jfk had class

Anyone see the Kennedy story in Ny Post today? I would never admit reading this rag but the wife noticed "the boat in the picture looks like yours". Got my attention away from boat trader online.. Full page color picture of JFK Jr and Bessette in his 20' classic seacraft. Looks like a late 70's or early 80's? I think I see vents on the sides, what years were those made?

Re: jfk had class

Even more on the JFK/Seacraft thing (hopefully I remember the story correctly)...
Chris Downey's 23 Sceptre was originally purchased by Jackie O. for John John, but when it was delivered to the dealer on Cape Cod, she didn't like the seat colors and passed on it . Chris's father saw it for sale and decided to buy it. Twenty-five years later and it's still one sweet looking rig!

I saw the jkf Jr. show last night and saw a seacraft classic I felt pretty happy that he enjoyed the ride of a SC.He could've had any boat in the world he picked a Classic. God bless him?

Re: jfk had class

Scott M is correct. That is the story that Chris' father told us. Supposedly, Jackie O did not like the original yellow seats.

Scott- How was the tackle show? Did I call to say I couldnt make it? I had a rough day on Saturday.

It was pretty good, lots of stuff to buy. You know how it is! Umm, no I didn't hear from you on Saturday. Hopefully everything is okay.

BTW, I'm getting a "Potter" sticker from Chuck for the Seabird, so you'll need to get one for the Mako.

Jason- C'mon I know you have the pic of Carolyn standing on the Seacraft in her thong with JFK Jr. helping her put her shorts on....

Scott M- Glad to hear that the tackle show was fun. Sorry I flaked on calling. I've been stressed out with girlfriend issues and of course, getting a full-time job.

ClassicMako

Capt CHuck and Scott-

I need to create a Classic Mako- "Schwebke bilt" sticker. Robert Schwebke is the guy who was the majority owner of Mako before he sold off his stake in 1992/1993. Hence, that is the reason why I have owned (2) 1991 Mako's.

I am waiting for the day that used Schwebke Mako's command the same amount of money as used Potter Seacrafts!

Can I hold my breath that long???

I don't know, just doesn't have the same ring to it as Potter Built.

Back to John John...he may have chosen "only" a Seacraft for his boat, but you should see the house on Martha's Vineyard!

"Schwebke bilt" We have had 3 Schwebke era makos 17,231,254 also a proud owner of 2 Potter SC's.. I grew up with the Schwebke kids here in Boca Raton. Great family, boats did take a turn for the worse after they were out of the picture.

from that article

"The Boston Herald reported in 1996 on Kerry’s "a 200-horsepower SeaCraft powerboat valued at $20,000."

It actually had twin 200HP motors and quite a questionable history........

I do not think they have it any more but they do have a 27 Contender with twin 200+ engines. I have seen him a few times in Vineyard Sounds full tilt to the islands, he is not afraid to run the boat a full throttle.

Re: jfk had class

I have pulled more than a few thirty and forty pound stripers from under Kerry's Contender; it's moored just downtide of Brant Point, at the tail end of a great rip.

I swiped it from this great web site during the original thread :) I have quite a few SeaCraft pictures in my library that I've pulled off the web. I should make a folder some day and put it up on my server.
