NICE Saturday the weather was great in the after noon I went out and found the old familiar Chatham fog to screw things up FAC conditions and a full tank of gas only to have no visibility sunny on the inside fog on the outside, I'm glad you had a good day, nice fish what did you catch it on? How far a ride for you is Stellwagon?

Hi Jon,

I caught it on trolling a Rapala (black top/silver sides) just outside the NE corner.
Gutting showed ~3in herring.
It's about 20 miles ride to the corner for me.

Worth the trip this day!

Nice work Nick! I can't wait to tie in to one of those myself. What speed were you trolling at?

Thanks guys,

Scott, I was trolling around 6 knots.

This is making a great fishing story, already grew to 60lbs!

This piece was cut/pasted from the ONTHEWATER.com fishing report.

"
Captain Dennis DeCarney and Peter Santini from Fishing FINatics in Everett reported that Nick Fondulis nabbed a 60-pound bluefin that took his silver/black Rapala CD18 as he trolled along Stellwagen. This guy was prepared, as he had brought along a video camera with him that he strapped to his neck and taped the whole affair - talk about cool under pressure! Flounder are hitting well near the 2, 4, and 6 Cans in Boston Harbor. Surfcasters lobbing seaworms into the surf of Revere Beach are finding hungry cows in the suds. "

Re: Football season!

Any possibility that the bluefin might be in ipswich bay?
I was out yesterday and saw small birds working and would occassional see "something splashing" at the surface and then would follow a line of bubbles that would surface every 25 yards for about a quarter of a mile. Nothing showed up on Furuno fishfinder.....thought it might have been pilot whales because of bubbles but....never saw anything on screen. Than

I casted a deadly dick into the fray and snagged a very, very small fish (about the size of a half dollar). Not sure what is was.......

Re: Football season!

Ed,
There's a very good chance they are in the area. A guy I know in Gloucester landed a 83# on the fly 1/2 mile out of the harbor over the weekend.

Re: Football season!

Guys,

I tried again on yesterday. Furuno was very quiet from the NE corner/beyond. Only 1 whale, few basking sharks. Few boats. Jigged up a few cod instead.

I must have passed them.

Great calm day othe water for a small craft advisory!

Ed,
next snag, re-hook and send back down!

Re: Football season!

I tried yesterday in CCBay heard that there were footballs out there but I could not find anything. Lots of boats livelining blues but nothing on the fish finder. What a nice day, Nick next time your out there give me a shout on 68 or 9 "Erica D" I was out about three miles from P-Town should have no problem hearing you from there. If the weather cooperates I might try off Chatham this weekend depending on the wind. Due to the big swells Chatham inlet was very scary this weekend so I fished the bay instead. Saturday after I checked my lobster traps I snuck out to the inlet to check it out and was amazed, low tide with huge breakers curling over the channel markers no thanks I'll fish the bay instead.

Jon,
You were too far north.

Re: Football season!

Ya I think a little to far east to. I left my binoculars at home and could only see so far with out them I could only pic out the groups with large boats in them and I had a passenger on board with a time limit that crapmed my style. Next weekend is another story I finally bought a good heavy spinning rod so now I just need some cooperative fish and a little of Nicks luck!
