Re: Pop-up Cleates

And who makes the best pop-up cleats?
I have seen a couple of different styles on ebay and I'm not sure which ones are good or which ones will be junk in a year!

Yo warthog

I got a decent pair of pull ups listed on eBay right now. You can probably get them cheap

Re: Pop-up Cleats

I got mine over the phone at Boat Owners Warehouse in Florida.

http://www.boatownerswarehouse.com/

I got 4 of the 8 inch new style wide line cleats from Accon.

I think they were around $60 each new. Good price.

Re: Pop-up Cleates

Capt. Chuck,
I just won and paypaled you for the cleats you had for sale on ebay. I am going to use them as pull-up chocks on the bow. I am hoping this is one of the final touches......but we never really are done are we. I thought you might like to know they are going on a Classic Seacraft.
Thanks, CMB

If you have the time Eba is the way to go. If you want to buy them at a fair price, Log into Ebay and do a search on Accon. There is a great company in Fla. that is a boat builder and buys directly from Accon and resells at a fair price. They have a ton of cleats normally for sale. I bought pop up bow chocks and cleats from them and even had a problem that was worked by them to my satisfaction. Hope this helps. Rich

Re: Pop-up Cleats

You guy's that have put pop ups cleates on your boat. What size did you use? 6in or 8in units?

RS 08-29-2004 02:16 PM

Re: Pop-up Cleats

I have two 6" cleats as shown below.
http://members.cox.net/rhstg44/SeaCr...lush%20bow.JPG

If I used a single cleat in the middle of the deck, I'd have gone with an 8"

warthog5 08-31-2004 02:25 PM

Re: Pop-up Cleats

After much reserch I bought 3- of the 8in units @ $96.05
This was $1.05 more than on Ebay. I would have to pay Fl. sales tax on the ones on Ebay + shipping.
So I bought them local thru Brown's Marine and saved the shipping cost.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Pop-up Cleats

I have a pull-up Accon cleat that I'd let go for $50 (I went with the 6" instead on the 20' redo).

Re: Pop-up Cleats

Roger

What model SC do you have ? I just attempted to mount new 6" pop ups on my 85' 23'CC and cannot get close to the smooth cut out due to the depth of the cleat and interference with the liner.

How did you get the cleats so close to the outer edge?

RS 09-02-2004 06:17 PM

Re: Pop-up Cleats

I have the Master Angler. The difference between that and the sf for that period is the "thicker" gunwale cap. On many models, the gunwale is even with the rub rail. Mine is raised from 2" to about 5" n the stern, giving much appreciated extra freeboard when bouncing through the rips.

Re: Pop-up Cleats

I got the Accon 8in Pop Up cleates today.

Backing plate comes with them. It's also used for a cutout pattern.

Here's the core cutout. Top glass is aprox 3/8in. Bottom glass is aprox 1/4in. The core is 3/4in Kledgecell.

I didn't put any hatch's in the transom top cap panel. It will be busy enough with rod holders and Downriggers.

anyone looking for popup cleats . . .
Seems like a pretty good deal for 6" cleats here

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2482445876

I just bought 3.

I picked up a few also. The look pretty nice.

Re: Pop-up Cleats

You need to look at this stuff close. The link that Bigshrimpin
posted says Pop Up cleats. they are Pull Up cleats. Pull up's are usually cheaper than Pop Up's. The Pop Up's also have a lower profile. Both are nice. It's up to you. I happen to think the pop Up's are a little nicer with their lower profile and spent more money to have them.
here's pix's of Stricks Pull Up's. I'm pretty sure they are Suncor's product.

Craig … They do make a model that ties into the bow eye
http://www.acconmarine.com/products/203-6-CA.jpg

I too would like to hear about anyone’s experience with the durability factor . I have been on some boats where these pull up / pop up cleats seem to have a lot of play in them...

I'm keeping the hawse pipes and fixed cleats in the stern... was thinking of replacing the other fixed cleats with two 8" bow and maybe even spring pop-ups (although I like the idea of hawse pipes and cleats for the springs also).

OK then ....
Well after going to the Accon site I may just do the Hawse pipes .... Sugg.Retail on 4 - 8" popups $444.00 http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoti.../happy/019.gif
Maybe I'll replace my popup bow light with the motorized version ..Only $ 690 and change !!!!!

Re: Pop-up Cleats

Sorry for the bad info . . . I'm pretty sure that the description is mostly correct except for the "popup part".

Attwood makes a 6" stainless pull up cleat which is what I suspect these are.

Re: Pop-up Cleats

Yes those are the Accon Wide line. They are solid in the up and down position so I dont think they will make any ratteling noises when underway. They were in the $90 range if I remember right. You guys have to remember to bend over as far as you can when buying new deck hardware because this really hurts. The hardware is great quality and worth the hit on you wallet. That motorized bow light is way too funny. I've seen it all now.

Re: Pop-up Cleats

The motorized bow light- looks like something out of the J.C. Whitney catalog! I'd be embarrased to have that on my boat....

They are. That is what he says in the auction. I am still thinking for $25 you can't go wrong.

Re: Pop-up Cleats

I put the Pull Ups on Mine,Including the Lift cleat. These are as about flush as You can get.Probably more than pop ups. The ones Pictured above are he Stream line ,Fancy & higher.I,ve seen/heard of PoP up problems, even had to use a srewdriver to get some up. The pull ups do have a lil' movement when up.but the only time their up is when a line is tied to em'.I have an account w/ accon. It takes a few orders to get a good price reduction. If everyone on this site wants to re_cleat their Seacraft then The Deal is there!

jetroc0088,
I got my cleats today . . . they look nothing like the advertised pic. The ones I was sent are 6" accon pullup cleats (pat 5,535,694) with backing plates and just like Capt. Brad's!! I couldn't be happier, but I'll definitely be a bit more careful next time I ebay.

Mine look just like that as well. I will check the PAT# tonight and see if it is the same.
