Ok Guys, Here’s the Scoop!!!

For the last couple of months I have been working on this project. I saw a picture of Bill Potter’s personal boat after restoration. His son had put “Potter Built II” in small black letters next to the SeaCraft Logo. This gave me the idea.

Basically I wanted something that would designate the “Potter era” built hulls. Don’t take this wrong, as I’m not suggesting that the Tracker or CSY constructed hulls are not worthy but only that those of us with the Potter hulls are proud of the heritage. Right around this time, as I was bouncing ideas around, I happen to run intro Mr. Potter at the Stuart boat show. I presented my idea to him. He had no objections. As things progressed I also wanted to incorporate the “Classic SeaCraft.Com” that we are all familiar with. I worked with Tara, a creative designer of “Tara Biek Creative” a service-oriented ad agency based here in Stuart, Florida. I ran the idea and final design by “Trayder” our CSC administrator and received his blessing also.Now available is the “Classic SeaCraft Potter Built HDS” (hull designation sticker)
Be among the first to proudly display your HDS sticker on your Potter Built SeaCraft!! (1969- May 1980) Wouldn’t this sticker look great displayed on your Potter Hull? Mark, one of proud CSC Board Members, has already ordered his and suggested placing it under the hull number on the transom. I agree, or you could get two and place them next to the registration numbers or the aft vents on the port and starboard sides. It's real hard for the graphic designer when it gets that small. But the basic VD design lines were all that I was trying to project visually. Originally I had four colors but the vinyl lettering just could not accomplished [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

After awhile of being seen over again, I'm hoping the Red/Black/Gold sticker will be recognized by the boating public and other SeaCrafters just like the State Registration sticker! [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

I'll see if I can get the VD lines straightned out a little more like the transom vs amidships [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I should know this but....

I have a Paypal account. It says that I am not verified, I can verify by punching in my bank account, which I don't particularily want to do...

I also have the option to "Send Money". It goes on to say that "Pay anyone with an email address - even if they don't have a PayPal account".

The question is can I punch in your email address and will the transaction work? Or do I have to verify first for it to work?

Nice effort. If it's not too late to make changes, you might want to use the same font as the original SeaCraft logo for the word "SeaCraft"

Mainly gourmand with the exaggerated curved base serifs of goudy old style on the r and f. I think that just gourmand will do fine since it seems an exact match for the capital letters and strokes of the others.

If you have MS Word, type "SeaCraft" and change the font to 100 points Gourmand. Then change the character spacing for the letters "SeaCr" to condensed 6 pts. Set "a" to condensed 2 pts, and set "f" to condensed 6 pts. That will bring the letters closer and make the t and f connect, yet keep the a from touching the f.

The orders are coming in fast and furious [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

I am trying to maybe correct "minor" ajustments to the stickers without going overboard and holding up production and keep the costs reasonable. The decals will be off the press in approx 10 days and I will start shipments then [img]/images/graemlins/ooo.gif[/img] Remember that this sticker is only 3"x3" and touching of certain letters might lose it's looks at a distance. I also have to consider "Trademarks" I appreciate everyones comments and I'll try to please [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
Had I put this out prior, I would have received in excess of 500 suggestions on size, color, wording etc. So I figured I could not please everyone so I was better off "just doing it"and I'd take the heat afterwords....> I love this site!! Good point about not going overboard on a 3" sticker. Maybe just change the font of "SeaCraft Classic" to Gourmand (if it's easy to do) and be done with it. FWIW, I already had that font info because I'm looking into original style side decals.

BTW, do we indicate the year of our boat with the order? (Maybe I missed that instruction somwhere)

My designer took the "EXACT" scale of the strakes off " Fig. 12 " from the US Patent Sheet and applied it to the decal. It should be pretty darn close now! I've included in the picture all years so everyone will have a better look at their individual sticker [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

This is a scan of the first "Prototype" HDS Decal hot off the press today. It has the corrected lifting strakes and VD Lines [img]/images/graemlins/ooo.gif[/img] The finished product will look real nice!

Flagtails - I think I could get them made larger but then you might run into a "Trademark" violation. We had these designed and priced at the 3"x3" size. I am getting a quote on a larger one placed on a white metal license plate for your vehicle. Classic Potter Built HDS Update!!!


Over 100 stickers have been ordered. They will be off the press on Tuesday and I will be shipping them through out the week [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

Be sure to post a picture of your Classic Seacraft after putting on your HDS!!! [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

It is very easy to do. Just like a woman, be gentle and slow during placement [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] TAKE YOUR TIME , as the lettering is small. I have included (4) easy "How Too" steps [img]/images/graemlins/ooo.gif[/img]

STEP #1 Make sure the surface is clean and with masking tape over the top and place your sticker at a desired location.

STEP #2 Lift the sticker up from the bottom and "GENTLY" peel off the backing paper

STEP #3 Using a rubber squeegie or a Credit Card, rubb the sticker in place with easy strokes.

They look even better than I thought they would Capn Chuck!!!!Thanx for the instruction pix to- since my boat is in the water and will have to follow the steps "upside" down do you have any theories that may help me with this most difficult project???
