Getting there...
Hey,
The new 133 gal. tank arrived today from SP Tanks. http://www.foodmachinery.com/SeaCraf...s/DSC04103.JPG The first 2 coats went on well. Still showing a little white primer. We'll sand and blow on 3 more coats tommorrow. http://www.foodmachinery.com/SeaCraf...s/DSC04104.JPG http://www.foodmachinery.com/SeaCraf...s/DSC04105.JPG Stoked, Otto |
Re: Getting there...
Otto, I'm stoked for ya. Whats the dimension's of that tank? And how many baffels?....I'd think two.

Re: Getting there...
Great Work Otto-
What color is that and what type of paint? |
Re: Getting there...
Trayder,
Thanks. It's Interlux Brightside Sapphire Blue. It's doesn't look as green in real life and I expect it to get much darker as the coats flow on. Not bad for my first try! Chris, The new tank is roughly 28" wide x 11" high x 116" long. I'm not sure about the # of baffles, but also expect (2), same as the original. More images later as we move to the interior with Blu-glo white. John R, Thank God for forklifts. We have 2 4000's at this shop. Makes it pretty easy to pick up the boat with straps and set it on the trailer. Not to mention setting that 175 lb. tank into place. Regards, Otto |
Re: Getting there...
Nice Otto and Salty..... So I'll bring up the 23 and we'll finish it in your shed !!!
How's the tank look ?? Happy with it ?? I was told that they had three baffles in that tank, rather when I asked about an 84" tank, which I thought was alot for that size...you might see the tack welds on the surface where the baffle plates are..... |
Re: Getting there...
Sorry Scott. I don't know if I can do another one after this adventure! Very gratifying though to see it finally coming together, or at least getting some color. My wife asked if I had a girlfriend and I told her, her name is Seacraft!!!

Re: Getting there...
Looks good Otto/Saltydog . If the color comes out the same as on the Suzuki web site, she'll be a real head turner.

Re: Getting there...
Here's our second coat with Interlux "Dark Blue". Came out sweet.

Re: Getting there...
Niiiiiceeee, very Niiiiiceee.
Great work gents i really like the shirt in the previous picture but the CSC fashion police may take issue with wearing Jeans in that manner |
Re: Getting there...
I pretty sure to legally wear jeans in that manner they must ride up ones butt crack.
Hey, Otto much nicer color. |
Re: Getting there...
Thanks guys. Got caught during one of my bad fashion moments!!! The slave driver, (Otto) had me wet sanding and wouldn't let me put down the hose even while working overhead! Ha, ha. Otto, thanks too, my wife loved the picture! This boat better come out REALLY GOOD!!
|
Re: Getting there...
I actually think that the photo of the csc.com shirt ought to be the photo used in the official classicseacraft.com product catalog. Very casual and unassuming

Re: Getting there...
175# pounds what did you have it made out of my 47 gal I just had made by SP weights 42# 1/8" 5052 is yours stainless steel?
|
Re: Getting there...
Now that I look a little closer at that pic..........Salty you peeing in the sink?
|
Re: Getting there...
That's exactly what my wife asked me! No I am not peeing in the sink. Otto wanted a full shot of the floods and the CSC logo. Ah, the humiliation. I think we can mercifully end this thread.

Re: Getting there...
Tom called me this morning and said "run, don't walk to get dark blue paint. This looks like pussy blue". My reply was, "well, OK, but it goes nicely with your pants in this picture".
http://www.foodmachinery.com/SeaCraf...s/DSC04097.JPG Ya, sure, you've got a girlfriend. With pictures like this floating around the internet, Tom's lucky he's still married. So he sanded the first 2 coats and we'll get the color right with 3 coats of the right color today. More images later. Otto [ March 28, 2003, 12:17 PM: Message edited by: Otto Cuyler ] |
Re: Getting there...
Otto, what's the height of your transom? Curious about the notch in the center.
|
Re: Getting there...
SECF,
The center "notch" sets up for a 25" motor, the outer parts can be used for mounting 25" twins. There's 5" difference between the 2. Otto |
Re: Getting there...
Otto,
Your transom looks like mine, only mine isn't supposed to be notched. The previous owner cut it down 5" to fit a 20" engine. When we repower (hopefully this fall) we're going to build the notch back up so the transom is back to the original 25". |
Re: Getting there...
Otto that's a good idea. Probably help keep the slop out also.A freind just redid the transom on his 23, since he was repowering he raised the transom for a 30" shaft.

Re: Getting there...
SECF,
Frankly, I'm only assuming that the transom is the factory configuration. But, since 25" is the standard motor, this makes sense. There's a pretty big splash well that drains and well as a transom gate: http://www.foodmachinery.com/SeaCraf...s/DSC02979.JPG |
Re: Getting there...
Otto, you get the inside sprayed this weekend? The weather here was too sloppy for me to do any thing.

Re: Getting there...
Got nothing done, except closed deal on my 92 Sea Ray Laguna 21 (last year's project).
http://www.foodmachinery.com/Boats/sea%20ray/S00G.JPG Delivering on Friday. Hmmm, some cash! Otto |
