Front anchor locker?
 

Has anyone had the problem of water settling in there? Has anyone drilled some kind o drain, maybe into the big fish box in the front.Any ideas as I'm about to drill some holes. Thanks RS.

I went to Your sight & see Ya have a 23' My 20' Ma has the fish/anchor bow fore,I have a Bronze(Plastic kept breaking) thru hull there . Not sure if Yours is the same.I also wanted to close it off but had No way to let the water out as its lower than the deck.

That was My plan, but after sealing from the outside(Thru Hull) i noticed FOAM inbetween the deck/ inner liner & hull so I didn't want this to get water logged.I reopened My thru hull & went Bronze.Who knows maybe I'll need the Xtra room for Beer & /or Fish !! [img]images/icons/cool.gif[/img]

Most all that I have seen at least on the 23'er's have had a door on theirs. Mine does not nor apparently has ever had one. I have the water problem but do not want a thru hull up there. I'm trying to figure out first where the water comes from. maybe just horizontal or almost horizontal rain?? Cleats?? Not enough room in there anyway I dont think for much of an anchor and line so Im thinking of making just a cover of the same material as my t-top/etc and covering the hole???Any other thoughts???

On my 23 there was a hole that was drilled in that front rope locker that lets the water run down into the bottom of the hull I thought that was a good idea so I kept it that way. I have a hatch door to get into that area but I only use that area for short ropes. The deck hatch just in front of the center consol holds my anchor 10’ of chain 400’ or rope plus the ball retrieval system and a cast net.

OK I think I know the diff. My anchor locker w/ door does not have a shelf/floor it drops right into the ice/beer/fish/storage box.Mine would always fill up.The problem was that the spray would come thru the rub rail.&rain thru the deck lid.When spray hits the rub rail it is with Force.Any small crack can let a lot of water in.I sealed my top deck to hull then the rub rail to the hull underneath .This way I have 2 barriers to pass.The rub rail to hull is the tricky one to do.It allows the water to spray out instead of between or under.Just used a white silicone for this.cut aa thick long angle on the tube.5200/4200 runs to bad.
Any pull/pop ups on Your boat ?lights? maybe reseal all fittings. I hate water leaks & have fixed most all of Mine. I have very lil' water now.

My boat is newer than most here so I don't know if what I did would be a good idea on the older boats with wood in them. I drilled holes though the bulk head and let it drain into the hull. After my hull warranty runs out I plan to put a hatch on the rope well and finish out those holes.

BTW-I ask Bass Pro Shop about drilling the holes and they told me it was ok.

Capt Brad, yes I have a pop up lifting cleat and thats were it comes in from. I dont know if ill drill a hole because there might be a bulkhead there and iI dont want the water there either.

Miles,what year is your boat ,do you have a bulhead up there?
I might just do what ive been doing for a while pump that water out with a primer bulb and dry it with a chamois and not make the situation worse.Thanks RS.

Smoker, mine is a 78 and I do have a bulkhead. The thing gets leaves and all kinds of crap in there and turns the water brown. Then when I take off all that nasty water comes right down my nice clean deck [img]images/icons/mad.gif[/img] Rubrail sounds like it could be a culprit. Also I figured out the hard way that the big hatch up on the casting deck has a good size hole up high at the deck/hatch joint. I use this for a livewell all the time and kept wondering where the extra water in my bilge was coming from. Then I noticed I was only getting it when I had the well filled with water. Upon further investigation I found the cut-out, not sure why its there except maybe to run wiring of some sort. BTW- that hatch works great for live bait like mullet and medium sized bunker. I just hooked one of those suction cupped bubblers up and my bait stayed frisky all day. Just make sure you have one of those bait catching nets handy or you will get wet trying to catch em !!!

Reel Smoker, Can you put a drain cup under the cleats ? If so run a hose w/ a fitting under the rubrail or on the deck.I'm trying to figure out where to run mine ? Pop up light. I didn't relize how much water could come through.
Whoops just saw You have the lifting cleat ! Just seal trhe heck out of it.You could maybe fab a drip pan for this if Mine lets water in .I'll try & figure this out.Does a lot of water come through Your lift cl. ? Accon ?

Its not really alot but again if it rains hard or when I wash the boat it builds up quicker. I keep an anchor and rope in there now thats why I wanted dry because of the rope.I'll come up with something in the mean time I have this primer bulb with a flex hose that I ve been using all this time. I think ill start to put my anchor down in the big deck hatch like I use to, and maybe put my small dansforth since the rope is only 20 ft in that comp I could always come up with something that the short rope wont come in contact with the water,but still keep it dry as much as possible. We Seacraft owners try to perfectionize everything,I guess thats the love for the Craft.Thanks RS.

Hey RS !!!

You dont have the drain in the bottom of the locker ?? I do on the 76 ..... but its jammed so it doesnt drain well .... No sign of a drain in yours???

No Scott theirs no drain, Ill keep my 2 dollar primer bulb in there,Oh well.
