Re: reconfigured drain system
Is that Hard plumbing or does it have a flexable joint between the two pipes?

Re: reconfigured drain system
George,
I'm liking the look of your drainage setup. Definately keep us posted on how it works once you splash the boat. What power are you going with? Just out of curiosity, what are your plans for that in-deck live well. I will be doing all the same work that you have done on my 20 footer and am still stumped on the live well situation. Thanks -Will |
Re: reconfigured drain system
Its a straight single pvc pipe glassed in. I have a newer 150 merc efi going on the back. I was thinking of a 175 or 200 hp but I decided that since I wasnt raising the deck I couldnt afford the extra weight. As far as the in deck live well, I am planing on keeping it. Right now I am filling in those holes and building a new and improved draining sytem for that, but if that doesnt work out I am going to make it into storage, because I have a 28 gal live well in the console.

Re: reconfigured drain system
George,
I was just wondering how the new drain system has worked out? Have there been any problems? Pat |
Re: reconfigured drain system
Pat,
I havent splashed the boat yet, I plan on doing so in the next 2 weeks. I will let you know then. -George |
Re: reconfigured drain system
Are you going to put ping pong balls on the outside?
|
Re: reconfigured drain system
Yea I am going to put a set of them on the back, after using them on my old mako I am a believer.

Re: reconfigured drain system
Hey George,
Can you give us an update on how that reconfigured drain/scupper system is working? Thanks -Will |
Re: reconfigured drain system
Will,
So far so good. Splashed the boat for the first time a little over a month ago and I have since then have had up to 4 passengers including myself at one time aboard and my feet have been dry. I am very happy with the set up. http://photobucket.com/albums/v352/gbf03/020_20.jpg |

That baby SHINES. Glad to hear the water on the deck problem is cured. |
Re: reconfigured drain system
George
Are you satisfied with DF performance with the transom mount transducer mounted where it is? Dink |
Re: reconfigured drain system
I wondersd the same thing Dink. Usually they say to mount on the stb. side.
|
Re: reconfigured drain system
So far I have not any problems, I was unaware that you were suppose to mount on the starboard side

Re: reconfigured drain system
I love the idea for the reconfigured drain system. Do you have any photos of the plumbing looking into the hatch. I am in the process of rebuilding a 20' and a 23'. I hate the old drain system because it is not act as a selfbailing deck. Does your system act as a self bailing deck?
|
Re: reconfigured drain system
I dont have any photos off hand of the plumbing but all that it is, is a pvc pipe glassed in. I will get photos of it shortly. Yes when the boat is at rest it does self bail. The other day me and a buddy were offshore drifting a grouper spot and I was sitting at helm and he was a little forward of me and it was still self bailing. I weigh about 200 and so does he and we had a 128 qt cooler in the back full of ice and a full tank of gas along with all the other gear.

Re: reconfigured drain system
that's awesome. My biggest complaint of my 20 is the drainage system. If you can't get the photos, could you do some measurements for me? I would be forever grateful. I would love to get my hands on the placement for both the inside and outside locations of the holes you cut. Thanks again and that is hands down the best idea I have seen on here yet!

Re: reconfigured drain system
looks good. I just cut the old drainage system out yesterday and it will be a little while before I put the new system in due to cold weather and the amount of grinding I have ahead of me. That gives me some time to think about it. I am pretty sure I have an idea of how to go about it though. Your pictures helped me out big time. Thanks again!

Re: reconfigured drain system
George, where did you get your ping pong balls? And how much did they cost?
|
Re: reconfigured drain system
Here's the one's you want.
http://www.outdoorsuperstore.com/sto...tID~259216.htm Forget the Rabuds. You have to unseal them to clean the balls. |
Re: reconfigured drain system
Flash sorry i didnt get a measurement this weekened it was to cold for me to make it down to the coast where I left my boat last weekend but glad to see I was some help.
Hattrick the ones that warthog put up are the same as mine, I believe I got them from west marine -George |
Re: reconfigured drain system
that's cool george. West marine carries those drains online for about $10. They look worth it, but I wish the came in stainless or white. BTW it was 7 degrees here! My new heater made it feel tropical in my shop though. I'm glassing the new transom in this weekend.

Flash I gave you a link with a good price. $7.25 I've ordered a fair amount of stuff from those folks and they have good service. |
