Holy Cow!!

I had a impressive day fishing with "Jimmy the Greek" on his new 31' SeaVee!

This boat is quite the battleship!!! He is also the "man" that fished many years in a 23 SeaCraft!

Here is beauty we pulled up;

Re: Holy Cow!!

Yeah, the wind was howling last Sat. I know the lenght was inches over my 4 shoe's (nice to have a 12" shoe) ... ~50", guess at weight was in the ~45lb range.

OUZO seems to be holding up just fine. I was out to Wildcat on Tue ..... no sign of bluefins, few whales though. Picked up cod and haddock for the ride.

Jason, Jimmy trailers his boat! What a monster on the trailer with the inboard diesel. I am not familiar with these waters, but i do know we left out of a Falmouth ramp.

Sweet fish Nick!! Any idea where you guys were fishing in relation to Falmouth? Looks like some pretty open water behind you in the pic.

That SeaVee is a nice rig. I've heard this guy's name before but can't remember where or when. Is he a North Shore guy like you, or is he from the Cape?

That is Falmouth Inner Harbor. If you notice in the back ground there is a seacraft. "Fast Eddy" I think is the name...

Re: Holy Cow!!

Thanks Guys!

Jimmy does own "Grecian Jewlers" in Arlington. He has been in articles in the Fisherman and On The Water, mostly cod fishing. He does well in the tuna and striper fishing also.

I did not pay much attention, i was in awe with his boat and do not fish out of the Cape.

He lives somewhere is western Mass, and trailers all over Mass... but mostly to the Cape.

I going to try and top this fish in Boston harbor area, but something tells me it may take awhile. Although, big fish have been taken off of Gloucester.

I plan to start tomorrow.

That's pretty funny. I was in Grecian Jeweler's last September. He's got pictures of huge bluefin tuna up all over the wall in his Jewelry shop . . . we talked about cod fishing for almost an hour. Great Guy!!! Probably should have asked him about bass fishing while I was in the store

CS - good luck on your quest for a Boston Habb'a 50 pounda.

Nick, Thats a beauty all right. What were you using for tackle to hook that baby ?? Down by me in southern Ct. most of the large bass are caught using eels and usually very early in the morning. 3-4am ...Envious in Ct

Nick:

How do you know Jimmy?

He's the brother-in-law of a buddy of mine. He doesn't live too far west, Dracut or Groton, I think.

He burns up trucks towing those crazy boats all over New England like you and I use a pair of shoes.

He sure knows how to catch fish!

Re: Holy Cow!!

Live eels were the ticket this day!

I am sure he burns up trucks, but many transmissions first.

I got to know Jimmy through a friend, ... of course another Greek.

Sweet bass! Nice fish!

... sorry, won't find many like that in the Harbor though. North to Cape Anne, south to Cohassett to better your chances

John R- you must have heard that a 12 year old kid grabbed a 56 pounder at Providence point ( northern tip of Prudence I.) last month. Now, down our way, all the big ones are off the Block.

I live almost directly across from Providence Point... The thing that makes the Bay a little different than Boston harbor is how close it is to the staging areas of the bass, like Montauk, Block, Cuttyhunk.. So the odds go up (a guy I know caught a 63#er from shore last year in Newport). In Mass, Cohassett south has great exposure/ awesome structure/ deep water / better bait and from there to Plymouth you have the East end of the Ditch was is a big conduit for these fish. Also, when CC Bay warms up and the tuna come in, they can push the bass & blues inshore into those areas. Cape Anne has the cooler waters, great structure, and is more or less ocean front again. Great bait too ..

I know a few Boston sharpies that catch a lot of 30s, some 40s, and the odd 50 but if they lived off Buzzards Bay or BLock, they'd do even better....

Me, I'm still waiting for my 40 from shore

it is either 24 or 24.5 degrees same as Whitewater, Contender etc. all very similar and nice boats

Re: Holy Cow!!

Boy .... you guys know how to shrink a guys fish, fast!

Now i am determined to catch the 50# in Boston haba, even if i have to tow one up from R.I., Beware, i do have that range with the new Suzy 4-stroke.

Also, SeaVee has the deadrise at 25 degrees, Jason's memory is off .5 degrees ....
