CSY 23's
Does anyone know anything about the 23 CC's built around 1984? Good/Bad?
|
Re: CSY 23's
Rak,
I've got a '82 23 Sceptre, also bult by CSY, and the quality is top notch. All components are first-rate. Our neighbor at the marina has a '85 Sceptre, CSY as well, and the quality is the same as ours. |
Re: CSY 23's
Thanks for the help guys. 84 SC where do you keep/use the boat?

Re: CSY 23's
Just a note from what I know. CSY took over from Potter. They made higher end Sailboats and were trying to get into the Fishing Boat Buisness. They built a quality boat but soon found out building a boat to the specs they required equaled no profit. Thats when Tracker bought them out.

Re: CSY 23's
Mark from GEORGIA or Jason will remember the full story on Seacraft ownership that came straight from Mr. Potter's mouth.
Mark/Jason care to fill everyone in??? I think Mr Potter said during lunch that day that between his ownership and CSY's...there was someone else or an affiliate of CSY that owned the brand for a year or so (1982??). Or maybe it was between CSY's and Tracker's. I can't recall. Mark/Jason, please set the record straight once and for all. |
Re: CSY 23's
Good info. Mark/Jason, anything to add? Seems as if quality was maintained. Maybe that's why they had little or no profit, but I don't have much of a sample size so far.

Re: CSY 23's
I need to go over my notes, hint Mark jump in here, But from what I recall CSY only built the 20 and 23 and yes they built them very well so well that they could not turn a profit.
CSY sailboats were used primarily in the Charter sailboat fleet in the south, from what I have been told. I do not know how long CSY built SeaCrafts but I think Mr. Potter said it was only for a couple of years. There was another firm inbetween CSY and Tracker but it get foggy. Thats the best i cab do for know. I will have a sit down with Mr. Potter later in the year and figure this out once and for all, unless Mark has his notes handy? |
Re: CSY 23's
Thanks Trayder. Anything you figure out would be appreciated. The timeline (good info) shows CSY the whole period but as you point out, there's usually more to the story than meets the eye.

Re: CSY 23's
Trayder-CSY had no 18SF's? Who would have made a pre-Tracker 1987 18SF? Hopefully Hermco can get in on this thread and talk Mr. Potter into meeting with a few of us interested owners on the East Coast of FL. That CSC Gathering would be the "Mother" of all Gatherings

Re: CSY 23's
There is a time line for the ownership posted here. http://seacraft.snetsol.com/SCTimeli...ine_frames.htm
It does not show any other owners in between. [ August 17, 2003, 01:45 AM: Message edited by: Gary ] |
