Trailer Parts
Anyone know a good supplier of trailer parts in the Boston North Shore area? I would like to replace the whole axel/hub/tire assembly in my old trailer. Would like to buy them assembled so I can torch the old stuff off and just "bolt on" the new stuff (2 axels). Looking for a good price with a good supplier.
Also - if anyone has some words of wisdom on the subject (like you are crazy and you are better off buying new!) - they are welcome. |
Re: Trailer Parts
For all its worth I did what you are planning and I am sorry I didn't buy a new one.

Re: Trailer Parts
If the trailer is a galv. one, all I can say is, been there, done that, wish I has bought new. When I sold the boat with the trailer, it sold better but the guy that bought it went and bought new Alum. and sold the galv. trailer.

Re: Trailer Parts
WOW - looks like everyone has the same opinion here! The only problem with new.....$3,000 for a Load Rite! ouch!!
Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a new one up around here? Thanks for the input.... |
Re: Trailer Parts
I just bought a Float-On for my 23' inboard and think I got alot of trailer for the money. A 6000# rig with single brakes, all aluminum and stainless w/ exception of the wheels (galvi..)was about $3500. I do intend to use it often and looked at it as a long term solution. The local rep. is in Grey, Maine, The Cove Boat Works.

Re: Trailer Parts
ERIC M-
North East Marine in Oxford, MA is a huge distributor for Load Rite, Magic Tilt, Venture etc. etc. THey have a "serve yourself" section of their yard that has very reasonable prices on scratch & dent or semi-used trailer parts including, fenders, rollers, brackets, axles....etc. Plus, if they dont have what you are looking for in their "serve yourself" section.....you can always go into their parts department and order brand new stuff. Lastly, if your trailer is an EZ Loader......you may also want to call Barrett Marketing (their number is on EZ Loader's web site). They can fax you a drawing of your trailer - you'll need to know the model number or VIn number - with all parts numbers listed, and you can tell them what you need and they can ship it directly to you or to an EZ Loader trailer. Good luck. Ed |
Re: Trailer Parts
One other thing....
I just bought a 6,000lb Magic Tilt aluminum roller trailer (stainless package, 52 poly rollers, galvy hubs, rims & leaf springs) that should be arriving any day (yeah, right). If you do decide that you want to buy a new trailer....you are welcome to look at it. |
Re: Trailer Parts
www.loadmastertrailers.com these seem to be really good quality at an affordable price. My buddy has three of them. I am in the same boat and looks like I am going to go this route.

Re: Trailer Parts
Thanks All for the great feedback. I am checking out some new options right now.

Re: Trailer Parts
Rich - http://www.nextrailofamerica.com/ looks like a great option - the best pricing I have seen so far. I will give them a call. Do you have one? Has it worked out for you?
Thanks |
Re: Trailer Parts
Both Billybob and I have one. Ours were called Towmaster. It is the same company. These are great trailers, could hold and move a house. I picked mine up at their Ohio plant and drove half way accross the country with my SC on it. Can't beat the price. The bunks are enormous.

Re: Trailer Parts
Thanks Rich,
Do you happen to remember what you paid? I got a quote of $2,120 delivered to MA for no brakes, $2,550 delivered with brakes. Seems like the best deal I have been able to find. Thanks |
Re: Trailer Parts
I thinks it was $2350 and I picked it up.
Get the brakes. http://www.classicseacraft.com/cgi-b...c;f=1;t=000084 |
Re: Trailer Parts
Thanks again Rich.
I talked to Gary at Nextrail and we both decided that I should be OK without the brakes. I am pulling with a Suburban, he thought that would be fine without them. I also have been pulling around a galvy with no brakes - so I guess I will go without for now. Can always add them....just don't have the $$$ - I didn't expect to by buying a new trailer this summer! hopefully, tuna season will be good this year! I appreciate the feedback, |
Re: Trailer Parts
Eric, Check with your local law enforcement or state police.. Here in New Jersey and others states trailers over a certain GVW must have brakes by law..even boat traliers
|
Re: Trailer Parts
Thanks Don - I have a call into my insurance co. to see if they can advise me on the laws in MA for brake / weight. The guys at Nextrail said brakes were mandatory if the overall weight of the trailer and boat was 3500lbs. I'm probably just a tad over that depending on the trailer weight.

Re: Trailer Parts

Re: Trailer Parts
Being delivered today - only took them about 1 week to deliver...thanks again for the referal Rich - looking forward to checking it out!!!
