email to: jlynch@ntplx.net

Thanks.

Jon,

I'm moving along ok, I just got back from the boat where I've applied a heavy coat of gel coat by brush to use as a guide/leveling coat before the final spraying of gel. The fairing on the whole transom repair is pretty much done, but it seems like I just keep sanding and fairing the same spot over and over. I'll try to post pictures on " TheBoatZone" " soon.

Thanks, Jim

I've got a 20 Septre as well, unfortunately it's currently in pieces in my garage. I'm in the middle of the sanding process now and still have a long way to go. I've taken pics along the way and would be happy to share them with you. I've got some good ideas on replacing the deck drains with a better system if your interested. This is my second seacraft. The first was a 23 Sceptre that I restored. I used Ice blue and stark white Awl Grip. I'll post pics next week. I'm thinking Fighting Lady on this one , or oyster white and with Dark green accents.

70's,

Send it in. I'm ready to see anything put together or in pieces. What are you doing with the side storage area's?

I have yet to receive a single photo, so lets open this up to seafari's as well.

since you opened this up to seafaris, ill chime in. ive got a 20 and im nearing the end, still in the final stages of sanding, im going with awlgrip, fighting lady yellow, white top sides, green bottom, made my own rybo console for dual controls, moved batterys to cabin, oval livewell in the transom... just fairing it all out now, (while going to school 5 days a week), love to discuss modifications with other seafari owners, shoot me a line at nofx525@aol.com

Jim,
Here's one for color purposes - a bit chalky and in need of wax/compound, but a nice shade of blue overall.

Re: Sceptre 20 Owners

Only been aware of the site since friday and have E-mailed lots of pics of my 23 and 20 sceptre but need some help on posting on the forum or where ever I should post for general viewing. The 20 sceptre is still a work in progress but I take digitals every time I can. Ebeach, I viewed yours and you've got quite a project going. Fortunately My transom didn't need to be replaced. Only one wet area that I was able to cut out. In the process of deciding if I should raie transom to 25". I did'n really want to because it is in good shape now ,but after reading about how low they sit maybe I should. Any input?

70's

check out this post on CSC for posting pictures at the boatzone http://www.classicseacraft.com/cgi-b...c;f=1;t=000452

As far as the 25 inch transom, I had a 25 inch shaft motor, so that made up a big part of it. Also figured the transom would be shot due to its age. I cut a small square of fiberglass out from inside the bilge area before going full steam ahead. It was very wet. The lower portion was wet but solid, and the upper section behind the jump seats was mush.

It's a big, nasty job, but it had to be done. Thanks for the pictures of your scupper. I like the ball stopper in that thing. Wish I knew where the water line is on the boat. I'll leave well enough alone for right now. I've got my hands full, and I want it in the water.

Scott, I've seen that boat up close on the Cape. a light blue is my other choice.

Do they really want 6500 $ for that sceptre without power???? If so I guess the 500 $ I paid for my 20' sceptre last fall was a good deal

Re: Sceptre 20 Owners

Rudders,
Check out the web site for that place, they've got four 20's for sale - 2 CC's, 1 Seafari and 1 Sceptre. All of them, in my opinion, a way over-priced. From what you've mentioned about your boat, you got a great deal.

Jim,
You did an excellent job of painting the giude post on the trailer as well . I never knew F.L.Y. could look so good on a trailer .

Well that seals it for me, I'm definitely going white and red. My wifes going to hate it, but she hated my Ice blue at first too.

Re: Sceptre 20 Owners

Machetero,

I post what I can when I'm done with the gel coat. The finishing is not done. Trayder has posted this information before. search on gel coat.

Regrets? so far my only regret is that I didn't get started until the 1st of March. The season is here and I'm just trying to finish. Not sure how long this is all going to take, because I've never done anything like it before.

I still need to get your plate back to you. haven't moved the trailer yet.

For anyone new here, Machetero sold me the boat ($1,500). Oh yea, he is a real nice guy too

Many thanks.

Can you provide some tutorial in how to apply Gelcoat ?
No many of us know about this process.

Any regrets ?

Machetero
