Man do we have snow!
Started snowing around 7am, we had a foot by 11, just went out now (to rob beer from my neighbors house ) and it's up to my knee without hitting bottom. Oh yeh, it's blowing 30kts too. No end to this storm seen yet, hope my neighbor has enough beer.

Re: Man do we have snow!
Finster, I just cracked open another Becks Dark in solidarity. No snow here but I don't want you to drink alone!

Re: Man do we have snow!
Harpoon Winter Warmer - we'll see the snow starting tomorrow but we'll probably get only a foot or so. Dusting...

Re: Man do we have snow!
Yeh, we're getting hammered. The only thing that concerns me is the flooding. But we should be OK our house is a wopping 4" about base flood. I'll know better at 8am. We've had the water in the streets before. The Holloween storm put 13" of water in a lot houses off the island......I figure we need an 10+' tide to make it to the house and as of now there calling for maybe 8.5.
Cheers |
Re: Man do we have snow!
John, I'm too bored to do much of anything. I'm starting to find Dora the Explorer interesting. And the drifts are too big to ransack my neighbors house for beer. It's still snowing like hell even though the weather people say it's not.

We're just starting up - probably 3-4 inches or so now and supposed to go until 10 am or so tomorrow... About to make shovel pass #1 in ten minutes... |
Re: Man do we have snow!
Finster-
The Weather Channel just reported that Little Egg Harbor, Nj got 2 feet of snow. I am sure with the snow, its much worse. So far in Boston, we've got maybe 8 inches, but it is supposed to snow until 2am. Plus, the wind is blowing about 25 knots... Should have gone to the boat show today! |
Re: Man do we have snow!
It sounds like all of you have your work cut out for you - only half bad if your wives help out! i heard from friends in westport, ct that there were more snowmobiles on the roads than snowplows. Not much else to do on a day like today. Easy on those backs, fellas (better to clear out twice and half as much than wait for the blizzard-like pile-up i would think?), and if you have to head out, BE CAREFUL. (Just out of curiosity, are the liquor stores open?) BB, quite kind of you to offer your services to those nurses - hospitals don't have the prerogative to shut down no matter what the weather. Luckily for the postmen in the mid-Atlantic/Northeast, today's a holiday.

Re: Man do we have snow!
Hey,
So far, no snow in West Palm Beach yet... Got a little sun burn at the sand bar yesterday... Otto |
Re: Man do we have snow!
We got down to 77* today cold snap.Howbout some of that snow for our BEER !!

Re: Man do we have snow!
My wife's turn to shovel but I'll do the 3' high mound from the plow passing by... The wind was coming right up the street from the bay cleaningother yards and dumping it into mine
For all you shivering in Florida, when it's 99 & 99 with no wind after the rains come thru and we're 82, dry & with a seabreze and bluebird skys, I'll be thinking how glad I am to be up here (until then - I'm insanely jealous...) |
Re: Man do we have snow!
I just did the driveway with the snowblower for the second time and I'm sure that I will be doing it again tomorrow. The snow caved in the tarp and frame I had set up over the boat, didn't get to it in time A little more strapping and wire and it will be good as new. I'm really glad I got the snowblower last year, this years been a killer for snow.

Re: Man do we have snow!
BB, sorry about Sat's game - quite a story about Ben Gordon! Rev up those snowblower's fellas! Looks like you're in the midst of something enormous up there. Is everyone snowed in?

Re: Man do we have snow!
This has been 15 hours without a post from Finster - I'm thinking hiw power must be out (or he's tired from running next door for beer)...
MW - it's not too bad, shoveling 20 inches of snow usually screws up my back for a week but being south of Boston, my wife doesn't feel the need for a snow blower (she also gets to dig half the driveway). We also don't really get any big storms here. Twenty inches is a good snow but it's not a real big storm relative to say, Baltmoor. Altanta stay all rain? |
Re: Man do we have snow!
Thanks for sympathy MW, they better get their tails in gear they have some tough road games ahead 24 turnovers - ouch.Well I'm sitting here at work, wondering why - it's very quiet.I may get called into service picking up some nurses at the wife's hospital so they can relieve the day shift. Then I fire up the Ariens!
I've had enough of this ! |
Re: Man do we have snow!
Looks like only 15 or 16 inches here... Roads looks pretty clear too considering. Wouldn't need a 4WD for work today...
|
Re: Man do we have snow!
John-
I thought Rhody got whacked by the storm...only 16 inches?? Logan got 27.5, and i think I got about 25 in Brookline. Ed |
Re: Man do we have snow!
That's about it where I am - near the coast. It spent a few hours as almost sleet - the 25 knot stinging you think yer bleeding kind...
Brookline, eh? Used to live on the backside of Summit Hill - was there for the April fools storm. Cars trying to make it up the hill slid back down into my yard and if not for the big snow banks, into my car |
