OK - in response to a "Boat Pics" thread, here is what I had e-mailed to me by BMAJ - 1 sweet 18:

Re: Steve's post about SeaCraft pix, Here's one of my '75 eighteen. I just
finished 20 hours on the new Suzi 140 four stroke...I'm setting it up for
snorkling/diving/fooling around, rather than serious hook and line action.
The shot is taken at "Peanut Island," just inside Lake Worth inlet, next to
Palm Beach, Florida.

Re: Show us yer BOATS!

Im trying!!! It seems to be easier restoring an old boat or reducing a fracture then getting my Photos on the web....If it does get thru it shows the boat right after Hurricane Andrew, being transfered to a new trailer in the backyard and the final product. By the way, what is the best way to remove that rust on the stern lift rings. Mark [IMG]http://photo 1.jpg

Mark, you need an image that's already on the web and then put in the full path - {IMG}http://thesitethephotoison.DOT/path/to/the/photo/nameofphoto.jpg{/IMG}

Replace the "{&}" with [ & ]

If the image is not already on the web, e-mail them to me and I can put them up for use on this site.... john@striped-bass.com

Now - I'm not an administrator of this site at all but I don't think Trayder will mind if I put up a few pics. He'll then be able to put them in the Owner's Pics section of the main site when he gets a chance (he's out fishin' a lot )

Hey Guys
Here we go.... I’ve been procrastinating too much and haven't put together "My Story" on how I found the boat...As soon as I get to it Trayder can post a few of the pictures I have.... but here's a couple for now...Now to get some water under it instead of Galvanized steel and rubber … I have a long way to go before that happens

Alright, here are a couple of pix (hopefully)just to get started. Don't pay any attention to the date. She is an '88 w/ a '00 225 Rude on the back. I am going on the 4th year of ownership. I'll post some other pix on the photo board that shows all of the teak, etc. Some of the pieces I made from teak deck planks off of the USS Iowa that I got from a top secret source.

Re: Show us yer BOATS!

Hey John, I love my 225 Evinrude. It'll launch the boat up on plane like right now, starts w/ the 1st turn of the key, and is fairly good on gas. The best top speed I ever got according to the GPS is 44 mph. That is by myself w/ at least half a tank of gas. The prop is an omc viper. I would do a little better on the top end if I would redo the bottom though. You can't tell in the photos but the bottom is in dire need if being sanded and repainted. I don't think the previous owner ever sanded the bottom. The bottom consists of different types of paint that is real thick and chipping off in several places. I've been putting off the inevitable by touching up any white spots that appear. Anyway, when I bought the boat in '99 it had the original and very tired 200 hp Yami. Yamahas and Mercs are great motors but I am an OMC guy. That's all I've ever had plus I got a good deal on the Rude. My boat wouldn't feel right w/ anything else. The only thing better would be a twin.

Dan , I thought the bottom paint was supposed to be like that!!!!!

Re: Show us yer BOATS!

Yeah Craig I reckon so. I've been intending to tackle the job 4 years now. It's just one of those mini projects that keeps getting put on the back burner. I'd rather be fishing than scraping paint and since the boat stays on a trailer and not in the water fishing wins every time!

Croakerlips, beautifull boat you got there. I myself like OMC also and Im looking to repower with a ficht 250. Do you know were I can get a good deal on them. Thanks Reel Smoker.

Re: Show us yer BOATS!

Thanks for the complimant Reel Smoker. The best place that I know of for cheapest price is Ed's Marine near Richmond, VA. He always has some kind of deal going. I got mine from Ron's Marine here in Portsmouth for about the same price as Ed's. I basically just shopped locally but I'm sure there are alot of deals out there if you shop around. Of course it is up to you but I would advise buying from someone that is local to you....that you trust! Good quality service may be worth a little extra $. FYI, When I was shopping for my 225 Rude most local dealers had a boat show sale of $16,000. Ed's was selling them for $13,600. I bought mine from Ron for $13,800. I have known Ron for a long time. He has a small shop but he really stands behind his products and service, plus he is only 10 min from home. Ed's is a 1 1/2 hour drive for me and his service was questionable from what I heard. If you would like the #'s of either of these places I will look them up and email them to you.

Thanks Dan, but thats a little to far from the keys.I've been shopping around I called a place in Miami they wanted 13.500. for a new 250 Ficth, They are trying to get rid of the last 2002,the new03 are coming,I might wait to see if theirs any changes.I know OMC had major problems but been told that Bombardier is putting them together the right way.RS.

Scott, thats how I like to find em. What year is the hull? Have you been making any progress.RS.

Re: Show us yer BOATS!

ReelSmoker

The hull is a 1976. And unfortunately have not been able to get to far with it this spring as I've had a problem with my neck ....Thankfully thats on the mend and I'm getting Physical Therapy to gain motility back)...The boat was pretty solid with the exception of the removable hatches and what seems to be a wet transom (really havent looked into that too far) all the old wiring is out of the boat and most of the cosmetic work is done.... Getting close to prepping the inside for primer and then paint. I'm tempted to throw it in the water and play ....but if I do that I know nothing is going to get done with the rest of the restore

hi john, i'm trying to redo an 1975 18 cc sf also, does your 18 have an access hatch where the sending unit is, mine did not have one, and do you know what size rubrail is on your 18, any info would be great, thanks mike

Bmoney1209 05-16-2004 07:25 PM

Re: Show us yer BOATS!

you mean an access hatch in your splashwell?

micheal s 05-16-2004 07:57 PM

Re: Show us yer BOATS!

no, what i mean is an acess cover on the gas tank cover, so if you ever have to change your sending unit or if it leaks you can get to it with out taking the whole console up,

Bmoney1209 05-16-2004 09:16 PM

Re: Show us yer BOATS!

I have one under my console that I installed. It's a round pie hole cover, not very big, around 8 inches diam. . Also have one in my splashwell.

Scott;
The lower leg is in the shop behind the boat. I always remove the lower leg at the end of the season. That way during the winter I can replace the water pump impeller and gearcase lube in the heated comfort of the shop. I am going to add a few more pics later showing some more detail of this boat.
