Has anyone installed 2 lean/seat??
Starting off the New Year with my 23' project, in the water, Potter bracket, twin 2001 135 'Rudes, loving it! The boat is still rough until I figure out all that I want to do.
The boat will be used for family fishing and diving so flexible seating a must. I was thinking that a second leaning post seat with no rod launchers up against the transom might do the trick. My fuel bulbs and filters would be accessed behind it, air tanks could be strapped underneath, or a cooler for family cruises. The helm seat will have a live well under it. Anyone done this? Bill PS. I can put my 300 lbs on the bracket and it stays dry!!! |

Re: Has anyone installed 2 lean/seat??
Bill,
You might try to find a fold-down bench seat that some of the other boat mfg's put in their transom areas. This way it could be dropped out of the way for fishing and folded up for seating when needed. Pursuit is one boat that comes to mind. |
Re: Has anyone installed 2 lean/seat??
I saw a new 30' Whaler at a recent boat show that has a nice swing-down rear seat. They use the bolster as a back rest when it's up. I'd love to have a couple of those on each side.

Whatever you do, make sure there is some type of backrest on it.It's hard to see passengers behind you when you're takin off, wouldn't want to lose one!

Re: Has anyone installed 2 lean/seat??
Thanks for all the responses!!
I like the idea of the fold down seat but what/how do they support the front when going thru the waves? I could swing the seat up high to access the priming bulbs and put one of those slide on tank holders that would work when the seat was down. Is it comfortable enough to seat on? Bill |
Re: Has anyone installed 2 lean/seat??
The ones that I've seen have legs that foldout and lock in place... They'll certainly be more comfortable than standing all day, velcro on some comfortable floatation cushions and you're all set

Re: Has anyone installed 2 lean/seat??
Sea Vee boats in Miami. Makes a real nice back seat for there boats. I am not sure what the beam is on a 23 sc but i am sure it is close to the same as 26 or 29 Sea Vee. It has one giant folding verticle leg that comes out in the front and in the back two pens connect to a recessed brackest in the transom. The seat ties in the combing bolsters as the back rest or you can even go as far as having a back rest that slides in out of the rear fishing pole holders and laches down to the transom. You can come over and look at mine if you like.

Scott - I will go to Bass Pro to check it out thanks
George - Your other boat is a Sea Vee? When do you go back to school? Did you pick up your 20 yet? I may come over to check it out. Bill |
Re: Has anyone installed 2 lean/seat??
Yea the family boat is 2002 29 Sea Vee with twin opti's. It has the console and rear seat you might be looking for and also a coffin box. It is sitting behind my house so you can come look at it and maybe get some ideas. I picked the 20 up the other day and started taking it apart.

Re: Has anyone installed 2 lean/seat??
Mike, at Wildfire Marine in Stuart, has the fold-out seat that is for the 25' SeaCraft that he would probably like to sell. It was supposed to go in someones boat that changed their mind or something like that. Give him a ring at 772.286.1925

Re: Has anyone installed 2 lean/seat??
Capt. BRad,
I went to Bass Pro and the 25' back seat didn't look much different than your pic! It was a hard cushion but looked very simple to make. Maybe a shorter version will do the trick. What did you do with your priming bulb? Ikan thanks for the lead...I'll give Mike a call and see what he has. Bill Decisions, decisions |
