I have a 18' seacraft flats boat.

I have a 18' seacraft flats boat. I am trying to find any information on the boat, specs, etc. Does anyone have any information they can share?

I have seen 18's with poling platforms on them b/c they are kinda shallow draft but not one made specifically for the flats. Would like to see pics also.

Those poling platforms are also on the Jones Brothers Cape Fisherman's as well as a few other boats in which the designer had to have had zero poling experience to expect it to work.

I used to have a SeaCraft 18' and the notion that you could pole that boat, or that it was shallow draft compared to a flats boat is a stretch: it's an A$$ heavy boat like all the other SeaCraft CC's.
The only boats that I have successfully poled are nearly a thousand pounds lighter than an SC18' and have a lot less freeboard (Hells Bay's, Silver King's, etc).

I think there were photos on here a year or so ago of a 20' that someone cut the sides down on and made it into a "backcountry" boat but I wasn't under the impression that any factory versions were ever made

Here are the photos. You are correct it is heavy but cuts through the chop great. Really have not had problems poling. Will run in 1 foot of water, a little more to float/pole. Looking at upsizing my 90hp but do not know the max hp. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

What year is this boat? What are the first 3 letters of the hull ID#? Although your boat is called a Seacraft, it doesn't appear to be related to the boats on this web site. Perhaps Tracker built a flats boat under the SC name?

It is a 1989. I can get the hull ID tonight.

Re: I have a 18' seacraft flats boat.

I remember reading a post on CSC.com that talked about a guy that had a custom 18 flats boat. However, I think it was from an original 18 that he chopped down. I tried looking for the post without any luck... Too many friggin posts..

maybe someone else remembers the post..

Re: I have a 18' seacraft flats boat.

I remember that post Rich, He took an 18 and cut it down because he had a 23 that he fished offshore and loved the boat and wanted a flats boat with the same hull. He found and old 18 and redid it as a flats boat with a flush fordeck, sweet looking ride... That boat doesn't look like a SeaCraft hull, must be a poser...lol

Re: I have a 18' seacraft flats boat.

can you show us a photo from DIRECTLY behind the boat so as to facilitate seeing the "steps" between the planes. On the SeaCraft boats that many of us are familiar with, those "steps" are a vertical jump up/down to the next plane... (I'm sure there is someone on here who can more clearly describe what I am trying to say ).

One other thought, and I'm not trying to split hairs here: each company who has owned and produced SeaCraft boats has maintained the same typeface, be it Potter, CSY, Tracker, SeaCraft Industries, etc. The word SEACRAFT on this boat is all different.

IF it is a SeaCraft, it is surely a rare one!

Well............

Its something.

either it is a boat tracker built under the SeaCraft name in the late eighties.

Or someone put a late eighties seacraft sticker on the side.

here is a shot of a 1989 23 CC note the sticker.

My best guess is Tracker wanted to get into the flats market and slapped the SeaCraft name on the side.

Whatever the case may be..... welcome Snooker33 and although we have no specs on your boat we will try our best to help.

Re: I have a 18' seacraft flats boat.

I stand well corrected on the typeface issue, apparently there was more variety than I was previously aware of.

Considering how rare this one must be, Otto is sure to want one for his collection

Re: I have a 18' seacraft flats boat.

It may have been built by Tracker, but the hull is a bit short of being a Sea Craft VD hull. The steps look close in the stern shot but they are a bit small compaired to an 18. It looks like they don't run all the way to the bow. It has a SeaCraft name but it is not a true Sea Craft hull like we all know. Cool boat though....Welcome to the club.. watch out for Otto....

Re: I have a 18' seacraft flats boat.

Also I have had a few people offer to buy/trade my boat and really do not know what it is worth. I love the boat and am hesitate to part ways. I am the third owner and am seriously looking at doing some modifications but do not want to change anything that would decrease the value. The cc used to have a windshield and motor that allowed the electronic compartment to raise/lower to protect the equipment. It has two live wells. Large removable dry storage under the rear seat and additional storage in the bow. I had one of the two 12 gal fuel tanks replaced with exact replicate of the orginal. Really looking to find out what I have and all info is appreciated. Thanks Otto any additional tidbits out there

WOW!!

Otto, where the hell did you find that?

Re: I have a 18' seacraft flats boat.

As you can see in the brochure, the maximum # of passengers is 4 and the maximum HP is 110. Although rare, I don't think it's the kind of rare that add alot of value. It looks to be in nice shape. I would venture a guess at it's value to be in the $3,500 to $5,000 range, depending on the condition of the decks, transon and motor. Anybody else want to take a shot?

Rich,

I got a 1989 Tracker/SeaCraft brochure when I bought my 23CC. I scanned it from that.

Thanks Otto, Got distracted and did not see the attchment on the first look. Work keeps getting in the way of real important stuff..like boats. Any idea of the value of the boat? Any comments on if I replace the cc or should I restore the old one?

Re: I have a 18' seacraft flats boat.

if it were mine, which it's not, I'd go ahead and change out the console to something a bit more current and user friendly if you have already been thinking about it. I wouldn't worry about that type of change affecting value, people very often substantially modify "collectible" SeaCrafts (Potter era) and it likely adds value rather than detracts from it (brackets, new consoles, higher floors, higher transoms, etc).
