Scott-

This is kind of a new format, so in regards to details I am hoping the owner will chime in.

I do know it is a 1969 and was just restored by the current owner.

Sure is pretty. I wonder what kid of bracket that is? Armstrong? The 20 looks nice setup that way, I think Pogden has the samething in mind.

Thanks for the comments, yes boat is on Tampa Bay. Bracket was made by local company, C. L. Matson. They did the new gas tank too.

Shweeeet

Now J - nobody here will be done hounding you until you:

a) Give a complete step by step program (with pictures) on the rebuild

b) Measurements of the transom height, fuel numbers before and after, dimensions on the bracket, bouyancy of the bracket

c) And most important of all, how many beers were consumed at each step of the process and a seperate list of how many beers in the documentation of this project... Betcha think I'm kidding.

Oh yeh, and the brand of beer you were drinking

(OK, I'm kidding a little) Seriously, sweet boat! Sweet restore!

I really like that skinny console and t-top with the fat legs

Nice to see someone put some thought and attention into a 20', very nice looking boat!

Re: 1969 20 with Bracket

What have I gotten into? Are there really that many nuts about Sea Craft like me? NOW where you when I needed help with the grinding and sanding????

The only question I can answer now is "C" from JohnR and that answer is not enough and "D" is the cheap stuff 'cause I couldn't afford the good stuff with all I was spending! (wife guards the check book)

I will be getting together a progress "album" and some measurments requesed. In the meantime, thanks for the comments and I will get the rest soon.

Before your checkbook gets a Fort Knox lock on it from the wife you need some cool

jwilliams, welcome to csc i love your boat been wanting to do the same thing to my 20. Could you post some shots of the cockpit/transom area? Also was your boat originally an outboard or io? boat looks great!

Re: 1969 20 with Bracket

Thanks for the encouragement! I will be getting together progress and final shots of some some details I worked out.

I bought the boat 5 yers ago and it only sunk once! It went under during a hurricane 4 years ago while tied to a floating dock. It was an outboard and the older 20's had a 20" transom so the deluge of rain over ran the bilge. That inspired the closed transome.

My advice to anyone doing this on a 20' would be to move all you can forward! Mine gets up and runs and rides well but sitting at a dock, it is so low in the back the scuppers do not drain because they are so low in the water. I put "ping pong ball" type stoppes on the transome outlet and they work great. Then built a sump (pics will come) with automatic bilge pump to handle rain and wash down at the dock. Not the best solution but works well.

The progress pics should be sent next week.

Re: 1969 20 with Bracket

I am not sure what the prop dimensions are. I will find out when I pull it to have it cupped.

Top speed was not as impressive as I had hoped. With my old 175 transome mount it pushed 54mph on the Lowrance GPS according to the water wheel. Now it only hits 45/46mph.

JWilliams 12-04-2004 10:19 AM

Re: 1969 20 with Bracket

I looked at the "Potter" sticker and liked the idea but dicided to go with a custom script logo that stayed in the color theme (I know too Gucci). Pic will follow.

Waterwheel or GPS? Waterwheel's are not acurate.

i really like the boat. the colors are sharp and make a statment of Class. Is the bottom Copper colored?

beautiful boat. That paint job looks flawless!! Did you do that yourself? If so what did you use for paint? Nice teak rails too!!

Re: 1969 20 with Bracket

Only 45mph with a 200 on it?! I think your GPS must be off - mine, with a full 75 gallons of fuel will hit 43mph with a heavy 140 on it. You must be able to go a LOT faster than my ride with that engine on there...

Irrespective of speed (which I'm not all that into), you have a very nice looking boat

JWilliams 12-05-2004 10:15 AM

Re: 1969 20 with Bracket

Either water wheel or GPS have me slower hence the concern for the motor height. Not that I want to be going 60 but if it is top ending out well it would be running best efficency. Now at 3800 cruise at 30, not bad.

Thanks for the comments, the bottom is off white and actually has not been repainted. The boat use to be red and off white and was painted by another owner in 1990. I have not done the bottom yet.

JWilliams 12-05-2004 10:20 AM

Re: 1969 20 with Bracket

Thanks, the paint job is flawless! I did not shoot it. I got it 95% ready and my painter got it the most important other 5%. He is good, fellow in St. Pete, Fla. It is done in Awl Grip. I thought about doing it myself but looking at $1500 worth of paint in the can made me real nervous. A friend had just redone a 1968 35' Betram and it looks showroom new so I used his guy.

The teak rails were put on in 1990 by a previous owner. He painted it red then. They do look great. I added all teak trim on the inside and a teak electronics box.

Re: 1969 20 with Bracket

I carry 70 gallons but only 45 +/- is what she is doing. But at 3800 to 4000 cruise at 30 / 35 depending on wind and seas, it is a nice ride!

thanks

Re: 1969 20 with Bracket

I know this is a old post, I sent JWilliams a email, but it got kicked back to me.

I want to know what color is on that hull?

I'm guessing it's Awlgrip's "Forest Green" or Jade Green Mist"?
I like it.

Wart,
Do I smell a color change coming for some of the X-Sharks "Accessories"?

PS: WAY nice looking vessel ... I too like the color, and the obvious craftmanship in getting this vessel loking this good

Actually I wanted to know for Bob Carpenter aka Annie II.
I picked the color's for Annie II. he's sold her now and is building AnnieIII, but he just fell off of a ladder in Maine and has a bad bum wrist. That's going to slow him down.

I don't know. JWilliams has never come back and answered the question. His email addy is not working.
