I am pushing it around the yard Nah, still too busy to work on boats at the moment.
I should have some time to work on it after the weather get real hot. |
Re: Two SeaCrafts currently on Ebay
Here is a response I recieved from the seller of the 23 in Long Island listed on Ebay.
"I'm not sure. It hasn't run in 7 years. The lower part of the motor and sst prop are intact but the engine is not. The hull and trailer are in good shape. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Jason" I had asked about the motor. The pictures tell a lot also. You can see the aft deck hatches are very soft. If the whole boat is like the pictures and has sat for 7+ years on Long Island uncovered, it is going to be a project boat. Bill |
Re: Two SeaCrafts currently on Ebay
Bill,
I just looked at the pictures too and thought the same thing. It appears that this boat lived a hard life. How about the helm seating arrangement? First time I've seen an SSI used like that. The 27 on the other looks pretty sweet. With 320 gallons of fuel and twin diesels, you can go a loooong way in that boat. |

Chuck, do you think he will notice
No luck on the Barbour site?? Just think how many bids that boat would have with the Chuckster "HDS" decals on it |
Re: Two SeaCrafts currently on Ebay
Has anyone actually seen the 27' up in Pensacola?
I might take a drive up there on Monday and look at it. Is this boat near anyone up that way? and could save me a trip? |

that's funny... Go for the 27' |
Re: Two SeaCrafts currently on Ebay
Well, he won the 23' and has a bid on another http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
and a bid on the 27'. Sounds like the 7 boat theory will soon replace the 4 boat theory. My guess is the reserve on the 27 is 15k+. I will talk to them tomorrow and see what the deal is with the 27. |
Re: Two SeaCrafts currently on Ebay
John B,
The Seafari guy emailed me today and lowered his reserve to $1,500. I'm sticking at $1,000. Someone should go for it. It's one of Potters first boats! I'm saving myself for the 27... |
Re: Two SeaCrafts currently on Ebay
Otto,
The 27 is an interesting setup. One of those 27' show up about ever 3 months here in Florida it seems. My only concern other than the condition of the boat (obviously run as a charter) is that 2 diesels with running gear plus 300 gals of fuel plus a tower are probably too heavy for the 27. The 27 is not a particularly dry boat to begin with (better than the 33' though), and with all that weight, it will be throwing some water around. I guess you could install isenglass and put a parascope and snorkle on it . One of the 27's I was on had spray rails and they seemed to help some. My mechanic used to be an engine rigger during the Mosely and part way thru the Potter era, and has some interesting perspectives on some of the setups that were done. Hate to burst the bubble over here, but they weren't all perfect . I have been on 2 27' seacrafts, and I think that that in that size, I would look at an older Pursuit, but hey, if you got the time and money, and want the complete museum collection, go for it. I will be up in the panhandle on business next week, and go right by there so if it is still around, I might stop and take a look at it. It is a unique piece of work. |
