Re: ebay
I talked to the guy (forget his name) about this boat awhile ago, says he wants $6900. It looks to be a pot luck boat to me......??????

Re: ebay
This particular boat the guy wanted 7K for? Did you see that other one that was on Ebay 5 months ago? http://ebay0.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_...1b865e/i-1.JPG
Anyone from here ever get it? Remember it being a decent deal other than need some work http://www.classicseacraft.com/cgi-b...c;f=4;t=000075 |
Re: ebay
My wheels are spinning and there's smoke pouring from my ears. The only problem is I'm getting the evil eye from my wife
I may have to buy it anyway and think of a good sorry later. (I meant story, must have been a Freudien slip, I'm sure I'll be sorry later). It just makes me wonder why it's still around if it's such a good deal?? [ December 31, 2002, 06:39 PM: Message edited by: Finster ] |
Re: ebay
This just in.....I have my wife coming around to my way of thinking. Although I had to play the quit smoking card. I knew that would come in handy someday

Re: ebay
Finster - are you talking about the one that was on E-Bay in Sept. OR the one you posted now? I may have the guy's info on the 7K 23 if you are interested. I don't know if he ever sold it but I have a suspiscion that he never did. I also know some of the details if you want to give me a holler sometime. I would taken a solid look at it if things were different. Whereas I'd rather a console or Savage, that boat with the bracket, 2 motors to fix & sell ( ), trailer & hardtop are hard to pass on...
BTW - I made the same deal with my wife. Cough up the butts to get my boat |
Re: ebay
John, Any info on the older ebay boat would be great. I am seriously thinking about it. The boat is still available. The current one on ebay doesn't seem all that great of a deal for $6900.

Re: ebay
Finster - check your PMs...

Re: ebay
I tried to make contact with them, but never got an email back. I've got a brother in-law in Charleston, SC. He could take a look at it if I had the contact information. The deck looks pretty rough. What kind of maneuver do you have to make to get out to the bow on the 23’ Sceptres??
|
Re: ebay
EBEACH, that is the major drawback to the Sceptres. Bow access is terrible, and in the one currently on eBay, even worse because it doesn't have a hatch. I usually walk up the gunwale (had straps installed on bimini to grab onto) or I go out and over the winshield on the starboard side. Unfortunately the winshield frame runs across the top all the way around, so opening the center section doesn't let you go that way without stepping over the frame.

Re: ebay
I just closed the deal on that boat in SC. I am a little nervous about not seeing it. If someone is local down there to check it out for me I'd be glad to through'em a few buck.

Re: ebay
Finster, congratulations! Hopefully everything turns out well.

Re: ebay
Cool - remember, tell the guy he owes me a commission
Like I said, that boat needs some work but has a LOT to offer, Recent transom, bracket, twins, decent looking top and a new trailer for short money. And much nicer than the one on Ebay now... |
Re: ebay
John, thanks I owe you one. I'll even up with you on some fishing trips
I was starting to get cold feet. The timing is a little off. But what the hell, without seeing it it looks like a quality deal and saves me the expence of doing what he's already done. My phone already ringing for charters for spring, so I can defer some of the expence The ultimate goal for the boat is offer a big game fly/light tackle service Though, I still could bale if the thing a nightmare when I get up there. |
Re: ebay
On second thought I've just found out it's gonna be 5k for each motor rebuild, and for that price the boat doesn't seem like great deal anymore and the boat it's self need considerable work. I've seen those boats in class A condition with new or newer power for under 20k. I still may consider it if the guy take 4k, but I doubt it.
|
Re: ebay
Sorry to hear that. You mean it needs BOTH motors rebuilt? What happened to a Stator in one? From what the guy told me the motor that needs to be rebuilt runs and could be heard and that the one with the stator needs just that and that the compression was good...
5K to rebuild? Ouch |
Re: ebay
You usually do both engines together. The compression in the other was on it's way down as well. And the stator apparently melted (sound scary)
If the boat was in better condition I would consider it, but if you tally up the raster it's not cost effective.....back to the drawing board. |
