Re: Show me your inboard
Sounds good. Back in the old days when it was 100% female (60's and early 70's), I loved it too. Would enjoy talking sc. Have had one since 1965. Best hull we have ever owned.

Re: Show me your inboard
hmmm, i rerally hate showing my boat off, especially since it still needs a lot of work to keep up with most of the other guys on 6the site, but mine is kinda a "work on it as I fish along" ,lol. sooner or later , i guess I will get around to the deck and other stuff but she works for now-if you go to the old pix of my boat when it was the vb police boat (on the 23's) you will see the progress- its just taking some time- looking forward to the other pix as well- craig-

nice boat craig, Hopefully I will have some pics up of my work in progress. What kind of fuel do you burn, and what does she have for power. Can't wait to start working on mine.

Re: Show me your inboard
Hey Chance,
Where did you buy your boat?? The reason why I ask is that about 3 maybe 4 years ago, your exact boat was for sale at a dealership/marine resto place in Long Island. I remember that your boat was owned by the guy who owned the business. As I recall, it sold shortly there after but until you bought it, I had lost track of it. would definitely like to hear the story as to where and from whom you bought her. Congrats and good luck. |
Re: Show me your inboard
Hey Ed, I bought it down on the cape. It was in the water on Bass River. It was on this site that I first saw it, but it was also in the cape cod times newspaper. The owner was asking 19,500 at first. I picked her up for 16,500. The owner you are talking about had a survey done on it in 2002 in which it was appraised at 23K. She has a 95 mercuiser 350 260hp inboard. The engine could have any where from 600 to 1000 hours on it. He had it repowered and stated in the survey that the hour meter had not been reset. While in the water at Bass River I took it for a sea trial. She fired up perfect and we ran her for about 45 min. The deck is solid, but I plan on redoing some of the deck hatches. The owner I bought it from runs a boat meachanic shop in Yarmouth MA. She has 3 tanks for a total of 150gal. The fwd tank may have a problem as she runs rough off that tank. Everything below decks is very accessible as pretty much everything can be accessed by removing the center console, 4 screws up fwd. and 8 screws or so aft. Which makes replacing the tanks a breeze as i have already reomoved these deck plates. If you are ever down on the cape, shot me an email and go take a look at her to see what you think. Do you know anything else about this boat from NY? If so please share. Thanks and more pictures will follow in about a week.

Re: Show me your inboard
Craig, stop trying to egg me on. I don't have to tell you guys how bad I want to put this in the water right now. Remember your first SC As for now, she has had a bath and a coat of wax for the winter. Now the fun starts. Getting her exactly how I want her. I hope this helps the winter go by faster, but somehow I doubt it.
BTW, my name is Elijah, Chance was my last dog, Satan rest his sole. |
Re: Show me your inboard
Your last line was kind of CREEPY. Don't you know all dogs go to heaven.

Re: Show me your inboard
Your dog ever eat half a recliner and go through your cupboards, after downing a bottle of natural supplements??

Re: Show me your inboard
Beautiful boat there Chance. If your looking for more info on your boat go to Noreast.com and do a search. You will be able to find the guy that sold your boat about 1.5 months ago.

Re: Show me your inboard
Anybody ever had to beef up their T-top due to not enough support back aft. my t-top as you can see in the picture has virtually no support aft. The t-top itself is not the greatest design. I am taking it to a guy this weekend to see if he has any ideas. Also on the top of the console when under way you can see the console flex where the t-top enters it. I am going to beef it up on the underside as well, any ideas with that?? Its not to complicated and i'm sure a good marina could make it solid as a rock. Just wanted to see if you guys had any ideas. Thanks

Re: Show me your inboard
although mine is old and fairly ugly it ties in to the console with pipe running from the electronics box (bolted to the top and to the 4 legs) to the top of the console- and the legs go to the deck, which are attached and held tight to the console with "U" bolts and then bolted/screwed to the deck (dont have access to thru bolt all- lemme see if I can find a pic- its very sturdy-

Re: Show me your inboard
Here is a pic of my brothers 1976 23 with Yanmar Diesel inboard:
http://www.byowneryachts.com/images/seacraft/8.jpg And here is a pic of my father-in-law's 1979 (I think) to-be-determined gas inboard: http://www.byowneryachts.com/images/...t/PICT0048.JPG The engine was new when we got the boat but due to the risers not being tall enough and a bad bilge pump setup she partially submerged herself on the mooring and water went through the exhaust and into the engine. The previous owner kept it on a lift and a trailer so he would not have known the issues existed so no hard feelings there. When rain water got into the hull it did not self bail very well, went into the bigle and forward fishbox which made the bow go down, then there was no float switch on the closest bilge pump....anyway, now the engine is siezed. Only had it for a few weeks before it happened and it has not been in the water since. We'll get it all squared away this winter with a new engine, proper bilge pump setup and a variety of other things like an electrically raised center console for engine access. |
