Re: 25 seacraft......??
All SeaCrafts have a Great hull design so compared with other manufacturers (same size hull) usually the SeaCraft is at least as good or better riding than what you are comparing it with. I own the 23’ and love it. I have never ridden in the 25 but looked at them several times. Personally I don’t care for 25’ boats most are two big for one motor and not quite long enough for two 6 cylinder motors on the back. I like to go from 23’ one motor to 27-31 two motors boats. I wish they stretched the newer 25’s to 27’ that would really get my attention. You might find a used 27’ SeaCraft for sale they were made for several years. The inside dimensions of the 25’ is just a tad bigger then the 23’ plus the intergraded engine bracket added. There is one member of this forum that has had a major problem with his boat it seems that the manufacturer messed up big time in the bracket area of the boat that has caused cracking and de lamination of both the transom and deck. The boat is still under warrantee but they have not done the right thing by giving him a new hull. Other than that I don’t know of any other problems with the boat. Good luck and welcome to the board.

Re: 25 seacraft......??
Jim,
The 25' is essentially a 23' with an integrated bracket/Euro transom. SC didn't start producing them until the late '90s, so you won't find any from the pre-Tracker days. As Fellow-Ship mentions, the hull design is the same as it has always been, but in recent years, the construction quality has slipped when compared to the '70s and early '80s boats. As with any product, there are going to be lemons, so I don't want you to think all new SCs are junk. I'm sure there are many 25's out there that have not been a problem at all to their owners. You may want to pose your question on a board like THT where you'll get a wider point of view. A lot of owners of newer SCs don't weigh in their opinions on this site, perhaps because they think it is for older models only. |
Re: 25 seacraft......??
I have been advised to not post because of the originator of this thread is new to this forum. It is possible that Tracker Marine is baiting me........
Notice how you can switch a few letters in his handle what you come up with....trackemarine.....arctekmarine |
Re: 25 seacraft......??
CaptnC ....
arctekmarine is legit (unless someone pirated his handle from THT) ....but I think you're best to do as you are and keep a low profile till this mess passes over .... Certainly was hoping that things were getting better for you ...but from the "tone" it sure doesn’t sound that way….. Very curious to hear whats going on but its not worth jeopardizing your situation over …. Sorry to see this continue on with what looks to be no resolve Jim .... Welcome to the site !!! |
Re: 25 seacraft......??
There was a 25' Seafari that was produced in the 70's.

Hi Jim http://www.striped-bass.com/StriperT...lies/wavey.gif , John from Striped-Bass, sorry I haven't gotten back to you yet - just slammed busy. If you want a 25, find a nice 23 and put a Hermco Bracket on it. |
Re: 25 seacraft......??

Re: 25 seacraft......??
hi all, i had a 24 albermarle about 8 yrs ago the ride was nothing short of fantastic....i would consider a 23 ob powered seacraft is there a difference in these 2 ......thanks.....jim..................
|
Re: 25 seacraft......??
Jim,
The difference is in the running bottom. SC's have the variable deadrise (see the logo above), whereas the Albemarle has a traditional deep V. The advantage of the SC design is in how the "steps" lift the hull and provide an air cushion. Traditional deep V's have lifting strakes but don't create the same effect. |
Re: 25 seacraft......??
I don't know if you'd be interested but there's a nice 25 Seafari on sale at usedboats.com.

Nice looking boat in the pic. |
Re: 25 seacraft......??
This boat is located on Martha's Vineyard. I took a look at it last September while on its mooring in Edgartown Harbor (I didn't get on it though). She appears to be in good shape, fairly recent power/outdrive, but the fuel capacity is very low - 55 gallons according to the ad.

Re: 25 seacraft......??
thanks for the input guys....i worked on the 23 they are very nice .....but would like something bigger does seacraft have a 27 or ?????.........thanks ......jim

Re: 25 seacraft......??
They did make a 25 Seafari in the 70's although back then enough power was the biggest problem with the 25' deadrise, but it would eat some Gulf chop, had some divers in St Pete had one, bet it would be a great boat with a couple of these new OB's

Re: 25 seacraft......??
Not all the 25 Seafari's were underpowered. I once managed a marina with a 25' Seafari docked there that had twin 225 hp OMC V8 sterndrives. The problem was that the sterndrives were the old OMC 800 stringer mounts. The owner claimed a top speed of about 50 mph for the boat.
In 1987 the boat sank in the Banana River near Cape Canaveral when the rubber gasket around one of the drives tore one day. (The owner said it took less than 10 minutes to go under completely.) I don't think they ever salvaged the boat as it was supposedly uninsured. |
fr frank what would a 25 seafari weigh with twin 4s thanks george

I love My 25 seafari with the twin 150 mercs on brackets, she will do almost 50mph with a light load

She turns on a dime with a good roll, better grab hold somthing if you snatch the wheel! She sits in the water with the bow high but I had a light fuel load, soon as I get time and a few hundred Im gonna fill the 2 new tanks with a hundred two Gals of fuel and it should balance out well. Should be a few more weeks and ill have her back in the water with a full load. I wouldn't want to go with big 4 strokers without a floatation bracket, when I update in a few years Im thinking of adding a pair of 200 optis on a floatation bracket.
heres a pic of her before the new tanks with 4 27 series batteries and a 15 gal tank in the back compartment |
